Unsurprisingly, Verizon’s unhappy with FCC’s plans to make spectrum auctions more competitive

Sprint and T-Mobile are doing the best they can to push the FCC in to making a decision on airwave auctions that would see the system changed to be more favorable to the smaller guys. Both carriers have increased lobbying budgets and contacted regulators over 24 times this year. Putting as much time and money in as possible because the upcoming spectrum auction could be the largest we’ve seen in the U.S. since … [read full article]

Analysts predict success for T-Mobile throughout 2014 thanks to Uncarrier momentum

There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that T-Mobile’s Uncarrier movement is a big hit. It’s not just bringing in more customers for T-Mobile than it’s had in years, it’s also forcing other carriers to change their ways and compete. The most recent example of this was Sprint’s promotion, offering up to $650 to customer for trading in, and switching networks. Essentially, a point-by-point copy of … [read full article]

OpenSignal testing ranks T-Mobile’s LTE fastest network in the U.S.

It’s all well and good claiming that your network is the biggest and fastest, but, if user testing doesn’t back it up, there’s no validity to those claims. Turns out, Tmo’s claims at CES in January that it has the fastest network (based on Ookla Speed Test results) are backed up by another set of results, recently published by OpenSignal. Of all the top 4 carriers, T-Mobile’s network was found to be the fastest on average, with … [read full article]

T-Mobile comes out on top in LTE latency comparison

Fierce Wireless – in partnership with OpenSignal – has published its most recent wireless network latency comparison. And just like the last one, it’s showing T-Mobile’s network in particularly favorable light. Latency – for those unaware – is a key statistic many ignore and pay no attention too, despite the fact that in real-life use, it makes a considerable difference to the network performance.
