While this won’t generate nearly the excitement as part 1 of this 3 part T-mobile inventory expose, the Dash, long a T-mobile staple will finally get the 3G boost it has so desparately needed. While we believe this to be the release name of the Maple aka “Snap,” we’re still going to hold off saying absolutely, positively on that one until we get 100% confirmation. While we wait for that confirmation, we take comfort in knowing that T-mobile is starting to step up the 3G smartphone launches. They still have a ways to go to catch up to the likes of the Big 3, but progress is progress.

So here we go again, rumors of the HTC Maple coming to T-mobile are heating up again. Having already seen a release date, but no official word from HTC regarding a T-mobile version we just got the most solid piece of evidence we have regarding a future launch on T-mobile. With the nickname MAPL100, an obvious short for codename “Maple” we get all the joy in the world from seeing the T-mobile AWS 3G bands written above! We’ll be much happier when Mr Blurrycam clocks in with some pics but until then, we’ll take joy in knowing passage of the FCC takes us one step closer.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

Well a quick glance at the above pic shows a number of HTC devices, some presently available and some mysteriously already inside T-mobile’s systems. So, what do we have, lets start off with the Cleo. Woops my bad, I thought Samsung Cleo for a moment here, HTC Cleo, no idea what that is! The Dash of course needs no explanation. The Dream, ah yes the Dream. Could it be that the Dream is a holding spot for our as of yet to be named next generation Android device, or something else entirely?! The excalibur? Wouldn’t that be the Dash? Am I missing something? The Maple, aka S522 aka Snap, previously thought to arrive, then thought to not be coming and now we know its arrival is indeed scheduled for later this summer. The Opal, nothing this website has ever reported on but a quick google search turned it up as the successor to the original HTC Touch. Having no concrete anything on this device coming to magenta, we’re skeptical until something leaks but realistically we’re not holding our breath. For the big finale, we’re talking Rhodium, aka Touchpro2, a device a large number of you are anticipating or should I say lusting after. For you Wing fanatics, this device needs no introduction and is almost certain to be a fantastic follow up to the popular Wing. So while nothing out of this leaked shot is concrete, we definitely have more than good reason to suspect a number of these devices exist and are coming soon. Still, its always nice to see whats really loaded in a carriers computer system.

Many of you out there are probably wondering – like we all have been – when we might be able to expect some of the goodies we’ve been hearing about lately that are coming to T-Mobile. Thanks to a trusted tipster, we’ve got some serious information here regarding phone release dates through summer. Tentative and subject to change? Sure, and it should probably go without saying that dates can change for any number of reasons, but as of now these dates are correct. So, without further ado, let’s get to the release dates, shall we? We’ll go ahead and list the known phones with codenames first. They’re right after the break…

As it turns out, the HTC Maple, now cooperatively known as the “Snap,” isn’t going to be for T-mobile after all. Sascha Segan over at PCMag points out that after the HTC unveiling of this device, the Dash successor, isn’t going to hit T-mobile after all. At least not if the 3G bands announced have anything to do with it:
“…HTC’s two Snap models have their 3G on the 850/1,900-MHz and 900/2,100-MHz bands, neither of which are compatible with T-Mobile (which runs its 3G on the 1,700-MHz band.) “
As Segan further points out, this gives the phone a launching position on AT&T where it will just be another qwerty face in the crowd. T-mobile on the other hand, could really use another 3G device (especially the full keyboard kind), where the heaviest competition would come from the Blackberry 8900. We had thoughts a T-mobile announcement was in store for this device at CTIA, but I suppose HTC has other plans.
I hate to say that I am truly not disappointed that T-mobile didn’t score this device (that keyboard is FUGLY), yet it would of course, been nice to have the device in the lineup, it’ll never make the top of my shopping. Still, if you’re truly in love with it, all hope is not lost, a T-mobile branded variant could still be waiting quietly in the wings somewhere, but I wouldn’t lose sleep over that.

Having gotten a preview earlier this month of the above device, the HTC Maple, the believable successor to the HTC Excalibur, better known to T-mobile users as the Dash. Now the guys at BoyGenius are calling for a CTIA uneveiling of the device, with the expected release date of May, as we previously thought. There is alot of expectation for this blackberry-esque shaped device complete with trackbell to make its way to our dear magenta. I don’t expect it to be an 8900 killer especially because I think the bubble like keys are awful but don’t let my impression stop you.
Quick recap from BGR on specs:
- 2.4″ QVGA display
- Qualcomm 7228 at 528MHz
- 156MB RAM / 256MB ROM
- 2 megapixel camera
- Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard
