Sprint announces Q1 2015 earnings – It’s still ahead of T-Mobile, but only just

During the earnings call for the final quarter of 2014, John Legere announced that – unofficially – T-Mobile was already ahead of Sprint in total subscriptions. But the official numbers didn’t agree. After T-Mo’s blockbuster quarter, many had assumed that those official numbers would catch up. With the Verizon and AT&T posting disappointing subscriber add numbers, the industry was all but certain that Sprint wouldn’t do … [read full article]

T-Mobile targets Verizon customers with “Never Settle Trial” – Offers 14 days of free use

Verizon’s made a big push and spent a ton of cash on its Never Settle marketing campaign. T-Mobile, in the early hours of this morning, has responded with its very own campaign inviting Verizon customers to switch. As it turns out, T-Mo agrees that you shouldn’t settle… for Verizon. The Never Settle Trial offers the chance for Verizon customers to try the T-Mobile network out for themselves and – if they don’t like it – they can … [read full article]

BlackBerry Leap unboxing and first impressions

BlackBerry and T-Mobile’s relationship might be temporarily on hold, but that doesn’t mean you can’t grab one of the company’s devices to use on your favorite carrier’s network. The most recent of those is the all-touch BlackBerry Leap; the company’s latest attempt at cracking the budget end of the market. It’s an interesting concept and is – sort of – the latest descendent of the BlackBerry Z10 which didn’t do so well a couple of years ago. … [read full article]

It looks incredibly likely that the budget Windows Phone from Microsoft is going to be making an appearance on T-Mobile store shelves very soon. The Lumia 435 is the latest low-end device that promises to be great value for money. T-Mobile’s support pages now list the device, and Microsoft has its own page dedicated to the T-Mo flavored version of the small smartphone. Thanks to the ever-perceptive eyes of 50Atomic for … [read full article]

Instead, you should be able to log in to your account and manage it as … [read full article]

My T-Mobile service is out of action

Chances are, if you’ve tried to access your My T-Mobile account online over the past 24 hours, you’ve failed. Account management site shows a “we’ll be back” message complete with picture of what – presumably – is the tech engineers’ team taking a canoe out for a stroll. We’ve been sent a number of emails by readers upset at not being able to access their accounts over the past few hours, so it’s unclear exactly how long … [read full article]

The device’s support page notes that the update started its rollout two days ago beginning April 28th and should be available over-the-air and via manual pulldown. At least one T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge user has Android 5.1.1 update

According to one XDA-Developers forum member, T-Mobile has started its rollout of Android 5.1.1 for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. And by “rollout” we mean, one person has it so far, as far as we know. This strikes us as strange for a couple of reasons, primarily because T-Mobile devices generally don’t get software updates that quickly. Especially not skinned Samsung devices. (Galaxy Note 4, anyone?) Exactly how, then, this customer managed to get his … [read full article]

User complaints of T-Mobile LTE speed “throttling” get John Legere’s attention

A couple of days back, a thread on Reddit started with a user complaining that they had experienced what they believed was throttling. As you’d expect, with a topic like that, the thread soon exploded and now has over 300 comments from people who are customers, fans and even employees of T-Mobile. Some are insinuating that customers are subject to throttling once they start reaching high levels of data usage. It must be noted that … [read full article]

T-Mobile Q1 2015 earnings call reaction: It’s going to get even better

With the earnings call well and truly behind us I’ve had some time to think and ponder on some of the talking points. It’s easy when looking at numbers and figures to get bogged down by statistics and financials. I find it takes time, and a purposeful step back sometimes to get the big picture. And perhaps see what’s next. Thanks to a review I’m working on for PhoneDog and LG’s launch event, I was kept busy … [read full article]
