HTC And T-Mobile Present A Year Of Rewards

HTC_YOR_tmonews

HTC is starting off the year with some pretty freakin’ awesome deals. From January 20 to March 23 2010, when you buy and activate a qualifying HTC Windows Phone you can receive rewards and discounts worth up to $500. There are three devices that will qualify for this offer: the T-Mobile Shadow, HTC Touch Pro2, and the T-Mobile Dash 3G. Both new customers and existing customers can take advantage and the offer is quite simple with no surprising strings attached. All you have to do is upgrade/add a new line, or activate a new account (between January 20th and March 23rd 2010) and take advantage of the rewards/discounts. Limit 1 reward/discount per HTC phone per month. Hit the jump for all the details and a run down of all the rewards/discounts for each month! Not bad HTC, not bad at all. Nokia, where you at?

WM 6.5 Update Leaked Early

WM6.5_T-Mobile_early

In a change of pace, something is actually released early, kind of.  The last we heard, the official T-Mobile release of Windows Mobile 6.5 would be on January 20th (along with a laundry list of other happenings).  It seems, though, that the link for the direct download has been leaked.  This update is for the Dash 3G and Touch Pro 2.  Just head on over to the link, enter in your IMEI, wait, and presto, WM 6.5 just in time for the WM 6.6 or 7 to be announced. So head on over and get your fresh upgrade.  Leave your thoughts and experiences in the comments, or discuss it in the Forums!

WM 6.5 Makes Its Way To The TP2/Dash 3G, Unofficially

2010-01-07 13.44.38

So you bought the popular HTC Touch Pro 2 but are having problems living with Windows Mobile 6.1.  Well, we may just have a cure.  If you happened to be stalking around the forums (they are the happiest place on Earth, but you knew that) around 1 Eastern you may have noticed an unofficial update to the WM6.5 ROM, with HTC’s Sense UI and T-Mobile USA features (like My Faves), that could be downloaded.  Well, the should be famous T1 Connect went ahead and tried it himself, and it works.  Unfortunately, the original download link no longer has the file.  Don’t worry though, because T1 has you covered there as well.  If you shoot him a Personal Message in the forums, I’m sure he will be more than happy to send you the ROM for the TP2 and the Dash 3G.  Now, if you are worried about this somewhat shady download and update process, then just hold tight because we are hearing that the official update will be coming around the 20th of January.  Leave your love in the comments!

TmoNews Forums, with a lot of thanks to T1 Connect, oh, and everything is originally from the T-mobile Forums

And now, a brief message and some photos from the friendly T1 Connect after the break.

Update: Direct download links added.  Thanks again T1 Connect

T-Mobile To Release Windows Mobile 6.5 Next Month?

tmobile_touchpro2_qwerty_zoom

The good news is that this isn’t the 400th article this month talking about a potential Sprint/T-Mobile merger. The better news is that this rumor has a stronger chance of coming true than a Sprint/T-Mobile merger. One of my trusty ninjas hit me up tonight with information claiming that a Windows Mobile 6.5 update will see the light of day for the TouchPro2 and Dash 3G beginning January 6th, 2010. No other info was offered up with this date, though I assume it’ll be a pretty straight forward and available from T-Mobile.com. More details will be posted as we work to confirm this date, that while unconfirmed looks to be pretty solid.

Impressions: To Dash or not to Dash (3G)?

IMAGE_0081Having owned a T-Mobile Dash since July 2007 and using it as my sole device for the past two years, the recent release of the Dash 3G surely got my attention as a possible new phone upgrade. Faster processing speeds, upgraded looks, a seemingly more ergonomical design, and what surely must be a host of new features were all what I was expecting when walking into a T-Mobile store to check the device out for myself. Being my first Windows Mobile phone, the Dash has certainly given me a positive experience and was able to do much more for me than the previous phones I held before it (Samsung e105, Nokia 3220, Motorola t720!!) so I had high hopes for this newest addition to the Windows Mobile team.

What follows is my [very lengthy] in-store impression of the device. I will be outlining any immediately noticeable changes that Dash users can expect with an upgrade to the 3G version of their device. For those who continue to read on, please keep in mind that I have flashed my Dash to an up-to-date, non-branded ROM with WM 6.1 updates that never made it to T-Mobile’s official ROMs, so my point of view may slightly differ from those of you who are entirely stock. Nevertheless, I will attempt to put forth my opinion based on if I still had that lovely T-Mobile branding all over the place.

For full images and to get a better idea of what Mystic is ranting/raving about head over to infoSync, see their review of the device here!

BONUS: David rants at the end with his iPhone-loving, Windows Mobile hating words of… wisdom? Well, I don’t think we should go that far, more like nuggets of bias and *cough*Apple fanboy-ism*cough*

Dash 3G shows off it's goods…

elvis01

We recently obtained some very nice pictures in our inbox showcasing a much better view of the Dash 3G compared to the G1 and, of course, the MyTouch 3G. Doesn’t seem to leave much to the imagination when it comes to the thickness of a phone you can expect to put in your pocket – or wherever else you choose to store it. Current Dash users looking to upgrade can look forward to buttons that are bigger and appear much easier to reach than you’re used to, and a slightly more colorful look. Three more pics after the jump!

On a side note, along with this post comes a new way of previewing mages from here on out. We’re just testing it out… sound off in the comments if it works for you!

T-mobile Inventory Reveals All Part 2!

dash3g

While this won’t generate nearly the excitement as part 1 of this 3 part T-mobile inventory expose, the Dash, long a T-mobile staple will finally get the 3G boost it has so desparately needed. While we believe this to be the release name of the  Maple aka “Snap,” we’re still going to hold off saying absolutely, positively on that one until we get 100% confirmation. While we wait for that confirmation, we take comfort in knowing that T-mobile is starting to step up the 3G smartphone launches. They still have a ways to go to catch up to the likes of the Big 3, but progress is progress.
