T-Mobile details network upgrades in Minneapolis ahead of Super Bowl LII

T-Mobile expands LTE Advanced coverage, says Gigabit Class LTE available to some devices

T-Mobile today gave us an update on its LTE Advanced rollout. T-Mo says that its LTE Advanced coverage, which can up to double download speeds, is now available in more than 920 markets. The combination of 4×4 MIMO, 256 QAM, and carrier aggregation is available in 430 of those markets. T-Mobile could offer near gigabit LTE speeds in 2017

T-Mobile has won awards for the speed of its network, and next year T-Mo could offer speeds near one gigabit. T-Mobile CTO Neville Ray teased this week that in 2017, T-Mo could be “approaching gigabyte LTE speeds.” He explained that with 4×4 MIMO and three-way carrier aggregation, T-Mobile can do about 400Mbps each. T-Mobile three-channel carrier aggregation testing spotted in Dallas

Much of T-Mobile’s LTE focus lately has been on its Extended Range LTE rollout, but T-Mo has also been working on another major LTE improvement. Reddit user dallas75252 recently discovered that T-Mobile is testing three-channel carrier aggregation in Dallas, Texas. Ericsson chosen by T-Mobile to build out the new 700MHz and 1900MHz LTE networks

Ericsson revealed yesterday evening that it’s been chosen by T-Mobile to build out the company’s newer 700MHz and 1900MHz LTE networks.
