Nexus One Pricing Leaked

nexusone_pricing1

Update: The terms of sale have leaked via a PDF that while dated for November 17th pretty much details the process by which you buy this phone. Read here.

This is the moment you’ve all been waiting for! The guys over at Gizmodo have got their paws on what seems to be an internal Google document revealing pricing for the HTC Nexus One, both subsidized and unsubsidized. Getting right to the point, the Nexus One will be $530 unsubsidized and $180 subsidized with a new 2-year contract with T-Mobile. Here are some details to take note of:

-$530 Unsubsidized price tag

-$180 Subsidized (new 2-year contract)

If you want the phone at the $180 subsidized price there is a catch. There’s only one rate plan: $39.99 Even More 500 mins + Text + Web for $79.99 (umm…What if I want unlimited minutes?). According to Gizmodo’s Tipster, existing customers cannot keep their plan if they want a subsidized phone; they have to change to the one plan, and this only applies to accounts with one single line. Family plans, Flexpay, SmartAccess and KidConnect subscribers must buy the phone unlocked and unsubsidized for $530. Also you can only buy five Nexus One phones per Google account. Google will sell the handset at www.google.com/phone.

And if you cancel your plan before 120 days, you have to pay the subsidy difference between what you paid and the unsubsidized price, so $350 in this case. Or you can return the phone to Google. You also authorize them to charge this directly to your credit card.

Google’s set up some pretty tight requirements. Seriously though, what is up with only being able to get the Nexus One subsidized at that one price plan? 500 mins, I go through that in less than 2 weeks. I really hope Google makes some last minute changes to their requirements.

How’s the pricing looking? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

Google Announces Android Press Conference For January 5th

google_event1

Nexus One news just keeps coming today, first T-Mobile “officially” stating they will support the “Google Android device” and now Google announcing a press event on January 5th in Mountain View. We believe this is definitely related to the HTC Nexus One. Google states:

With the launch of the first Android-powered device just over a year ago, we’ve seen how a powerful, open platform can spur mobile product innovation. And this is just the beginning of what’s possible.

Please join us in Mountain View on January 5, for an Android press gathering.

Let’s see what other surprises Google has in store for us. No word on pricing, but stay tuned and don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments!

T-Mobile “Officially” Confirms Google Phone

streamline

Update: Our sources are confirming  a January 5th date, 9am, ordering through Google ONLY. Sadly, still no word on pricing.

T-Mobile has gone and made their expected support of the Google Phone aka Nexus One “official” this morning, albeit in a vague sort of way. According to our sources, through an internal system T-Mobile is reporting they are getting an Android device but won’t do any support for it other than “billing, coverage, features and rate plans, as we have previously stated. All troubleshooting and exchanges will be managed by Google and HTC. Launch is ‘early January.’” That’s all we’re hearing right now but we’re reaching out to sources across the board looking to find out more. Hopefully we’ll have some pictures here in a few minutes!

Right now we are hearing January 5th still, early in the morning but we can’t say if thats T-Mobile, Google or both. Hopefully with this new confirmed information, leaks will get a little more “leakable” regarding launch dates, pricing etc…

Just Another Nexus One Update

DSCN0185

There is no doubt about it, the Nexus One is the hot topic right now, and while it’s starting to pain me to update every small finding on this phone, this one is important.  Tnkgrl was allowed a moment or two with the Nexus one, and while unable to take pictures or video she did come away with some nice impressions.  She found, to my dismay, that there is no multitouch in the browser or in Google Maps, yet.. (why Google, why?).  Not only that, but it is reportedly fairly thin and all together gorgeous.  Let’s hope that something changes in the next month, because the lack of multitouch is starting to get annoying.  Full list of impressions after the break and leave your thoughts in the comments!
