Cupcake FINALLY coming?

androidcupcake2

I think we can all live without recapping the large number of cupcake rumors/delays and more rumors. With that in mind and judging by emails coming into my inbox and this report from Engadgetmobile we’re starting to see users FINALLY getting their cupcake fill. T-mobile is still allowing for early June for all G1 users to receive their upgrade so if you don’t get it within the next 7 minutes, don’t huff and puff and blow the house down! Patience young padawans, patience! Sound off in the comments if you are already graced with your cupcake!

Here She Is!

We previewed this already and knew it was coming, but here comes Mrs. Douglas herself! We here at Tmonews would like to congratulate T-mobile for actively encouraging the use of a independent site! Bravo to them for using Billshrink.com, to promote their low cost offerings and showcase T-mobile, who will almost always come out on top when compared to the other national carriers. More minutes, more value, less money, any questions?

Hello Catherine!!

17098927_31515fd000

This just might be the most exciting news for T-mobile ever! Well not really, but I sure wouldn’t mind seeing Catherine Zeta Jones back in the saddle as the full time T-mobile official spokesperson. Seems as though I might get my wish to if emails in my inbox prove accurate. T-mobile announced today a campaign dedicated to helping people save money on their wireless service. It goes without saying that these days every penny can count and T-mobile wants to illustrate that by showing off its lower than the competition pricing. We got early wind of this campaign a few days back, the official announcement comes today with the kickoff of the Catherine Zeta Jones commercial appearing tonight during the finale of American Idol. To recap, T-mobile will direct customers, present and future to Billshrink.com where they can provide bits of information about their current service, minute usage etc and compare against the competition. With the idea that 8 out of 10 people unwittingly paying more than necessary for their wireless service, T-mobile knows they have a competitive advantage with the lowest pricing of any national carrier. T-mobile will cross the advertising spectrum utilizing her Welshness to help spread the word about mobilemakeover through online advertising, local radio, out-of-home advertising, retail collateral, and also online video opportunities.

“Providing great wireless coverage at a great price is at the heart of what T-Mobile offers,” said Denny Marie Post, chief marketing officer, T-Mobile USA, Inc. “We’re so confident that T-Mobile provides the best overall experience for a majority of Americans, we’re willing to put our value to the test by pointing people to an independent source. And while we may not come out on top each and every time, we believe a majority of people will see T-Mobile offers them the value they want, and the best experience in wireless.”

Of course, this post wouldn’t be complete without a comment from Catherine herself:

“As an avid T-Mobile customer, I’m delighted once again to help T-Mobile carry its message to millions of Americans about the great value they deliver,” Zeta-Jones said. “The Mobile Makeover campaign is a smart way to show consumers that they could save some serious money.

Time For Some Promised 3G!

my3ginfo

Unfortunately some of the above dates have already come and gone, so T-mobile users in both Springfield and Rockford should already be enjoying what is 3G goodness. Henderson, NV and Wichita Falls, TX T-mobile residents however have only but a few hours left before they too can enjoy the high speed freedom and clear voice quality that comes with 3G love. While the latter cities were mentioned for June in our April 3G city expose, we know all to well these days are subject to change, and change frequently. Rockford and Springfield residents, are you feeling the 3G love yet? Sound off in the comments!

Another Android Video Leak

Thanks to our friends at Phonedog, we are getting a look at what is purported to be an HTC skinning of the Android interface complete with widgets, gadgets, lion, tigers and bears. Best guess, according to John from Phonedog is that its similar to the HTC Touchflo interface for Windows Mobile devices, this time just for Android. This doesn’t have the appearance of the “Donut” follow up to Cupcake, more likely just HTC going to work on their own Android makeover.

Thanks to John at Phonedog!

Oy, Cupcake Gets Pushed Back!

g1june

After all that talk, all the anticipation, patient waiting and who knows what else we were that close to Cupcake. So close we could taste it, feel it and for some lucky few, using it. Unfortunately, as the image states, T-mobile is still working out the last few kinks and has pushed the rollout date back by at “approximately” a week. We’re hoping that they sincerely mean just one week and not two but time will tell. Try not to throw fits of anger right now, we’ve waited this long, one more week won’t be the end of the world!

Still Have Questions About Cupcake?!

gview

I know cupcake has taken up quite a bit of the news spots lately and for good reason, a million G1 users is a user base that can’t be ignored. So here we go, one more addition to the cupcake news cycle and then hopefully, and if you are still unfamiliar with the cupcake update then this sheet courtesy of our tipster might answer some questions. Of course, if you are a G1 user and unfamiliar with cupcake, you probably aren’t reading here anyway. Either way, the above shot continues to confirm the completion of the cupcake OTA rollout by the end of May, so those of you impatiently waiting may still have a little bit of time to go, but at least you know with continued confirmation by what day you should have received it. Of course if you really want to see whats upcoming for Android, check out the video below as a young hacker apparently got ahold of the HTC Hero software, possibly the “Donut” followup to cupcake and showcases a whole lot of Android goodness.
