T-Mobile’s BlackBerry Classic sale shaves nearly $70 off the ‘Berry’s price

When BlackBerry and T-Mobile ended their kerfuffle back in May, the two celebrated by unleashing the BlackBerry Classic on T-Mo’s shelves. Now the sole BlackBerry on T-Mobile’s roster is in the news again thanks to a sale. T-Mobile is now offering the BlackBerry Classic for $369.99, a full $69.93 off of the Classic’s previous price of $439.92. If you long to feel BlackBerry’s fabled physical keyboard beneath … [read full article]

Cam’s Top 5 – Unlocked Budget T-Mobile friendly phones

T-Mobile sells some of the best – and most expensive phones – on the market. But perhaps what’s surprising is that there are a bunch of affordable phones on the market that can (almost) give those devices a run for their money. And they’re not available on T-Mobile’s store shelves. While that means that they don’t come with services like Wi-Fi Calling baked in, it does mean that they’re factory unlocked and free of any of the … [read full article]

John Legere gets a “BatBerry” for his birthday

Yesterday was John Legere’s birthday, which you’ll undoubtedly already know if you’ve been following his tweets. The ever-popular outspoken CEO seemingly got a bazillion birthday tweets, a few cakes, a huge card and a batphone. But today, waiting for him back in his Seattle office was something a little special sent over by John Chen, BlackBerry’s CEO. T-Mobile and BlackBerry only recently made amends … [read full article]

BlackBerry Leap Review – A solid, productivity tool with no keyboard

You may not be able to buy it from T-Mobile, but the BlackBerry Leap might be worth your consideration if you’re one of the few people who actually likes BB OS10 on an all-touch device. It’s compatible with T-Mo’s band 2 and 4 LTE networks and you can buy it unlocked from ShopBlackBerry.com for $275 in dark grey or white. I’ve reviewed it for PhoneDog, and you can see that review in the video embedded … [read full article]

BlackBerry is back! T-Mobile to start selling the Classic from May 13

Not long ago, John Legere sent out a teaser featuring what looked like a picture of a black berry. And, true to the teaser, T-Mobile just announced that it will – once again – start selling BlackBerry devices. The BlackBerry Classic will go on sale online at T-Mobile.com and in participating stores from May 13. Time for a little fun! I’ve got some news, but maybe you can figure it out from this – guess … [read full article]

BlackBerry Leap unboxing and first impressions

BlackBerry and T-Mobile’s relationship might be temporarily on hold, but that doesn’t mean you can’t grab one of the company’s devices to use on your favorite carrier’s network. The most recent of those is the all-touch BlackBerry Leap; the company’s latest attempt at cracking the budget end of the market. It’s an interesting concept and is – sort of – the latest descendent of the BlackBerry Z10 which didn’t do so well a couple of years ago. … [read full article]

BlackBerry and T-Mobile in “positive” discussion, handsets to make a return?

During today’s Q4 earnings call – which was streamed live on YouTube for the first time – several questions were fielded after all the announcements were made. One of which came from a Twitter user who asked if BlackBerry handsets might make a return to T-Mobile. And, to those BlackBerry loyalists among the T-Mo subscriber base, Legere’s answer will come as welcome news. Although there’s nothing specific to report in terms of timeframes or guarantees, … [read full article]

Reuters: Samsung looking to buy BlackBerry for $7.5B [Update: BlackBerry denies rumor]

It’s not often a non-T-Mobile related story pops up that I think is big enough to warrant sharing with TmoNews readers, but the latest exclusive from Reuters is definitely an exception. The well-respected publication reports that Samsung has made an offer to buy BlackBerry for “as much as $7.5 billion”. Allegedly, Samsung’s prime motivation is to “gain access to its patent portfolio”. The site claims to have seen documents, as well as been told by its source “familiar … [read full article]

Over 50,000 BlackBerry users have upgraded to a new device since April’s “loyalty offer”

Back in March/April T-Mobile and BlackBerry had something of a public fallout. T-Mo had been reaching out to existing BlackBerry-toting customers offering them an upgrade to an iPhone. BlackBerry’s chief responded, calling the marketing effort “inappropriate and ill-conceived”. After various back and forths involving a trade-in offer and a $100 ShopBlackBerry discount, T-Mobile launched a new “loyalty offer” in April. Customers upgrading their BlackBerry phones for a Samsung would get a … [read full article]
