Network Updates: Multiple new 700MHz sightings in Cleveland and Cincinnati, OH among others

I’ve had a number of emails over the past week with new band 12 LTE sightings. I figured I’d share them with you before I take the weekend off to celebrate the beginning of the second year in to my thirties. It’s no coincidence that these sightings have fallen in line with the new Android 5.1 software update on the Nexus 6, but it comes as … [read full article]

T-Mobile deploying 700MHz LTE “furiously”, aims to reach 190 million POPs by 2016

T-Mobile only closed its first deal for 700MHz low-band spectrum with Verizon 12 months ago. Since then, it’s acquired more band 12 airwaves from a number of small, mostly independent companies and has enough to now cover 190 million people. And it has set itself a tough target for deployment. During yesterday’s Uncarrier event – during the Q&A session at the end – the company’s network chief, Neville … [read full article]

T-Mobile Network Updates: Band 12 700MHz LTE shows up in Tampa and Atlantic City

With MWC taking up a lot of my waking (and supposed to be sleeping) time last week, I didn’t get much chance to keep updated with T-Mobile’s network upgrades. While I was away I had a few exciting LTE network sightings that I have to share with you. Two of which are new Band 12 700MHz sites. Band 12 – Tampa First up is a Tampa sighting of 700MHz LTE, spotted by our reader, Edward on his … [read full article]

T-Mobile finished 3rd or worse in each region according to J.D. Power’s network quality rankings

J.D. Power recently published its latest network quality rankings, and it doesn’t make great reading for T-Mobile or its fans. While it may be leading the way in terms of speed in the major metro areas, when it comes to overall quality, it’s still lagging behind AT&T and Verizon. J.D. Power’s network quality rankings measures which carriers provide service with the fewest lost calls, slow downloads, texts that fail to send or other regular issues. And – … [read full article]

T-Mobile’s LTE coverage map will look like this by the end of 2015

Currently, T-Mobile’s LTE service covers around 265 million people, which is pretty impressive given their position just two years ago. But, by the end of 2015, the company says its target is to reach 300 million. Bringing it closer to the likes of AT&T and Verizon. Over on the HowardForums, a growing thread shows off a number of slides displaying what that coverage growth is going to look like. The maps were originally part of … [read full article]

Ahead of the schedules earnings call, T-Mobile has released its full financial results for 2014, and for the fourth quarter. FINANCIALS In the fourth quarter – as previously announced – T-Mobile added 2.1 million customers to its ranks. With all four quarters’ totals added up, … [read full article]

John Legere: AWS-3 spectrum auction a “disaster for American wireless customers”

It’s been a few weeks now since the government’s AWS-3 spectrum auction ended, and by all accounts, T-Mobile played its cards perfectly. It spent almost $1.8 billion on mid-range spectrum which it can use to bolster its already-strong portfolio of 1700/2100 airwaves. But all-in-all, the whole affair was a big pile of baloney according to T-Mobile’s outspoken CEO. In a [read full article]

T-Mobile Band 12 LTE shows up in Springfield, MA

A read got in touch from Springfield, MA to inform us that T-Mobile’s 700MHz LTE network is – at the very least – being tested in the city. We were sent a screenshot of the Galaxy Note 4’s Service Mode screen which shows all the indicators we’d normally require to confirm that this is, indeed, a T-Mobile band 12 site. Check it out below: As with every sighting we’ve been sent so far, this is a 5+5MHz … [read full article]
