Is The Lack Of A Front Facing Camera On The Vibrant A Deal-Breaker?

Like it or not, the Samsung Vibrant is the T-Mobile phone of the moment.  It’s handily one of the most powerful phones in the T-Mobile lineup and yet one feature has a great deal of you up in arms, the lack of a front-facing camera.  Video chat via cell phone is nothing new as those in Japan, Europe and numerous other parts of the world have been using the service for years.  However, the sudden resurgence … [read full article]

Motorola Charm In The Wild, Material Arriving In Stores?

Well, look what we have here.  It’s the very first image of the Motorola Basil/Charm in the wild!  Sent via pony express, our source was able to get a small hands-on last week with the device and came away with one interesting worthy note, the inclusion of a similar touchpad-like feature on the back of the device ala the Backflip on AT&T.  Not much else was gained from this hands-on, specifically the version of Android it’s … [read full article]

Garminfone Sales Sluggish?

I really would love to feign surprise here but let’s just be honest and say this was almost expected.  According to Morgan Keegan analyst Yair Reiner, only around 20,000 Garminfones have made it into the hands of customers.  Offering little more than a full-on navigation platform, the device itself runs an outdated Android version, at 1.6, combined with its custom tailored menu which definitely makes it a niche device.  That being said, these numbers haven’t been … [read full article]

Now let me just say that we don’t know the context under which it was taken but our belief is that T-Mobile is planning on milking HSPA+ for all that its worth and concentrating on the speed of … [read full article]

First off, Happy Fourth of July!  Now, let’s get this started.  Everything after this point should be placed in the RUMOR folder.  You might remember talks of a new HTC Android phone with a full QWERTY keyboard when we were all going crazy over Project Emerald.  We said then that the rumored device was called the HTC Vision.  Back to present day, a picture of the so called HTC Vision has surfaced.  They say that this … [read full article]

Motorola Charm Unveils Itself For Back To School

As Independence Day looms,  you may be realizing that the summer is almost over.  Some may be dreading it, others won’t care, but we can all agree on one thing, back to school promotions are great.  What does T-Mobile have to offer for those school going folk?  Well, a nice free messaging phone for those text-savvy (see what I did there?) back to schoolers.  More to the point though.  From the picture, you can see the [read full article]

Mossberg Reviews T-Mobile’s HSPA+ Network

Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg (yes, him), took some time out of his busy Apple dominated schedule to review the less interesting parts of wireless networks.  That less interesting part being the actual network.  In his test, he compared the new 3G iPhone 4 with the MyTouch Slide and the webConnect Rocket with Verizon’s UM175 modem.  He found that T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network beat the competition in all the tests.  His results are as … [read full article]

As the Sidekick line remains an iconic part of the T-Mobile brand it seems fitting to introduce an Android based Sidekick incorporating the best of both worlds, mainly the Android OS and the Sidekick form factor. Stay tuned! Today, T-Mobile announced that it will be discontinuing its Sidekick handset line. Magenta … [read full article]
