Donuts Served to the Masses

As the extending dessert list led us to believe, Google and Android has dished out Donut (well technically, they dropped new code for Android Donut).  Some people over at XDA Developers are reporting that Donut will be stuffed with system-wide multitouch, universal search, text to speech, automated backups, a new camera app, and somehow (supposedly) better performance (sounds yummy).  There also seems to be some CDMA support (for those lucky Sprint and possibly Verizon customers).  The … [read full article]

More Android Desserts to Come

http://the-mobiler.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/android-550x420.jpg

Android just seems to get sweeter and sweeter with every update, and we now know the names of the next three.  Google will be dishing out healthy servings of Donut, Eclair and Flan sometime this year.  I don’t know about you, but I’m wondering what dessert they pick when they reach “x” (in case you missed it, the updates are named alphabetically and are based off desserts).  Not much has been said about the new updates … [read full article]

Confirming The Confirmed

It is now July and we are fast approaching an onslaught of phone releases on our favorite carrier.  While none of these phones are huge surprises, since they have all been outed already, they can still be important to some people and think of this as a friendly reminder.  The launch dates have also been confirmed, but this will be a nifty roundup of upcoming phones.  First off, we have the Dash 3G releasing July … [read full article]

HTC Touch Pro2, Official

Well, well, well, what do we have here.  It seems as if T-Mobile has outed its very own Touch Pro2 variant in an official manner, with Twitter of course.  The twitter post leaves much to be desired (seriously? no picture link, special webpage or launch date).  They do however, get our mouths watering by tempting us with keeping the very special Touch Pro2 in our very own holster.  We are staying … [read full article]

Official Sense UI comes to G1, unofficially

Last week HTC held a press conference to release the HTC Hero and, more importantly to some, the Sense UI. I, along with many other Android fans, was extremely excited for this great UI, then we found out that the magnificent Sense UI was not coming to Google branded phones. Well, not much time has passed and what appears to be a nearly final version of the Hero’s firmware, which just happens to be … [read full article]

MyTouch 3G News, Again

While we continue to hear more and more news surrounding the announcement of the upcoming HTC Android device (and other Android phones), known fondly as the MyTouch 3G, it seems as though some more pictures have been leaked (by one of our very own).  The pictures, yes multiples, show the device in black and have the MyTouch branding.  As much as I liked the white version, the black just looks heavenly (okay, so that may … [read full article]

Around the Bend, Huawei and Android

Remember that phone, debuted at MWC, that looked like….dare I say it….but was running Android? Yeah, that one.  Well now it is all grown up and doesn’t resemble the iPhone ( BOO!) quite as much. It seems like a few more months in processing has made it look more like an HTC Touch Pro 2 (YAY!).  Few specifics are known about this phone as of yet, but it will hold a 3.5 inch touch screen … [read full article]
