LG Stylo 4 launches at MetroPCS with 6.2-inch screen and built-in stylus

lgstylo4

MetroPCS has offered previous models of LG’s stylus-equipped Stylo phones in the past, and now the brand new model has launched at T-Mobile’s prepaid brand as well.

The LG Stylo 4 is now available from MetroPCS. The device’s original price is set at $239, but Metro is knocking that down to $179 with an instant discount.

When it comes to features, one of the highlights of the LG Stylo 4 is its built-in stylus. LG has even added some special software features that make use of that stylus, like Screen off Memo for taking notes without having to turn your screen on and GIF Capture, when you can use to take snippets of video, edit them, and turn them into GIFs that you can share.

LG has also equipped the Stylo 4 with a large 6.2-inch 2160×1080 screen for you to write on with that stylus. Inside the phone there’s an octa-core Snapdragon 450 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage (20.94GB usable), and a microSD card slot. There’s a 3300mAh battery powering the whole package, too.

Around on the back of the LG Stylo 4 is a 13MP camera with phase detection autofocus and a fingerprint reader below it, and on the front is a 5MP camera with wide angle lens. Rounding things out is Android 8.1 with a custom LG user interface, DTS:X Surround Sound tech, NFC, and a QLens feature that’ll let you use the camera to get information on where to buy products online, perform an image search for matching photos of what you’re pointing your camera at, or scan a QR code.

The LG Stylo 4 includes support for LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 66, and 71.

Thanks, Darryl!

IF Sprint is going to be part of the family, then devices will need bands 25, 26, 41 as well.

    • Romdude

They might refarm those bands, hopefully to bands that are already supported by existing Sprint phones.

    • riverhorse

Besides Romdude’s take, it will be a LONG time for the actual physical merge(we’ll have upgraded phones a coupla times by then)…and regulatory approval not a slam dunk, nor having to not give up some band(s)…

When will this device be released on TMO?

    • Jane Seymour

      Exactly!

    • Grandy Cuban

This is what really bothers me. Why can’t both carriers (TMO and Metro) launch the phones at the same time? Is there some rule against that? Is there a strategy? Will TMO come out with a model slightly better/worse/cheaper?

      • Juan Caba

        The release date June 29th.

        • Grandy Cuban

Thanks Juan. How did you find this out?

I’ve been in contact with our local TMO stores, including one where the LG rep was actually in the store. Nobody seem to have a clue when it was coming to TMO.

          Nice thanks

        • Bklynman

Nothing on Tmo site about it.

        • Juan Caba

My local TMO shop has the accessories for the Stylo 4 but no device to display ..

        • Bklynman

Mmmmm, hopefully Tmo will get Stylo 4 plus if not,the one with 3/32,instead of the one with 2/32.

        • Corey Jalette

          They were wrong

    • Tracy

      Hopefully soon

  • wisguy

Mmmm doesn’t sound too bad for a budget phone!

  • KMB877

On the LG website, the device (made for MetroPCS) is listed with the following LTE bands: B2/B4/B5/B12/B66/B71; LTE Roaming Bands 1/3/7/13/20/38/41

  • riverhorse

Wasn’t gonna get this purely because of 32gb storage, but just cracked Stylo 2+. (The Metro store was recommending not needing screen protector, only a phone case).
The updated stylus software is a nice plus.

    • riverhorse

Oops, thought this had 3gb ram.
Never mind. Even with foregoing some apps, it’s gonna be the same slow multitask experience.
Whoever can put out an NFC, 6+” model with 1080p or higher, 3 or higher gb ram, 64 or more storage, and all the latest Tmo bands and network features…for under $300… will get a boatload of sales.

      • Juan Caba

The Cricket version has 3GB RAM. It might be a Plus model.

        • riverhorse

Thanks. Will take a peek .
FYI screen is a smidgen thinner than the smaller Stylo 3…almost nothing, but technically so.

        • riverhorse

          Info:
Not yet out (soon), $229($50 more than Metro), a smidgen thinner, lost the removable battery (this is HUGE for multitasking: Hotspot or wifi or STREAMING or casting or BT on + GPS + NFC + Sync or PlayStore in background requires frequent charging & = overheating to the point the phone slows down calls /texts /email /etc .), no IR(yes, only flagships get this), same 32gb storage, 1 more GB ram,
And no conclusive info re which LTE bands yet…

  • Bklynman

It figures,Tmo stops the ball again, smh,LG is bringin out a Style plus,4/64,which one does Tmo goes for? The lesser one of course.Don’t understand this.

    • riverhorse

This applies to this continent, ALL carriers.
Asian phone makers reserve their higher-spec models for their continent. Nothing new.

  • AMC4x4

Wonder if this would be a good budget replacement for my Note5, which I still love, but which won’t be updated anymore and which has kinda always had a half-day battery.

I’ve had three LG phones, all of them ended up with bootloop issues, and the two people I know who bought the 5X had them lock up and have to be replaced as well. Have they gotten better?

    • Bklynman

All depends, all the reviews I have read about Stylo 3 plus, have been good,I was in the same boat with you but with the Note3, just got S8 from Swappa for really good deal, haven’t chance a to set it up as of yet. I was hoping Tmo was going to get the Stylo 4 plus, look like they are not.

      • Kaulana1989

They will be on on the 29

        • Bklynman

Tmo is going to get Stlylo 4 plus? Where did you read that?

        • Corey Jalette

Looks like your info is wrong.

        • Bklynman

Yes not nothing about it tmo site or on here.

  • Bklynman

Well Tmobile eol the 2 motos phones they were selling and one HTC phone they were selling,I guess the only 2 company’s that makes phones are Samsung and Lg.(This
is on tmo site not in there stores).

  • AMC4x4

Had Cricket for a while. It was awful. Never again.
