Man, the Dell Venue Pro just can’t catch a break. Now there are reported issues reading the SIM card. This comes on the heels of Dell announcing last Friday that production was being “ramped up” and that the launch would come with greater fanfare. Assuming of course that the Wi-Fi issues are fixed, news of the SIM card trouble just looks bad for Dell who has yet to really make a name for itself … [read full article]

We last saw a glimpse of the Android-powered Nexus S at the Web 2.0 Summit in the hands of the one and only, Google CEO Eric Schmidt. The latest images come from EXIF data from a Google employee’s Picasa photostream tagged as the GT-i9020 (aka Nexus S). The images reveal the Nexus S screen to be curved in an unusual way. This thing is out in the wild so it would be safe to say that … [read full article]
Update: Since there seems to be quite a bit of confusion regarding the T-Mobile statement below, I’ve asked for and received clarification which does indeed state BOTH lines must be eligible to upgrade. The statement follows: The promotion is available on all T-Mobile family plans, including legacy and Even More, for new customers who activate two or more lines. Existing T-Mobile customers can take advantage of the BOGO but they will need to add two lines … [read full article]
If Sprint was hoping to steer the conversation back in their direction with this, the latest entrance in the “4G” argument, they should have tried harder. This video, which offers up a mini-tutorial on how Sprint 4G works as well as some digs at the competition, effectively does neither very well. All I learned from this video is that Sprint apparently has a larger pipe than everyone else. Claiming that “other carriers might claim to have … [read full article]
Walmart is certainly stepping up their pre-Black Friday offerings in the wireless game with a $100 Walmart gift card now through November 25th. The best part is that it qualifies for BOTH new customers as well as qualifying upgrades! So what phones qualify you ask? Adding a new line to a family plan will qualify and, of course, works online and in store. If you’ve been looking to grab another phone in the next week, this is … [read full article]
It looks like the T-Mobile partnership with Target is finally paying off, at least if you are looking to grab a new line and a T-Mobile G2 for the low price of $49. Running through November 24th, you can grab a T-Mobile G2 for the aforementioned price of $49.99 with a new 2-year agreement and a $30 data plan. Not a bad deal if you’ve been eyeing one of these and are looking to start … [read full article]
Wherefore art thou Dell Venue Pro? Well, according to the folks at Dell who released a statement around 5:30 this afternoon, they are “currently ramping up production”. They say it’s because they want to introduce the Dell Venue Pro on a “bigger scale.” Earlier intel had suggested a November 15th launch, a week after the phone formally launched in Microsoft stores. We have to wonder though. Were the recently reported Wi-Fi problems the … [read full article]
T-Mobile has been saying that its 4G HSPA+ network will boost speeds across the board regardless of whether or not the phone is capable of the full speed. So Wireless testing firm Root Metrics decided to put that to the test and found that the speed boost indeed was noticeable across the board no matter which device. In a sample of six markets, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Oakland and Orange County, California T-Mobile was around … [read full article]

Well, what do we have here? It’s another entry into the “4G” war by big red Verizon herself. The above image, via Twitter, shows that Verizon is ready to tackle the 4G issue and formally enter the 4G war. This time the ad hits AT&T where Verizon has enjoyed hitting them in the past, their 3G network. Anyone remember the “There is a map for that” ad campaign? While T-Mobile has enjoyed the last [read full article]
As some of you may know, I, along with David and Kickstar, picked up our very own Windows Phone 7 devices last week. We became, essentially, the early adopters of this platform, just like many of you were early adopters of Android with the G1. With little else to go on than a few short and opinionated reviews, we jumped on, hoping for something new and exciting. Personally, I picked up the HD7, and these are my … [read full article]
