Just a quick heads up, I’m sure you guys will love to hear. Wi-Fi calling on an iPhone is finally here, and can be used. iOS 8 beta 3, which has just been released to registered iOS developers, includes a feature we read about during WWDC – Wi-Fi calling. Within the Settings app, the Wi-Fi calling feature can be toggled on or off. In the menu – above – it states that “Wi-Fi calling will not work … [read full article]
Last week we were informed by our sources that T-Mobile is planning to make accessories available on its Equipment Installment Plan (EIP). In its current state, customers can buy phones and tablets without paying anything up front, instead, spreading the cost over 24 months interest-free. And the same will be possible with premium accessories from July 20th, at least, if the memo we were sent turns … [read full article]
T-Mobile’s Windows Phone lineup is somewhat sparse, to say the least. But this summer, numbers of Microsoft devices on T-Mo store shelves will be increasing. The budget-friendly Lumia 635 is on its way, and a leak revealed we’d see a Lumia 2520 tablet soon too. And, if a recent tweet from @evleaks is … [read full article]
As any of you regular readers will know, we’ve been keeping tabs on T-Mobile’s network expansion over the past few weeks. In the space of a couple of months, we’ve seen an increasing number of new LTE sites going live, VoLTE being activated in more locations and wideband LTE being switched on. But it’s difficult, even with those individual reports, to get a real sense of how fast T-Mo is expanding its reach. Thankfully, one of our … [read full article]
Nokia’s Lumia 2520 tablet caused a ripple of excitement back when it was launched last December. It was Nokia’s first attempt at a Windows-based tablet, and it looked really cool. Its full HD, 10.1-inch, 16:9 ratio IPS display acts as the portal through which you enter the world of Windows RT. What’s more, it’s equipped with category 4 LTE, giving it a theoretical top download speed of 150Mbps. It also has a 6.7MP rear camera with Carl … [read full article]
Happy 4th of July, TmoNews readers! Yes, I know, I’m British. Independence day for me is just a Sci-Fi movie where the Fresh Prince takes on some earth-invading aliens. Enjoy your day of celebration, not working, and lots more celebration. I have one or two pieces to share with … [read full article]
Leading up to the Uncarrier 5.0 event last month, we received information that T-Mobile would be simplifying bills to include a clearer breakdown. And, while it wasn’t part of the Uncarrier announcements, changes are being made. Customers will begin receiving new, simplified bills this month. But you don’t have to rely on photos sent through to us to get the … [read full article]
As you no doubt read earlier this week, the FTC launched an allegation that T-Mobile is guilty of “cramming”. Or – in other terms – charging customers for premium content, hiding the charges in customer bills, and making a tidy profit. And, although it was unsettling for all T-Mo fans and customers, it was – by all accounts – about the bigger … [read full article]
Accessories have become a bigger part of the picture when it comes to smartphone sales in recent days. Particularly when it comes to smartwatches and audio products like Beats’ headphones. But they don’t come cheap. A pair of Beats Solo HD earphones will set you back $199 at a T-Mobile retail store, or online at T-Mobile.com. Likewise, a Gear Fit will cost you the same, as will the Gear 2 Neo. A Gear 2 will make you … [read full article]

Our inbox has yet again been filled with first-time LTE sightings, wideband LTE and VoLTE spots. Neville Ray’s network team is still pushing hard to get this network as strong and quick as possible. It would make sense, given the latest phase of Uncarrier, to get the network to a competitive level. After all, there’s no point offering a 7-day test drive of your network if it’s useless. One reader got in touch from Taft, California where … [read full article]
