Are those pictures of the HD7 making your HD2 feel unloved? Well, maybe we can fix that. According to our in-house Windows Mobile enthusiast and lover (T1 Connect in the forums), you may be seeing an update coming your way. Apparently there is a ROM Update (3.14) out there in the wild that comes in the form of a ruu, which I guess makes it official and not a custom ROM (right?). The brave … [read full article]
You read that right, the Nokia 5230 (or the Nuron) has been overclocked. The question here is why? Why would someone in their right mind undertake the task of (or even want to) overclocking the Nuron. Well, the simple answer could just be that it can be done and we have the technology (or maybe they were bored). Either way, someone did it, and now that 434MHz ARM11 chip screams at 800MHz. This “fix” hasn’t … [read full article]

Seems like those boys over at WMPoweruser have been busy as we wake up to a leaked spec sheet for the upcoming HD7 and find…AWS bands on board ripe for T-Mobile. We’ve been calling this one for a while and, after the leaked inventory sheet all but confirmed a phone with the “HD7” name heading for Magenta, we’re now even more confident. This leak comes right on the heels of the HD7 images that … [read full article]
Just this morning we were graced with some design sketches of the HTC HD7 and now we’ve finally got some in the wild pics. Courtesy of the Taiwanese forum Mobile01, we’ve got what seem to be the first live shots of the HTC HD3/HD7. As pictured above, the handset has an HD3 label across the bottom half. Interestingly enough, as pictured in the image below, the metal surrounding the camera flips out to act as … [read full article]
While I’m almost positive this will incite a mini revolt against Samsung, they have stated that GPS improvements are coming to “other carrier partners” just moments after they released the fix for the AT&T Samsung Captivate. I can’t, for the life of me understand why these updates would not be doled out together but hey, I’m just a lowly blogger with a minimal understanding of these things. However, it’s a little aggravating to see the fix … [read full article]
Although most of you might have been expecting some in the wild pics or even Mr. Blurrycam pics, these design sketches will suffice. The guys over at WMPoweruser seem to have scored some schematic images of the upcoming HTC HD7. While we can’t confirm whether these images are 100% legit, from the looks of it they seem pretty real. Based on the sketches, like its predecessor, the HD2, the HTC HD7 appears to sport a 4.3 inch … [read full article]
Obviously at this point we’re playing a pretty fun guessing game on the subject of a T-Mobile G2 release date. We started out with September 29th, and then a Best Buy pre-order combined with our own sources led us to an October 6th date. Now, rumors both from our own sources and a T-Mobile forum leak claim that the middle of October, the 16th in fact is now the day for G2 fans … [read full article]
I expect this to delve in a comment catfight almost immediately but earlier this morning I had a conversation with a friend regarding cell phone operating systems. More to the point, what OS should be he pick up next for himself and his 6 employees. Which made me ponder, what do the TmoNews readers think they themselves will be picking up next? Are those of you still loyal to Blackberry or holding out for early reviews of … [read full article]
While the G2 might be delayed until the 16th of October, that isn’t stopping Best Buy from featuring the handset in their Buyer’s Guide labeled as “Coming Soon”. And while this doesn’t reveal anything new, its nice to see the T-Mobile G2 getting some attention. Speaking of Best Buy, that reminds us, we know Best Buy was originally having some troubles with pre-orders, but it looks like the issue has been resolved and pre-orders … [read full article]
Well it’s definitely been a long long time coming for this day as we haven’t seen a TmoNews mobile edition since the sites inception. While all the kinks haven’t been worked out as you can see by the double calendar above, the mobile edition is live and ready for action. I know a lot of Android users, especially those running flash have had a very hard time visiting the site recently so this should eliminate those troubles … [read full article]
The last month or so has seen at least two occasions where I, on behalf of the readers have expressed disappointment that UMA Wi-Fi calling had yet to come to Android. Thankfully, the folks at Kineto Wireless hope to change that with the introduction of their Smart Wi-FI Application for Android 2.2. Kineto Wireless has announced that they have updated their Smart Wi-Fi application, which is based on the 3GPP UMA/GAN standard capable of turning any … [read full article]
