Download G2X Gingerbread Now Instead of ‘Summer’

Life’s Good, especially if you have a G2X right now.  No, the G2X Gingerbread update is not coming OTA right now (just wait) but you can download Gingerbread for your G2X right now.  What you’ll need is a data cable, a Windows computer, your G2X and this LG Updater.  Should be quite simple.  I can understand if you want to wait for an official announcement and OTA update from T-Mobile, but … [read full article]

AT&T Still Confident About Acquisition

In short, AT&T had an earnings report today and had a few statements regarding the process of the merger.  Wayne Watts, of AT&T, told those listening in that they are still confident that the merger will be approved by the FCC and DOJ in the first quarter of 2012.  Specifically, AT&T “remain[s] confident that [they] can satisfy the FCC and DOJ.”  So nothing has really changed.  In other news, that’s my favorite picture … [read full article]

LG Speaks Up, Official G2X Update “By Summer”

Right on the heels of the LG G2X class action lawsuit, LG has finally pitched in with something to say.  Unfortunately, their response isn’t really good news.  Their statement, issued by an LG moderator at LG Forum, is that: “The official word for the Gingerbread update on G2x is ‘by summer’ and all of the internal discussions thus far have it launching very close to that timeframe.  When we receive any updated information we will update … [read full article]

New 42 Mbps Smartphones Coming From HTC, Samsung and LG

There’s this very vague report going around about new 42 Mbps smartphones coming to T-Mobile in the second half of this year, made by HTC, LG and Samsung.  I’m just going to come right out and say it, “Well, duh!”  This should come as no surprise, it’s about as solid of a story as that great Samsung phone from yesterday (which is actually quite solid).  With a network that supports 42 Mbps, T-Mobile would … [read full article]

Verizon’s COO Bets The Merger Will Happen

This saga just won’t end, and frankly I’m kind of sick of it.  Anyways, Verizon’s COO Lowell McAdam came out saying that he believes the merger will go through, mostly because “AT&T needs the spectrum and is motivated enough to [acquire T-Mobile], and will agree with what the government will want.”  So essentially, he thinks that it will go through because AT&T just wants it and had money.  I’m still betting on the underdog. … [read full article]

U.S. Senator Herb Kohl Comes Out Against AT&T/T-Mobile Deal

Senator Herb Kohl, Chairman of the US Senate Antitrust Subcommittee has written the FCC urging them to block the proposed AT&T buyout of T-Mobile stating that the buyout “would likely cause substantial harm to competition and consumers would be contrary to antitrust law and not in the public interest, and therefore should be blocked by your agencies.” He specially points out that T-Mobile would effectively be eliminated from the market. The Senator’s comments comes on the … [read full article]
