Reports are coming in of a possible T-Mobile outage. One of our connects filled us in with the details and it looks like subscribers in the Southeastern region are mostly affected. If you can recall, the last time T-Mobile had one of these outages, both Data/Calling features were down. Most of the reports we have received include a mix of both data and calling features being affected. Could this possibly have something to do with the HSPA 7.2Mbps upgrade that T-Mobile will be rolling out before the end of this year?!? I sure hope so!

UPDATE 1: T-Mobile is aware of the situation and has their “Rapid Response Teams” working on the problem. They have identified the problem as an “Equipment Malfunction”…HSPA 7.2Mbps anyone? Service has been restored to the majority of subscribers, with the exception of some customers in Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia which may still be experiencing service disruptions.

Official statement from T-Mobile below:

Some T-Mobile customers in the Southeastern United States and Puerto Rico experienced intermittent service degradation for voice and data services earlier today. T-Mobile has identified the equipment malfunction and service has been restored for the majority of customers. Some customers in Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia may still be experiencing service disruptions while T-Mobile continues to work to restore service as quickly as possible. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience to impacted customers in the region.

I’m in KY too Alan and I have no t-mobile service either…I was able to get online for a while but now that is gone too!!! Hope it’s fixed soon!

This is absolutely ridiculous. I can’t even believe this is happening in 2009! I mean, seriously? Do monkeys run this company? They’re right about the whole Southeast being down. And this time, it isn’t just Blackberrys that are having problems. It’s every single person with a T-Mobile phone. People can’t even call each other! What the heck!!! I am definitely leaving T-Mobile. This company can’t compete with Verizon or AT&T. I really expect a bankruptcy soon. They deserve it for charging us so much and then providing the crappiest service and all these outages. Ridiculous!

The system is not perfect and not carrier is perfect at&t and verizon both have had recent issues. Don’t get all butt hurt because you can’t use your phone for an hour. Get over yourself go have fun on at&t who has the worste network out of any carrier.

I think its hilarious how people are so dependent on technology. Dont get me wrong, when service goes down it is frustrating, but its bound to happen. Hey, have you ever heard of a pay phone?

Can’t make calls or send texts, though the 3G service is working flawlessly. Is that how it works? In order for us to have 3G the phone has to not work?

I’m in Daytona Beach, Florida. I’ve been able to send/receive texts and use data all day. Phone calls work just fine too.

If you mean Louisiana, it is not even near perfect coverage for me. Calls and texts are both messing up down here.

Also in Nashville, TN. Voice and data networks down. I don’t know about 3g since my iphone won’t work on the 3g network. Annoying bummer for people who use their phones constantly…and if it is an update to the data networks I so don’t care. My iphone won’t work with that either.

I had problems with email for about 3 hours this morning. BIS i think was the problem. Yesterday we got lit up 3G and today were back to edge all day. Now I just checked my phone and it’s fluctuating between edge and 3G. Last time this happened, was right before the town 7 miles north of me lit up with 3G back in September. I live in central Illinois and have not been without data or voice all day, just the crazy signal.

In Nashville–been a tmobile customer all of one week now. Called the store, since i couldn’t get through to customer service. Store guy said it’s all over the southeast… it’s been down for about an hour. His words “we are normally down for only an hour or two…” my response, “so this happens often?”

Data is fine….txt and voice is dead. (Huntsville, AL)….looks like T-Mo News is having trouble handling the bandwidth as well…uh ohhhhhhh
