Verizon Set To Introduce JUMP!, Call It “VZ Edge” Instead

In a move that will have T-Mobile customers screaming “we had it first,” Verizon Wireless looks set to introduce “VZ Edge,” their own early upgrade plan for customers. In simple terms, Verizon will allow customers to upgrade their devices more often to “stay on the leading edge of technology.” The boys at Droid-Life got their hands on a slide right out of a Verizon training session highlighting customers ability to upgrade to a … [read full article]

Petition To End Verizon Wireless Contracts, Adopt T-Mobile-Style Approach Nears 100,000 Signatures

As Verizon changes its policies for the worse with lengthier timeframes to upgrade, customers are fighting back and petitioning the company to drop contracts altogether. Using T-Mobile’s new Simple Choice approach as a basis for the argument, Mike Beauchamp is gathering signatures by the truckload. In one sense, Verizon is already taking at least a step in the right direction even as they extend upgrade rules by allowing device payment plans … [read full article]

As T-Mobile Drops Contracts, Verizon Moves In The Opposite Direction

Editors Note: So here’s a story that just hit the wires and it made me think about why I love T-Mobile’s new UNcarrier program…because they aren’t trying to behave like Verizon.  With the release of T-Mobile’s Simple Choice plans, immediate feedback has been mostly positive, though I admit there’s been a decent amount of confusion as well. Still, as T-Mobile simplifies their rate plan choices with a one-size fits all plan … [read full article]

I’ll jump right to the conclusion and let you all in on how T-Mobile performed: T-Mobile, meanwhile, often recorded download speeds that were closer to LTE speeds than you might expect and was very close to AT&T in overall performance. … [read full article]

Newest Verizon Marketing Spot Pokes Fun At T-Mobile’s Non-Existent LTE Network

Verizon’s newest marketing spot is definitely taking some cheap shots at T-Mobile’s nonexistent LTE network. Verizon calls this a “focus group” which is probably better known as a group of low-paid actors but hey, I can’t say that for certain. Still, Verizon does have the nation’s largest LTE network, nobody is disputing that and they arguably have one of the best networks, period. Still, I can’t help but notice the absence of any … [read full article]

FCC Approves Verizon’s AWS Purchase, T-Mobile Spectrum Swap

With the Department of Justice’s stamp of approval just a week old, the FCC has given their own seal of approval to Verizon’s proposed $3.6 billion purchase of SpectrumCo AWS spectrum. Part of the FCC’s conditions for approval was a spectrum swap between Verizon and T-Mobile, which would allow T-Mobile to cover an additional 60 million people. Along with the additional pop coverage, T-Mobile will also be able to deploy LTE in … [read full article]

Verizon’s CableCo Spectrum Close To Federal Approval, T-Mobile Getting Spectrum

Verizon Wireless has received the stamp of approval from the Department of Justice, with FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski saying he supports Verizon’s to go ahead with their $3.6 billion dollar spectrum buy tom Comcast, Time Warner Cable, and Bright House Communications. While the FCC has yet to vote on the deal, it sounds like just a formality at this point. Genachowski has said he was satisfied by Verizon’s willingness to divest some … [read full article]
