T-Mobile launches Connecting Heroes, offering free service to first responders

T-Mobile first announced its Connecting Heroes initiative back in November, and today it officially goes live. T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert today revealed that first responder agencies can now sign up for free wireless service from T-Mo as part of its Connecting Heroes initiative. T-Mobile 5G surpasses 1Gbps speeds in New York City

T-Mobile recently flipped the switch on its 2.5GHz 5G in New York City, and it looks like the new spectrum is always paying off in a big way for T-Mo. Speed tests have shown that T-Mobile’s 5G network in NYC is breaking the 1 gigabit barrier using 2.5GHz. When people began sheltering in place to fight the spread of the coronavirus, T-Mobile gained access to additional 600MHz spectrum to help its network handle the extra load.
