T-Mobile added low-band LTE to more cell sites in the past two weeks

Days after announcing a mid-band LTE capacity expansion, T-Mobile has confirmed an expansion of low-band LTE, too. T-Mobile CTO Neville Ray says that T-Mo added more low-band LTE to dozens of cell sites across the country in the past two weeks. This low-band LTE expansion includes 600MHz and 700MHz spectrum. Apple website security flaw exposed account PINs of T-Mobile customers

It looks like T-Mobile isn’t the only company to have a major security issue recently. A security flaw with Apple’s online store exposed the account PINs of T-Mobile customers. That’s according to a report from BuzzFeed News, who says that a separate flaw with phone insurance company Asurion’s website exposed the passcodes of AT&T customers. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S8 Active receiving updates on T-Mobile

A couple of recent Samsung smartphones are now receiving software updates on T-Mobile. First up, T-Mobile is pushing an update to its Galaxy Note 9. The update weighs in at 215.24MB and is version N960USQU1ARH2. T-Mobile experienced a data breach on August 20th

UPDATE: T-Mobile has told Motherboard that the breach affected around 3 percent of its 77 million customers — around 2.3 million people — and that that the hackers were part of an “international group”. UPDATE 2: T-Mobile has confirmed that “encrypted passwords” were part of the data compromised by the hackers. Lately, T-Mobile has steadily been rolling out more mid-band LTE capacity every couple of weeks or so, and today another round of upgrades has been confirmed.
