Mike Sievert being promoted to COO in T-Mobile executive re-shuffle

In an email sent out to all T-Mobile employees this morning, John Legere outlined a corporate re-shuffle taking place at the Un-carrier. Undoubtedly, the biggest news is Mike Sievert’s move from CMO (chief marketing officer) to COO (chief operating officer). In the memo to staff – which we’ve been able to look at (thanks to our sources) – Legere states that he has created the position for Sievert. His responsibilities will include guiding all customer facing operations … [read full article]

Legere: “We are not an underdog brand”

T-Mobile has become the most talked about carrier in the U.S. wireless industry. Its bold Uncarrier moves have made it the talk of the town. Its growth and popularity since starting Uncarrier have been incredible. And many will put this boldness and success down to one person: John Legere. More often than not, tech reporters will come away from a T-Mobile press event with comments on the chief’s style and choice of language. And the same is … [read full article]

John Legere finally gets a reaction from Sprint CEO on Twitter

John Legere likes to berate the competition, quite publicly, on Twitter. And during the Superbowl event yesterday evening he took time to aim his jibes at Sprint’s commercials. Something which the CEO himself has said he does to try and get a response. This time he got one. Sort of. Half-assed commercial, half-assed data speeds. #typical @sprint. #SprintLikeHell — John Legere (@JohnLegere) February 2, 2015 In most cases, the controversial CEO doesn’t get … [read full article]

John Legere not impressed by press reaction to DT chief comments

Yesterday, Tim Hoettges, CEO of Deutsche Telekom, made some forward-looking comments in an exclusive interview with Re/code. DT – of course – holds the controlling stake in T-Mobile US. The comment which seemed to spark the biggest reaction was “The question is always the economics in the long term … and earning appropriate money. You have to earn your money back at one point in time.” … [read full article]

John Legere on 2015: The wireless revolution is speeding up to warp speed

I couldn’t help but think of Star Trek when reading John Legere’s forward-looking post for next year. Published a short while ago, T-Mobile’s CEO outlines what he sees happening over the next twelve months in the wireless industry. It’s certainly worth a read and doesn’t stop with just mobile phones and carriers. Of particularly interest to us though is his take on the state of the wireless industry. With T-Mobile having kicked off the trend in … [read full article]

T-Mobile is CNN’s tech company of the year

Earlier today, CNN announced that it has named T-Mobile the U.S. tech company of 2014. Citing T-Mobile’s industry shake-up as the reason for winning the award, CNN acknowledges the superb products launched by other tech giants. But despite Apple announcing the iWatch and Apple Pay, Microsoft’s new lease of life under Satya Nadella and Facebook’s WhatsApp purchase, it was T-Mo who came out on top. Because of T-Mobile’s actions in 2014, wireless carriers have fallen over one … [read full article]
