AT&T Files Formal Response To Justice Department Lawsuit

Someone needs to tell me what is in the water over at AT&T headquarters that they believe a T-Mobile isn’t competitive. While T-Mobile is certainly the smallest of the big 4 carriers, calling MetroPCS and Cricket a larger threat than a company multiple times the size of both Metro and Cricket combined is in my eyes, irrational. AT&T filed a formal response to the Department of Justice lawsuit on Friday arguing that competition in the market … [read full article]

T-Mobile’s September “All Hands Day” Another Day Of Steep Discounts, New Mobile Broadband Product?

While a number of sites have seriously mistaken our story as “evidence” that I am suggesting the iPhone 5 is the cause for this meeting, that isn’t actually the case. For the record, that “suggestion” came in the same sentence as saying T-Mobile found water on mars so I would have hoped that it would have been taken with a little more ambiguity. As it turns out, the sale is pretty much in line with … [read full article]

Samsung Product Page Now Live For T-Mobile Galaxy S II

While we await details and more “in the wild” shots of the Samsung Galaxy S II, the T-Mobile GSII product page has gone live on Samsung’s website. Unfortunately we aren’t going to learn anything we don’t know already know and things we are desperate to learn about: such as the processor, processor and processor aren’t anywhere to be found. Otherwise there is a precent decent rundown of features and specs but for most of you already … [read full article]

AT&T May Earn Discount On T-Mobile If Concessions Surpass Certain Value

An article published early (early!) this morning on Bloomberg opens up the possibility that AT&T can “lower the price it pays for T-Mobile USA Inc. if the remedies requested by regulators become too expensive according to three people with direct knowledge of the purchase contract.” In other words, if the regulator’s request are too expensive for AT&T, the company can get a reduced rate on their T-Mobile purchase price. A discount would be available to AT&T if … [read full article]

T-Mobile Calls For “All Hands Day” For September 24th

Details are sketchy at best but we’ve just received a huge number of emails indicating that T-Mobile has called an “All Hands Day” meeting for September 24th for unknown reasons. Could this be a pre-iPhone launch meeting? Could this be related to the AT&T takeover or could this be related to T-Mobile discovering water on Mars? In any case, mark your calendars down for September 24th because something is going down.

AT&T Responds To Sprint Lawsuit

As expected AT&T has fired back with some less than flattering words toward Sprint on the news of Sprint attempting to legally block their T-Mobile takeover. An AT&T spokesman said  “This simply demonstrates what we’ve said all along – Sprint is more interested in protecting itself than it is in promoting competition that benefits consumers. We of course will vigorously contest this matter in court as AT&T’s merger with T-Mobile USA will: help solve our nation’s … [read full article]

In a move that continues to indicate Sprint’s desire to see the end of the AT&T/T-Mobile takeover transaction they have filed suit against AT&T, Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile USA to block the acquisition. Claiming the deal violates Section 7 of the Clayton Act the lawsuit was filed in the District of Columbia as a related case to the Department of Justice’s own lawsuit against the proposed deal. “Sprint opposes AT&T’s proposed takeover of T-Mobile,” said … [read full article]

Deutsche Telekom Says Break-Up Fee Not In Danger If AT&T Deal Fails

Since the announcement of the AT&T/T-Mobile deal the press and mobile industry at large has been under the impression that should the deal fall through, AT&T was on the line for up to $6 billion in cash and spectrum. A Reuters report from yesterday indicated that the break-up fee as it has been dubbed isn’t as certain as the deal itself just being nullified, closed, killed or destroyed by the government. Reuters sources indicated … [read full article]
