Samsung Details “Wide Array Of Recognition Technologies” Inside The Galaxy S 4

There’s little question that the Samsung Galaxy S 4 is packing a lot of new features and functionalities under the hood. Samsung detailed a few of them on stage at their March 14th launch event, but is now expanding on the launch event with a new infographic highlighting the nine sensors tucked away inside the phone. Posted to Samsung’s official Tomorrow page, the graphic highlights the “wide array of innovative technologies” that differentiate the Galaxy S … [read full article]

(Updated) T-Mobile Adds iPhone 4/4S Trade-In Offer For $0 Down Payment On iPhone 5

Updated: After seeing a bunch of questions regarding the credit applying toward a full outright purchase of the iPhone 5, I pinged T-Mobile’s PR and they confirmed the credit applies to full retail purchases.  T-Mobile announced late last night it will supplement its upfront iPhone 5 pricing with a special trade-in offer. The offer, which lasts through Father’s Day on June 16th, will allow well-qualified customers to bring in their iPhone 4S or iPhone 4 devices … [read full article]

T-Mobile Execs See Higher Store Traffic Post-UNcarrier Announcement, 250K Pre-Registrations For iPhone 5 Launch

T-Mobile execs took a moment to speak to CNET and discuss the initial reaction to their new Simple Choice/UNcarrier company. Andrew Sherrard, senior vice president of marketing and David Carey, executive vice president for corporate services stated that traffic in stores is up. “I have every reason to believe this momentum will continue and carry forward,” he said but Carey did admit its too early to gauge any real indicators right now. T-Mobile declined to list the … [read full article]

T-Mobile Announces Lumia 521 Budget Windows Phone 8 Smartphone, Again

T-Mobile’s announced availability of the Lumia 521 all the way back in February at Mobile World Congress and Nokia’s keynote event. Which makes todays short press release the second official announcement for the Lumia 521 — coming in May to Walmart, Microsoft Retail Stores and T-Mobile retail channels. T-Mobile is playing coy with pricing and exactly availability saying they “will be shared at a later date.” Oh, how I hate that wording. The Lumia 521 brings … [read full article]

Google’s Redesigned Play Store Is Out, Now Emphasizes Discovery And Simplified Purchasing

Say hello to a “fresh new look” for Android’s Play Store as it was just unveiled by Google. The rumored redesign starts rolling out now for both Android phones and tablets. The new design has been engineered to focus more on bigger images that will jump right out at you. Google has grouped similarly themed content together so you can better find that magazine or app to read or try. Scrolling down a little more … [read full article]

Strangest Commercial Ever Offers T-Mobile Customers $100 Credit To Switch To Virgin Mobile

Hello again Virgin Mobile and thank you very much for the creepiest commercials ever. Seriously, Virgin’s second commercial in two years aimed directly at stealing T-Mobile customers is perhaps the oddest commercial I’ve seen in recent wireless industry history. A brain jumping on a chair is somehow appealing and makes me want to switch carriers, riiiiiight. I’m usually pretty critical of T-Mobile’s marketing but at least I don’t cringe when I watch them and Carly was … [read full article]

T-Mobile Retail Stores Start Prepping For iPhone Launch As Uniforms, Demo Units Begin Arriving

With the iPhone launch on T-Mobile just four days away, T-Mobile’s retail locations are getting ready with brand-new “uniforms” and demo inventory. T-Mobile isn’t a stranger to rolling out new T-Shirts as part of major launches, and the Magenta color certainly screams T-Mobile and iPhone at one. As for the demo devices, we don’t expect T-Mobile to receive customer inventory until the night before the launch, but … [read full article]

Best Buy Internal Doc Says Simple Choice Plans Coming At End Of “Fiscal Year”, Classic Plans Still Available

Perhaps one of the most confusing and poorly explained aspects of T-Mobile’s new Simple Choice offering is how it works with third-party retailers and authorized dealers. I’ve tried to do all that I can on my end with TmoNews to help explain that what company-owned channels offer is different from other T-Mobile sales channels. That’s why I found this Best Buy screengrab so useful as it helps explain exactly what you can and cannot do at a … [read full article]

Samsung Galaxy S II Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update Now Available

I bet most Galaxy S II owners didn’t see this coming as T-Mobile updated the GSII support page this morning with the introduction of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. As the update is optional, the only installation method is through Samsung’s Kies software. The manual download to T989UVMC6 will enable Android 4.1.2 and weighs in around 756MB for the download. The Jelly Bean update features a speedier interface, a higher system frame rate combined with some architecture rework … [read full article]

New Google Play Redesign Leaks Yet Again As “Babel” Chat Name Surfaces Inside Of Gmail

A new leak coming out of a Google+ posting yesterday is giving us another look at the upcoming Play Store redesign. First things first, as you can see with the dog bone in the corner, Google is “dogfooding” this new design internally to employees and shows a brand new landing page than discovered in a leak this past March. All that means that what we see now is subject to change the build is for employees … [read full article]

Is Sony Set To Finally Return To T-Mobile’s Lineup? Magic 8-Ball Says “Signs Point To Yes”

It’s taken me the better half of two weeks to confirm this unicorn was definitively floating around in T-Mobile’s world, but it seems Sony may be ready to make a return to the Magenta network. After having an “it’s complicated” status for what seems like an eternity, I’ve managed to “confirm” via three separate sources that the Xperia Z (Yuga) is being tested. Before you set aside your interest in other upcoming Android launches on T-Mobile, I’ll remind … [read full article]
