Cricket Ramps Up The T-Mobile Attack Marketing

If you thought Cricket WIreless’ previous ad was a doozy you best be checking out this commercial currently running in their service area. I won’t even waste time on words, just watch and comment below. Can someone tell me where this company even has service?

Not even worth commenting on. Such a douchebag company. Meh.

• TBolt

They do here in Saint Louis, MO

• They have service in the Portland Metro area of Oregon. I know quite a few people with Cricket that like it :)

• Respawn

2 people doesn’t count as quite a few. :p

• Hey cricket call me back when you have phone worth using for more than 5 minutes

• Wow really, so I can tried in my MT4G for a Inferior Ascend for free!!! sign me up! Plus I will get slower cdma 3g, drop calls galore, and roaming charges if not I’m not in a cricket city, Wow!!!!!

• Matt

LOL. NO COMMENTS….

• David

Wow…cricket was my first cell phone company when I rocked a kyocera candid lol. I’m with tmobile now and have been for years and I really doubt they’ll let me be “stranded” I mean two companies combining coverage areas, that sounds awesome. I don’t see the merger being anything but awesome for consumers.

• cirrob

I fail to see what’s wrong with their message. Everything they have said minus the message to switch to their specific network is everything current T-Mobile customers have been saying since the news of the att deal was announced

• The commercial is very miss leading, No T-mo customers are going to be left stranded. I hate the merger with a passion. But AT&T is better then cricket and that’s sad. lol

• Yancy

They have service? :D

• jblaze2385

I don’t think they have service just a bunch of nerds in there mom’s basment routing calls from wifi

I understand that a manager at a Cricket store had himself punched through a wall after trying to cheat someone I know quite well. He was out before he hit the wall…then the floor.

• Anonymous

Cricket is the huge regional carrier in my area. The others mentioned in the Congress hearings (metro pcs, us celluar, leap etc) have no presence in my area.

• Nick G

They have service all throughout the Midwest, and they’re expanding towards the east and west. I had them as my first cell phone provider, and they were…yeah. Not the best by any means.

• Mar

if i did drugs lol .. i’d do virgin mobile first with that new Motorola phone there getting

• ha ha ha ha

• Yoshi211

San Antonio and las vegas for sure….

• Anonymous

they work in larger citys. thats it. great if you never leave home. I have tmobile because i actually leave my city and go places. THAT is the big difference. that and my phone is ten times more awesome

• LOL.  They really advertised the low budget entry level phone.  That’s the real fail.  Other than that, looks like a good marketing plan to try to scoop up the non savvy users who have a dumb phone and don’t know what’s going on.  It probably is worth it.  Sounds like Cricket is like Ntelos, Frawg, Cox, etc that we have here in the mid atlantic.  Regional carrier with crazy good prices and that is all.  On the other hand, still looking forward to the merge.  4G LTE sounds a whole lot better than the edge that I get at home.

Cricket? Lmao must be an effing joke

• TAREIK_HORNE

i know cause nobody in the usa have cricket

• WAIT!!!! Did they really just offer an Huawei Ascend??? BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA. Stick to your target demographic of dope dealers, old ladies and immigrants with no credit. WE’RE NOT INTERESTED AND IT’S EXTREMELY TACKY OF YOU. B!TCHES (Rick James Voice)

• xnohtyp

Stereotypes aside, Cricket is targeting end users looking to pay less, with that said they focus on low income areas, i know for a fact they are penny pinching investing in their wireless infrastucture.  @facebook-776110380:disqus dope dealers are everywhere, including your high class neighborhood, old ladies, we don’t need to go there, and immigrants, well they are everywhere, we are the foundation of this great nation.

• Nova

Here in philly.. depending on the wind factor lol.

• Cricket & MetroPCS are now saying they provide 90% coverage nationwide. However, when in the coverage maps most zip codes don’t go through.

• Glad you found this. Gadz, that is a bad advertisement. I have seen Cricket storefronts in strip malls around Baltimore/Washington DC.

• DetroitTechnoFan

Definitely not here in Detroit!

• Euched513

They have service in Cincinnati….I think they use Sprint for their network coverage.

• Anonymous

they use t-mobile

• Gm Aharrington1

No they use Sprint. Look in the coverage section of Wikipedia.

• AdrianMT4G

Cincinnati Represent!

