T-Mobile G2 Gets Graced With Gingerbread, Unofficially

Well T-Mobile G2 owners can thank the folks at 911 Sniper and XDA who have managed to uncover and upload for your pleasure Gingerbread for the G2. Of course you’ll have to be rooted in order to get Gingerbread goodness working on your device but hey, what’s a little root for a whole lot of Gingerbread? Of course you can always wait for T-Mobile to deliver, after all it’s “coming soon.” XDA via [read full article]

T-Mobile To Only Sell Motorola Defy “Black” From Now On

Prepare yourself for some earth shattering news as T-Mobile will only sell the Motorola Defy in “Black” from now on. The above image indicates Motorola Defy sales will be of the all “Black” variant as opposed to the “Black Linen” which has the ivory tone backside. As of this writing both models are still available on T-Mobile.com so I’ll assume that will be the case until the remaining inventory of the Black Linen are gone. In … [read full article]

Andy Rubin Hints Toward Another Nexus Phone Arrival

During todays Google I/O conference Android head Andy Rubin sat down with the press and took a question about the future of Google’s Nexus brand series of devices. The question referred to Google’s efforts to work with carriers and OEM’s to push updates to Android devices faster and more efficiently and what this meant for the Nexus series? “I think the Nexus has been the thing we use to set the bar,” Rubin said. “There … [read full article]

T-Mobile Partners With Google, Android Updates For 18 Months

T-Mobile has partnered with Google in order to work toward a world where Android devices will receive platform updates for 18 months after a device launches. The only “catch” is that the hardware has to allow the update. I hope this doesn’t mean a phone can receive a 12 months update since it falls within that 18 month windows. This sounds great, but we’ll have to see a breakdown of the rules before we can say … [read full article]

T-Mobile And HTC Tease G2 Gingerbread

There has been plenty of talk about the T-Mobile G2 receiving Gingerbread, most of it unofficial. Early April saw a report courtesy of ComputerWorld that the G2 would definitely receive Gingerbread sometime over the “Summer.” Well we just received a ninja shot of a flyer being sent out to T-Mobile employees indicating that the G2 is absolutely positively receiving Gingerbread and this will certainly put to rest any argument saying otherwise. We’re trying to find … [read full article]

Samsung “Exhibit 4G” Hitting T-Mobile Soon?

What’s this I see before us? The Samsung T759 running Android 2.3.3 on T-Mobile? I believe this phone will hit T-Mobile shelves as the Samsung “Exhibit.” We don’t know much about the phone but our ninja said he expected the Exhibit to sport a 3.7″, 480 x 800 AMOLED display and is running Gingerbread 2.3.3 as the image shows. Rumored but unconfirmed specs include a 1.4GHz ARM11 processor, 5 megapixel camera with 720p recording and a VGA … [read full article]

T-Mobile Releases “Black” Motorola Defy

Coming in under our radar was the launch of the Motorola Defy in Black, not to be confused with the current Defy model which has a White shell. This black model has a completely blacked out body (did I mention it’s black) hence the Black moniker. Right now the Motorola Defy in Black is on sale via a web-only special on T-Mobile.com for just $49.99. The price is good through September 1st but this is a … [read full article]

Early Look At T-Mobile G2x Running Gingerbread

I must admit to a little jealousy of Chris Ziegler of Thisismynext.com (formerly of Engadgetmobile) as he scored himself a preview of Gingerbread for the T-Mobile G2x. While T-Mobile promised it wouldn’t be a long wait for early G2x adopters, with no solid date given we’re going to eat up any previews of what to expect on the G2x when in fact the update does arrive. You can check out the video above or read … [read full article]

From Yesterday: Google Starting To Send Out Android 2.3.4 To Nexus S Devices, Brings Video Chat

Not to be forgotten in our news cycle is the release of Android 2.3.4 which will start shipping to Nexus S devices in the coming weeks. By hooking up through your Gmail and Google Talk friends list, Android 2.3.4 is launching video chat whether they are on a compatible Android tablet or phone or over the computer. Video chat will (thankfully) take place over 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi connections. In your Google Talk friends list, look … [read full article]
