Today marked the second hearing by members of Congress regarding the proposed acquisition of T-Mobile by rival AT&T held before the House of Representatives’ subcommittee on intellectual property, competition and the internet. AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson stuck to his message that this deal was “all about consumers” which was of course rebutted quite frequently by other members of the panel. Parul P. We just received this internal screenshot showing T-Mobile’s plan to increase the price of the T-Mobile G2x tomorrow due to “inventory constraints.” I suppose we have truly entered the era of the $300 smartphone now that T-Mobile is taking a lesson from Verizon who priced the DROID Charge at $299.99 when it launched earlier this month. You won’t have to wait long.” Fast forward thirty days and we’re back in the same scenario with T-Mobile responding to another question regarding Gingerbread on the G2x and responding with “T-Mobile plans … [read full article]

This time Leap Wireless has come out and verbally opposed the deal arguing that the merger would harm consumers due to reduced competition. Along with the reduction in competition Leap argues that too much power would be consolidated into the hands of just two wireless carriers. “We oppose the proposed acquisition. A competitive marketplace is … [read full article]

Samsung should take note of this next time they want to look back at the Vibrant Froyo debacle and rethink their decision to remain quiet. For the unfamiliar, … [read full article]