Anyway, their service sucks monkey cojones here in Cinci. If you get on the highway, your call will drop quicker than you can blink. If you walk in the wrong spot anywhere (indoor or out) your call will drop.

Cricket = Shitket.

• Hdcycles77

Sounds like Tmo coverage here on the Illinois side of St Louis.

…This is the “competition” AT&T is proclaiming exists in the wireless marketplace? Cricket is barely a step above burners..

• Tito!

Can I just say, Leap [the owning company of Cricket is against this Merger.] so this voids all advantages.

IF anything, something tells me Cricket is being payed by AT&T’s lobbyist in an attempt to “prove” that this merger helps “competition” just by Cricket attempting a marketing strategy they never have before?
Little do they know, this “attempt” still doesn’t prove that people will indeed and in fact see Cricket as an alternative? This is where the joke comes in, nobody, I mean NOBODY is stupid enough in this time who is a consumer of the mobile industry dumb enough, to actually think of Cricket in such light.
In the end, the joke is on Cricket: T-Mobile disappears, you go down with it. no matter how close of a competitor in pricing you guys are [thus, exactly why T-Mobile is needed in this industry. they are the Leverage. the are the key motivator.]

Thanks, AT&T. But Nice try (:
this “marketing strategy” does nothing. please expect your arguments to be shot down, by me :D

FCC, I hope you know the collossal  of this situation. & can handle it appropriately. Denying it, maybe?
Because it does no good. Everybody is watching you (:

• Tito!

The Funny thing is: this commercial says, “you’ll get stranded waiting for this merger.”

to me, that doesn’t describe enough how it will be like if this merger were to pass,
thanks AT&T, again. you just proved: either, that you’re going far to lobby smaller potentially opposing carriers, or are just really that dumb to indiscreetly infamize your network for having a reputation of poor infidelity in terms of service. :D

Thanks! MagentaSQUAD :)

• Stranded cause of Merger or No Merger, T-Mobile has always taken care of me and my Wireless needs for the past 7 years, they gave us all the first taste of Android, T-Mobile goes down, I go down with it.

• Tito!

Stranded if the merger happens, of course.
I Love my T-Mobile as well (:
They’ve never left me stranded .

Cricket is huge in TX and I just heard a radio ad that stated “if you are on tmobile you could be traded, now is the time to switch to Cricket”

• CradleOfChaos

Im glad to see Cricket stepping up this game. I was a customer when they first came out, and they were just something..new.. I mean, while these big carriers were pushing around big prices, they offered everything for unlimited, at one flat price… Ending middle school, starting High School, they were a perfect choice, because no contracts and all that were just..good. I dont know how it is now, but when Cricket first came out here, it was only in like 4 states.. Cricket now almost covers ALMOST all states I believe, with coverage in most major areas.. I dont mean to sterotype or anything.. but around here, I live around a decent area (not poor, not rich..just regular hard working people, working check to check..) ALmost everyone I know has Cricket here. Its cheap, we aint gotta worry about minutes, contracts.. some of us just dont need that high speed hardware..Ive been a Tmobile customer for 5 years, I love it, but sometimes, my bill is just getting the best of me, and Id be happy to switch back to Cricket.. but like I said, for the most part, Im happy with Tmobile :)

• CradleOfChaos

And Im not trying to attack Tmo, and be all Cricket fanboy here… but that phone they offered for free… it certainly beats my Samsung Vibrant in surfing the web most times lol…Alot of people (espcially here) just need a basic Android phone..nothing fancy, and thats who Cricket is targeting. Here, Cricket stores are highly populated. I just think its kinda cool seeing them stepping up advertisements, especially around this whole merger. Good for them.

• Guest

Has anyone thought about the fact that T-mobile phone have more innovation in their software and hardware than any of crickets best phones. I mean really lets be serious here every company has its benefits in certain areas. I mean Cricket will never be a Nationwide carrier. Will someone one please understand that their are only 4 major carriers. In addition, the reason why cricket phones are no contract is cause the phones are worthless. The company might may $50 dollars for the phone but they will sell it to you for full price and the phone might only last you a year or a couple of month. On the other hand if the phone is free it only means that is the quality your getting. Honestly last time I heard nothing free is quality. If you had a bad experience with your vibrant, then that’s just one phone on T-mobiles line up. I will put my G2 to compete against what ever phone cricket may offer. Oh one more thing my platform of android updates before any of the phones in crickets line up. What you pay is what you get and cricket is a great name for what you get. :)

• kl

unlimited? Huh unlimited to just 1 gb of data! Lol

• CradleOfChaos

Meh, like I said, alot of people are going to talk sh*t… Just like how AT&T talks down on Tmobile…. everyone is always going to have something to say, good or bad. Here, CRicket gets the job done, and thats that.

