T-Mobile CTO suggests 2019 may be opportunity to move to all-LTE network

With the prevalence of 4G LTE coverage and devices, there’s been some discussion of shutting down older networks. Today T-Mobile CTO Neville Ray touched on the topic as it relates to T-Mo. T-Mobile launching LTE-U in spring 2017 to increase LTE capacity

After running tests with Qualcomm in early 2016, T-Mobile today announced plans to officially launch LTE-U (LTE for unlicensed). T-Mobile says that it’ll launch LTE-U network capabilities and devices this spring. OpenSignal compares US carriers’ LTE by region, T-Mobile finishes first or second each

After releasing its State of Mobile Networks: USA report last week, OpenSignal today shared a follow-up report that shows how the four major US carriers stack up in the different regions of the USA. T-Mobile did pretty well for itself in both of OpenSignal’s 2016 US mobile network reports, and that trend has continued into 2017. OpenSignal today released its new State of Mobile Networks USA report, which measured the networks of the four major US carriers between October 1 and December 31, 2016. Days ahead of the presidential inauguration, T-Mobile has announced that it’s beefed up its coverage in Washington, DC. T-Mobile has rolled out new LTE features like 4×4 MIMO and 256 QAM to improve its coverage in DC. T-Mobile shares end-of-year network update

With 2016 coming to a close, T-Mobile has decided to share an end of year update on its network. T-Mobile CTO Neville Ray revealed today that T-Mo’s LTE network now covers 313 million people.
