Coverage Will Become A Central Point In The T-Mobile Roadmap, Considering “Non-Strategic” Asset Sale

As T-Mobile works to boost its financial position in the US, they are considering a number of options that include the sale of non-strategic assets such as cell towers to raise cash for future investments. Forming partnerships and spectrum-sharing opportunities are on the table, however no large cash acquisitions are in the works.  That seems like an obvious non-denial denial to the almost constant whisper that T-Mobile and Sprint are looking to form a relationship.  … [read full article]

T-Mobile Unlikely To Sell iPhone In Near Future, Will Combat With Android

Speaking at an investor relations meeting, T-Mobile stated that they were unlikely to carry the iPhone anytime in the near future.  Perhaps the biggest issue is the use of the 1700Mhz 3G band acting as a major barrier to selling the iPhone.  T-Mobile is, of course, open to selling the iPhone, however the T-Mobile CEO explained that the chipset is the major roadblock. “We’re not part of the chipset today.  But we have chipsets which support 5 … [read full article]

Sidekick Settlement Over 2009 Outage Brings Goodies

October 2009 was a time for Sidekick owners that likely still haunts their dreams and makes them shudder at the thought.  Well, maybe not that serious, but the data outage that occurred during that time caused Sidekick owners quite a lot of grief and downtime, not to mention lost data.  Finally, a settlement has been reached between Danger, Microsoft and T-Mobile regarding the “data service interruption”. Those who were part of the class action lawsuit … [read full article]

T-Mobile To Focus On HSPA+ Till 2013, Then LTE?

Let me preface this post with a quick beginning as there is reason to consider that T-Mobile rolling out an LTE network may or may not happen.  This isn’t set in stone and is likely to change.  There is nothing concrete being said or proof that it is 100% going to happen, especially when considering something that is more than two years away. However, at this meeting, it was stated that there was an expressed interest in a potential … [read full article]

T-Mobile Has Their Eye On Third Place, Can They Do It?

Seems like today was a mini-goldmine of sorts as the employee event that took place today had quite a bit of focus on T-Mobile and the future.  One of the bigger messages we are told was the emphasis on catching and surpassing Sprint.  Of course, this is quite a lofty goal and,  by all accounts, no small feat.  Sprint is millions of customers ahead of T-Mobile, working on their own 4G network and is busy charging customers … [read full article]

The Sidekick 4G Rumors Heat Back Up, Coming “Spring”

I’ll be the first to admit swearing off the “Sidekick Twist” rumors we originated way back last year when we thought it was the fabled Project Emerald. I’ve admittedly turned away from this project when, boom, it falls right back into my lap today.  We’re putting this firmly in the “so many ninjas saying it’s happening category, that we firmly believe it category”.  It’s come in from enough sources who attended a town hall meeting … [read full article]

Oh the good old rumor mill is churning yet again with tomorrows event featuring T-Mobile USA CEO Philip Humm and Deutsche Telekom CEO Rene Obermann. LG G-Slate Specs Outed By Accident?

While the upcoming LG G-Slate may be one of the more anticipated T-Mobile devices in recent memory, it’s features, specs and pretty much everything else have remained a mystery. According to the website GPSandCo who contacted LG France for information regarding the upcoming tablet, they were (accidentally?) given some information regarding the upcoming tablet. 8.9″ display size allowing 3D content without glasses 3D recording capability LG Tegra 2 dual-core CPU USB port and HDMI connector I  know … [read full article]

T-Mobile Introduces Drive Smart Android App, Block Texting While Driving

T-Mobile is partnering with Location Labs and introducing DriveSmart Plus, an Android app which will help stop texting while driving. With texting while driving becoming more and more of a hotbed issue, this is a welcome move to try and curb this dangerous practice. Of course, the final responsibility to fall on the user to practice good judgement and take advantage of these apps. Enabling users to set their Android devices to automatically detect when a “handset … [read full article]