• I hate these low end carriers, like Metro POS (piece of shit) and cricket. Long live T-Mobile!!

• I ran several zip codes – New York, California, Georgia, Florida – nothing, nada, zip. Cricket can’t compare to T-Mobile. I pay $160 per month for the following: Samsung Vibrant phone with 1000 minutes plus unlimited data & text; Samsung Galaxy Tab with 2GB monthly bandwidth; and a Dell 3G Netbook with unlimited monthly broadband. I have no complaints and like the service far better than AT&T, my previous provider.

• Techtramp

Exactly. I’m in NY and when some relatives in Louisville, KY ask me about Cricket, I just give them the blank stare. I’d rather go back to pagers or even two cans on string. Have multiple lines/dif devices like you on Tmo and I’m happy

• Maschwar77

I’d love to see a comedic response from T-Mobile: like someone getting dizzy and puking from looking for signal with Cricket’s service.

• lmao what a joke.. cricket is trash and cant even compare to tmobile.. here in cali u dont see or hear anything about cricket. lol cricket sucks and will never touch tmobile..

• Vader199355

crickets done belong in the house or in your pocket

• Techtramp

For some reason, nearly everyone I know in Louisville, KY have that garbage phone service. Without fail, dropped calls, situations where I can hear the person but they can’t me, etc…I suppose the plans are excellent as folks will flash Sprint phones to Crik et for the joy of not being able to use the web or send/receive mms. If your credit is shot in the ‘ville, Cricket seems to be the servi ce of choice

• Ouch!

• Grasshopper

smart commercial i response to AT&T, for the record i will not be going to cricket to trade in my tmo phone for a wack ass Ascend nice try though cricket

• LMP

Las Vegas is a Cricket market.

• Mr Young19

This is a sad sad sad day. I never thought i would see or hear the day. When crickets wireless  would try to sit at the grown ups table. What going on T-mobile????. I been with you for like 12 years. You was my first cell phone company. In i thought you was going to be my last. i was told as a kid that it take two to tango. But i guess you are hanging  up your dancing shoes……….

• WHATASHAME

Yeah……shame on them

• Pappa Bear

So smart, so Crooked!!!

• guest

Wow why all the negativity here . . . Seriously guys it is marketing it is how the world works.  T-mobile bashes AT&T and Verizon plenty why should cricket be any different?  But i would appreciate a response from T-mobile here . . . i mean its like they are just sleeping

• Anonymous

Why would Tmobile reply?  Its always the little guy bashing the bigger guy, you never saw Tmobile get targeted by V or AT&T because there would be no point in it.  More so now when they are so focused on selling out.

• Tmoguy1

Cricket is a joke that = crappy phones, no cell towers, and I’m too poor and can’t afford to manufacture a decent phone.

• Tortionist

There’s a good sized cricket market here in Utah. I was with them for a year. Here’s the lowdown on them. The phones suck. you pay full price for them and they’re expensive. Yes Cricket is cheaper, but for a phone bill that’s  supposed to be cheaper at 50$ a month, mine went up $5 a month every month, until i dropped them like a bad habit for T-Mobile, who by the way, gave me a plan without any money down because I am an Army veteran. This was right around memorial day 2007. Cricket sucks and has a smaller footprint. I also heard several other people complain about their bill going up by $5 a month every month. Talk about crooked.

• BigMixxx

Saw that commercial earlier. It was pretty good.  HOWEVER, LEAP just like DT would not hesitate in selling cricket….

• Rick Johnson

They have a big presence in the Phoenix area.

• Gm Aharrington1

Cricket it trying to get customers and no harm in that. Heck everyone wants more customers, isn’t that one of two reasons AT&T is buying T-Mobile? The second being they can’t roll out their LTE without T-Mobile. Fyi, Cricket uses Sprint and Metro Pcs for their 3g. Here is the proof. Read the whole thing on Wikipedia.

