Android 5.0 update for T-Mobile Galaxy Note Edge now available

Screen Shot 2015-05-04 at 14.49.44
T-Mobile Galaxy Note Edge users, your Android 5.0 Lollipop update has arrived. The carrier started the software update rollout this morning and – so far – a handful of customers have already emailed and tweeted us to let us know that they have the new firmware installed. If you’re yet to update, however, you should not that it’s not a small update by any means. After all, this is Samsung we’re talking about here. In all, the update measures in at over 1.1GB.

Note Edge TMobile android 5 update

The update is available over Wi-Fi or through Samsung’s Kies PC software and should be widely available to Galaxy Note Edge users on T-Mobile. You’ll need to ensure you have 50% or higher battery life to update over Wi-Fi, and ensure you have at least 3GB internal storage free. Specifically, this is software version N915TUVU1COD7 and is available ot users with either N915TUVU1ANK3 or N915TUVU1ANJL.

As always, let us know if you get it installed and how you’re liking the software. Also, get in touch if you have any issues with the new software or its installation.

Thanks for the tip, Tamim.

Cam, how is the Tmonews forum site coming along?

    Just curious….

    • Cam Bunton

It’s still in development. From what I’ve heard, it’ll be back “soon”.

  • Tommy

No problem Cam! I am playing with it now. There is a quite a bit of changes on it. So far I am really digging it! Been waiting forever for this

    • Cam Bunton

“Forever” is a slight exaggeration, but I get the feeling. ;-) I felt exactly the same until my Note 4 update arrived. I hate it a lot less now..

  • sushimane

Hate to say this where is the xperia z3 update?

  • auser72

Hot Damn, I bought car stereo last month with Android Auto, now I get to use it. Today is a Good Day ……. :-)

    • How is Android Auto? Have you had a chance to use it yet?

    • nycplayboy78

      How is Android Auto?

  • benben

    What about the gs4 ?
Is there a tactic not to update so ppl would buy the gs6?

    • 1ceTr0n

      Is that a retorical question?

      • dontsh00tmesanta

    • ssjchaseutley

      That’s my guess too.

    • 1ceTr0n

Uh….. yes. Thats the general smartphone/cell phone business marketing strategy the last 15 years. Where have you been?

  • Marcus Rose

I installed it this morning OTA. First off I have never felt my phone get so hot! Holy Crap! It was almost to the point you couldnt pick it up!

So far its ok…no noticeable difference except that annoying text message on the splash screen. Other than that, have not noticed anything different. I’ll keep you posted, but it was kinda anti-climatic!

    • Tommy

That didn’t happen to me at alll. That’s weird! Did you have on the charger while doing it?

      • Marcus Rose

Nope! It was sitting on my desk….and my AP was like 10 feet away. It was connected AC so it only took like 17 minutes to download the whole thing.

But even my co-worker said WTH with your phone…why is it so hot?

        • mikejones1876

It’s supposed to get hot like that I’m sure every phone that I owned got hot like your talkin about…that might be the only time that 805 was running all cores I own the note 4 by the it was steaming hot

        • Jose

Yes, same with my Note 4 when I updated. Very Caliente and not in a good way but then it cooled after the update finished installing.

  • blackwatch83

Anyone whos done the update notice that the baseband verision is N915TUVU1BOD7 and not N915TUVU1COD7? The screen shot announcement said 5.0.2 but I got 5.0.1 with a the baseband with a B rather than C

    • Alex

I noticed this too. Wondering if we will ACTUALLY be getting 5.0.2? Or if they just pulled the wool over our eyes.

  • ssjchaseutley

Still no Lollipop for Galaxy S4 I see.

    • gmo8492

The Galaxy S3 didn’t even get the kitkat update, so I don’t expect that the S4 will get the lollipop update. Tmobile has really fallen short on this especially since these were their best selling smartphones of all time.

      • Joe

Yeah we should all complain to John about this BS.

      • ssjchaseutley

Verizon and AT&T users got theirs. A buddy of mine showed me the update on his SG4 and it has fixed all of the problems that I vurrently have with mine. I dont understa d why TMO isnt addressing this (more time for me to consider purchasing a new phone, who knows).

  • nycplayboy78

YIPPIE!!!! Go to XDA Developers they already have root access for Lollipop for our device the Galaxy Note Edge….YAY!!! Hopefully ROMs are on the way!!!! I already have mine rooted :)

  • Uble

HEY CAM – as usual no mention or post of lack of Galaxy S4 update, which EVERY OTHER carrier and variant has received in the US and worldwide.

    • atown7475

      Jump or shut up

  • lui

I have galaxy note 4 and already apdated my os to lollipop 5.0.1

  • Tamara2589

  • Marcus Rose

Is there a reason why People who have either the Note 4 or Galaxy S4 are posting here?

This thread is for folks who have the Note Edge and talking about Lollipop. Can you please go complain somewhere else? WE GET IT!!! YOU HAVE AN S4 AND YOU FEEL SLIGHTED AND OVERLOOKED!!!!!

    • George

Because…… Cam Bunton never write an article about S4-not getting updated to Lollipop when every other version got it. S3 and Note2 were not updated to Kitkat when every other version got updated. T-mobile does not give any valid answers. John Legre does not respond to tweets. EVERYBODY GETS IT EXCEPT T-MOBILE.

  • Sean Leong

Is it me or did 5.0 slow down the Note Edge dramatically?? Bluetooth keeps cutting out, I think I’m going to have to restore my phone….damn it

  • Scott Miller

Mine keeps giving error that the keyboard has stopped everytime I push and hold on a key for special characters. Cleared cache/data from Samsung keyboard and also have done master reset but still does it.
