Pre-orders for the T-Mo Galaxy Note 4 have already gone live, with the device expected to land on store shelves as soon as next Friday. And it has also been confirmed that it will be compatible with T-Mobile’s A-block 700MHz frequency LTE band. Known also as Band 12 LTE, it’s … [read full article]
Just a short while ago, Ericsson confirmed that it is involved in helping T-Mobile with its various LTE networks. Today, yet another European company has announced that it is – also – involved in helping T-Mobile with carrier aggregation. Nokia’s head of technology for T-Mobile confirmed as much in a statement to Fierce Wireless today. “As part of the agreement, Nokia Networks … [read full article]
T-Mobile’s been on something of a mass spectrum hunt in recent weeks and months. Yet another FCC filing reveals plans to acquire more A-block airwaves from Triad 700MHz in Reno, Nevada and Anchorage, Alaska. If completed, it would see T-Mobile add another 2.43 million POPs to its potential A-block coverage. When you add the 2.43 million to the 13.45 million POPs we’ve already reported, that gets you 15.88 million POPs. Only around 2 million short of the … [read full article]
T-Mobile has done incredibly well to get its LTE network from 0 to “nationwide” within the space of 18 months. Even more impressive perhaps is that it’s upgrading networks to being some of the fastest connections around thanks to technologies like wideband LTE and 4×2 MiMo. But still, for those living on the outskirts, or in smaller cities with no LTE, none of that really matters. And so we like to hear when T-Mo’s 4G network starts … [read full article]
This week, it’s been revealed that T-Mobile is involved in several new transactions to acquire yet more 700MHz spectrum in a number of new markets. The updated map above shows the markets where it holds spectrum in magenta, with other proposed acquisitions marked in different colors. A deal with Frontier would see T-Mo add 700MHz spectrum in Rochester, NY, covering around 1.51 million POPs. Another transaction with Kurian would see low-band spectrum networks in the markets around … [read full article]
We’ve received information from sources that T-Mobile’s plan to make both the new Personal Cellspot Router and LTE Signal Booster available today hasn’t come to fruition. Instead, retail staff are being advised – tentatively – that POS enhancements and system updates will be pushed on Friday, September 26. It could be later than that, but that’s the day they’re aiming for. Each account – we’re told – can have 2 CellSpot devices. Particularly helpful if customers have … [read full article]
Ericsson revealed yesterday evening that it’s been chosen by T-Mobile to build out the company’s newer 700MHz and 1900MHz LTE networks. And the news should come as no surprise, since the Swedish company has been used in the past to build a lot of the first T-Mo LTE network. Ericsson has started building the new 4G base station equipment for the A-block, band 12 LTE network currently in its infancy. As well as that, it’s also involved … [read full article]
Not long ago we heard of plans T-Mobile had to activate its long-awaited LTE network in downtown Cincinnati. We’d initially been told that we should expect it sometime between the middle and end of October, but it seems Magenta’s network magicians have got it live far sooner than planned. We’ve received a number of sightings in various parts of downtown Cincinatti, and the west … [read full article]
Some interesting tidbits of information to share with you this morning. I’ve collected a couple of really interesting updates regarding T-Mobile’s network expansion and improvement. First off, is a really handy map which shows the markets where T-Mo already owns 700MHz spectrum, and the areas in which it has agreed to buy. Tip of the hat to one of our readers, Edward for pointing it out to me. . 700MHz Spectrum Map The pink areas show where … [read full article]
T-Mobile’s product guru, Des Smith (aka @askdes) has officially shown off the brand new Cel-Fi made LTE Signal Booster. Like the Asus router, it comes with the Personal Cellspot branding. As we’d already discovered, the new Signal Booster comes with a more attractive design than its 3G/4G predecessors. Granted, it’s still a black plastic box, but at least it’s been given a splash of colour with the trademarked Magenta livery The latest signal booster is … [read full article]
