PSA: No, The Nexus 4 Does Not Have Wi-Fi Calling

I hate to be the bearer of bad news a second time-around considering I’ve already posted this very same message once before. However, thanks thanks to a generic T-Mobile support page, there’s a new rumor quickly making its way around that the Nexus 4 does in fact have Wi-Fi calling if purchased through T-Mobile. Except, it doesn’t and it’s worrisome that this story is spreading as fast … [read full article]

LG Nexus 4 Demo Units Begin Arriving In T-Mobile Stores

With just a few days left before the Nexus 4 officially launches to the world, at least a few T-Mobile stores are beginning to receive some demo units. Before you rush out now to your local store, we know that the Nexus 4 will only be available in select T-Mobile stores thanks to the launch announcement, so we’d suggest phoning ahead. Our best guess is that high traffic and high volume … [read full article]

Spanish Retailer Suspends Plans To Sell Nexus Due To Pricing, Is Google Subsidizing Play Store Purchases?

I’ll be the first to admit that my first reaction to T-Mobile’s Value Plan pricing on the Nexus 4 was one of aggravation and frustration. As I saw it, T-Mobile appeared to be bumping the off-contract price against Google’s own pricing making any Value Plan deal with T-Mobile not much of a deal at all. As it turns out, perhaps the fault doesn’t … [read full article]

Nexus 4 Battery Life Tested, Early Results Show Less Than Impressive Results

Google went on the record with The Verge last week and mentioned two reasons why LTE was left out of the Nexus 4: the first reason was building a carrier independent device couldn’t be achieved with LTE and the second reason power draw. There’s little argument that LTE does in fact use more power than HSPA+ or 3G, however LG did include LTE in the Optimus G design, which is the … [read full article]

PSA: Sorry Everyone, No Wi-Fi Calling On The Nexus 4

In the hopes of clarifying a bit of confusion and concern I see in the comments, I’ve reached out to T-Mobile to confirm that there will be no Wi-Fi calling on the Nexus 4. Now, odds are greatly in favor of this not being a T-Mobile decision anyway as a Nexus device generally doesn’t receive any carrier input. Therefore, T-Mobile likely had zero input in the manufacturing of the device and couldn’t … [read full article]

Google Updates Nexus 4 Play Store Page To Include HSPA+ 42Mbps Connectivity

In a quick update and brief update, Google has updated their Play Store page for the Nexus 4 to indicate the availability of HSPA+ 42Mbps connectivity, just as we expected. Having confirmed T-Mobile’s Nexus 4 would also be sold with HSPA+ 42Mbps, it seemed like a sure thing that the Play Store model would as well. Now, we can put aside any concerns that one model of the Nexus 4 would … [read full article]

Update: T-Mobile Confirms Nexus 4 HSPA+ 42Mbps Connectivity

Update: According to Google’s press release, the Play Store Nexus 4 does in fact have HSPA+ 42Mbps connectivity as well, it’s the Play Store specs that are incorrect.  In an effort to clear up some confusion, I’ve re-confirmed with T-Mobile that the Nexus 4 sold by T-Mobile will have HSPA+ 42Mbps connectivity on board. That’s different from the Google Play store which indicates the Nexus 4 will have HSPA+ 21Mbps. … [read full article]
