John Legere wishes his competition a merry Christmas… sort of

When it comes to company CEOs, it’s safe to say there aren’t many out there like John Legere. T-Mobile is the UN-carrier, Legere is the UN-CEO. Giving up stiff suits, shirt and tie in favor of a magenta T-shirt and Converse sneakers. He’s also not to shy to give a dig towards his competition, often calling out their sales tactics as being non customer-focussed. In that spirit, check out the Vine he just posted. It made me … [read full article]

T-Mobile’s Uncarrier 4.0 announcement to take place on Jan. 8 at CES

T-mobile is set to unveil it’s plans for the beginning of 2014, and promises to start the year with a bang. Invites have been sent out to members of the press confirming that the Uncarrier 4.0 announcement will take place on January 8th, at CES in Las Vegas. We’ve heard that it could be a plan to help customers break their ties with existing carriers. I wrote a piece on it earlier today, speculating – based on … [read full article]

What if Uncarrier 4.0 is other carriers’ early termination fees covered? [UPDATE: It probably is]

Ever since John Legere teased Uncarrier 4.0 on his twitter account earlier this week, I’ve been racking my brains trying to decide what it’s most likely to be. In terms of its own plans, value and available products, T-Mobile has done about as much as it can do to convince customers to join. It has unlimited (and unthrottled) data, international roaming, a non-contract plan, and the ability to upgrade … [read full article]

T-Mobile appoints Gary King as new CIO

It’s been a busy year for T-Mobile, and I could almost certainly forgive the company for taking a few weeks off announcements and changes for the holiday period. Shame, magenta doesn’t see it that way. Today, the company has announce the appointment of a new Chief Information Officer. Gary King has been in the technology services business for more than 30 years, most recently plying his trade at Chico’s FAS, Inc. But in the past has worked … [read full article]

Dish yet again rumored to be preparing bid for T-Mobile

A few days ago we read a report claiming that Sprint – now owned by Japanese carrier Softbank – was looking to buy out T-Mobile in 2014. Although we’re highly skeptical that the company is in a position in which a buyout is necessary, the rumors won’t stop flowing. Today, in an exclusive article, Reuters reports that its sources have further information on a bid from Dish. If … [read full article]

John Legere teases Uncarrier 4.0 on Twitter

Late last night – or at least, very early hours of the morning for me – CEO John Legere hinted at the arrival of the next phase of the Uncarrier movement. In his tweet, as you can see above, he announces that Tmo is set to release customers from another “pain point”. Exactly what that is, I don’t know, and I can only guess. So far, “pain points” already struck off the list include having … [read full article]

T-Mobile Q4 2013 earnings call to take place at 9am (ET), February 25

Over the past few quarters, T-Mobile’s been leading the way in terms of growth. Thanks to its UNcarrier strategy – in all its phases – it’s become a popular choice among US consumers. The question on everyone’s lips is “can it continue?” While Q4 is just drawing to a close, Tmo’s used it to launch some of its most attractive offers so far. Including the 200MB for life tablet promotion and $0 down on many top handsets … [read full article]

Moto G, simply the best phone under $200 [Review]

I don’t think any company’s released a more talked-about handset under $200 than Motorola with its Moto G. And for good reason. It’s the first time anyone’s really brought a great experience, and decent spec-list to a phone in that price range. I got one just over a week back and have grown to like it a lot, although it does have its problems. Design The Moto G’s design should be applauded. It feels fantastic in hand. … [read full article]

Verizon and T-Mobile close to spectrum deal according to Bloomberg

Today was supposed to be another quiet Friday for me, but I guess the powers that control leaks decided to spoil those plans. We’ve already seen reports claiming that Sprint is looking to buy T-Mobile, and now it’s rumored that Verizon and T-Mobile are close to a deal. Over the past few weeks, rumors of a VZW/Tmo deal have been gathering pace. We’ve known Verizon is keen on selling … [read full article]

WSJ: Sprint looking to buy T-Mobile US

I have to be honest, I’m not entirely sure what to make of this story, but I’m certain it’s going to create a lot of conversation and debate. According to the Wall Street Journal’s sources, Sprint is looking in to the possibility of buying out T-Mobile. This would obviously create one larger carrier capable of competing with Verizon and AT&T. Whether or not a purchase would go through is another matter entirely. AT&T tried – … [read full article]

“Un-leash with T-Mobile” ad promotes $0 down on Galaxy devices plus a sly dig at AT&T

Along with its $0 down holiday promotion on Samsung and Apple devices, T-Mobile has produced a new ad. Dubbed “Un-leash with T-Mobile” the ad focusses on the $0 down on all Galaxy devices promotion, but covers all the essential USPs (unique selling points) of Tmo. Not only are the devices at a great price, they’re for sale without any “restrictive annual service contracts, no upgrade run-around and best of all, no AT&T.” The ad is colorful, energetic … [read full article]
