The 4G Wars Are Definitely On Now

Following Verizon’s LTE announcement this morning, it’s really quite clear that the battle for the “4G” speed war has begun.  Early tests from bloggers and journalists  testing the Verizon network are coming back with very impressive results, although they all admit the results are on a network with almost zero load on it.  Up until this point however, T-Mobile has been widely heralded as the speed leader, a prize they may only hold until … [read full article]

Sprint Claims To Be Only “True” 4G Network, They Also Have Big Pipes

If Sprint was hoping to steer the conversation back in their direction with this, the latest entrance in the “4G” argument, they should have tried harder.  This video, which offers up a mini-tutorial on how Sprint 4G works as well as some digs at the competition, effectively does neither very well.  All I learned from this video is that Sprint apparently has a larger pipe than everyone else. Claiming that “other carriers might claim to have … [read full article]

AT&T Responds To T-Mobile’s 4G Network Claims, Does A Bad Job At It

Look, as I usually say, this is a fan site at its core so you can expect a positive T-Mobile spin on posts like this one.  I can’t argue the validity of AT&T’s point since I really wasn’t even aware they had their own HSPA+ network, which I guess is part of their argument.   “We have what you have and don’t call it what you call it.”  The bottom line is that T-Mobile is … [read full article]

Sprint Disses T-Mobile 4G Network Claims

T-Mobile officially kicked off their 4G marketing campaign tonight with the introduction of a video that took a shot across the bow of AT&T.  While we’re certain to hear an AT&T response in the next day or two, Sprint certainly took the opportunity to take a shot at T-Mobile even before the commercial ran. Sprint 4G President Matt Carter responded to T-Mobile’s claims by saying: “Halloween is over–it’s time for T-Mobile to stop dressing up like … [read full article]

Clearwire Open To Deal With T-Mobile

The end of August was the last time we saw anything regarding T-Mobile merging/dealing/combining/partnering with another carrier or other entity.  Three weeks of no similar stories is far too long for us to go so here we are back again with another report that Clearwire is “open” to a relationship with T-Mobile in some capacity.  For Clearwire, the obvious hope is raising money possibly by selling off unneeded spectrum to a partner like T-Mobile.  … [read full article]

Here We Go Again, Sprint And T-Mobile Rumors Persist

Hey guess what? Another T-Mobile and Sprint merger/acquisition/partnership/holding hands while skipping in the park rumor. This time the Wall Street Journal has stated that Sprint, or more specifically their board of directors is debating whether or not to let rival T-Mobile USA invest in Clearwire. For the record this isn’t the first time Clearwire has popped up in the T-Mobile world as outgoing CEO Robert Dotson has publicly stated that discussions … [read full article]

CNET Tests Carrier Data Speeds In NYC, T-Mobile Kills The Competition

Well well what do we have here? Senior Editor Bonnie Cha over at CNET.com decided to pit all 4 of the major carriers against one another, solely comparing data speeds. The tests, which took place in the most populous city in the United States, the one and only New York City, revealed some interesting results. In almost all of the tested areas in NYC, Magenta came out on top with the fastest 3G speeds. These … [read full article]

Sprint CEO Dan Hesse Thinks A Merger With T-Mobile Makes Sense, In Other News, The Sky Is Blue

Well I suppose this is hardly going to come as any surprise that Sprint CEO Dan Hesse has said that a merger with T-Mobile makes sense. Shock and surprise right? I think with the recent “article” (if one can call it that) of T-Mobile’s demise next years we can all admit that the carrier needs to do something. Competing against Verizon and AT&T for any carrier especially T-Mobile and Sprint is becoming increasingly … [read full article]

T-Mobile Closing Its Doors In 2011? Not So Fast!

Update: Thanks to a sharp reader I did indeed incorrectly source the Wall Street 24/7 article which states companies that WILL disappear in 2011 when the Yahoo News article erroneously states companies that MAY disappear, guess I should pay more attention too. Doesn’t change the fact that it doesn’t say the company itself will disappear, just the brand so T-Mobile may live on according to them only under a different name and perhaps different … [read full article]