• Anonymous

Cricket is straight up garbage. I see they didn’t compare T-Mobile’s Monthly4G plans which are in direct competition with T-Mobile’s.. the 79.99 plan actually gives you access to discounted phones like the Sensation 4G.. not the Huawei GARBAGE Ascend

• Jack

Here in new mexico I call cricket “ghetto wireless”

• Jack

Haha. Here in SF, we call Metro PCS Ghettro Piece of… well, you get the idea. But Metro is actually doing pretty well here.

• Patmvaldez

Lol! Kind of the same way in El Paso. When my wife and I were doing our taxes, I took my little girl for a walk outside while my wife took care of business. Next door was a Cricket store and the two female customers inside were wearing stripper size high heels. The guy I used to work for had Cricket and half the time he was. out of network. Though one time in socorro, tx i notices the only phones getting service were Cricket. Go figure!

• Anonymous

Clik doesn’t have service in the whole NE region (they don’t have license at all), metroJUNK has it.
Their phones are 99999th world one even the LTE model. Not to mention tethering is strictly prohibited.

• haha cricket has like NO coverage

• even when tmobile is taked over ppl will know about them more then cricket still!

• TMoFanatic

Their coverage is in the West; I have a friend in Southern California who has Cricket.
I’ve never found a reason to be particularly impressed by them, though.

• JG01

Thought I would call them from seeing the ad. One thing this post does not say is, they only cover a very limited portion of the US, TMONEWS covers a national audience. So I called them and got reject by the automated phone service because of my zip. Not sure how good this firm is.

Anyhow, this post is not relevant ( Dave, you added this post just to give your readers something), compared to the adds tmonews have been posting. Give us the juicy stuff, not boring crap!

BTW Dave, what are you going to do when AT&T takes over? what will happen to this site…..ATTNews.com? wegotscrewedNews.com? anyway , this site won’t be tmonews.com anymore…..what are we going to do for our special info? Like I siad before, ATT buys Tmobile, then Verizon buys Sprint and we are back to where we the US was back in the 40’s & 50s…..what happen to meaning…The US is the country of free enterprise and freedom of choice? there are not going to be many things to choose from soon. The walls are going up, the door and windows are closing…… we are going to be locked in with nowhere to go !!

• This news is still relevant because its interesting to see how other carriers are reacting to the AT&T/T-Mobile news. I’ve secured a number of domain names for an eventual move to an AT&T focused site and that’s what will happen.

• Meagan

This would be a good time for Tmobile to push their lower prepaid plans.

• Oh that’s in works my friend… smh if Cricket only knew

• John

Cricket is in the Kansas City area.  I think they are using Sprint towers.

• John

• rev2redlineguy

Hahahahahahaha! I was laughing my bootie off as I saw this commercial. Cricket….really! And being stranded…no way at all. If worse came to worse and this merger goes through, I would bite the bullet and stick it out before I would even consider switching over to Cricket. That would be like me trading in my Porsche for a Yugo….lol!

• rev2redlineguy

BTW….I really don’t own a Porsche…lol!

• Cricket is trying to draw people in with offers of free Androids.. smh anyone can make “Free Androids” but people want powerful Androids and Cricket can’t put that on the table… There are a lot of folks who don’t give a crap about price plans, only the phone model they’re using or aspiring to get. Cricket can’t out shine T-Mobile in a Phone to Phone showdown.

• Cricket is trying to draw people in with offers of free Androids.. smh anyone can make “Free Androids” but people want powerful Androids and Cricket can’t put that on the table… There are a lot of folks who don’t give a crap about price plans, only the phone model they’re using or aspiring to get. • j-man

wow this is ridiculous!! I think that cricket would be the one that would leave you stranded.  like many others have said, I would rather stick with the merger than switch to Cricket.  If things come to worse, I would go to Boost or Virgin before Cricket.

• Dalton

Its a chicago based carrier yet I live <150 miles from there and coverage is worse than anybody out here. They even have a cricket store 1/2 a mile away.

• Dalton

I can’t remember which one is less than so whatever, that’s what I meant.

• dave

Crickets corporate headquarters is San Diego although their service is in Chicago. I live in Chicago and would not want to make this city look bad. US Cellular is based in Chicago. Probably switch to them when Tmo goes.

• j-man

I know that with US Cellular, you get pretty service, almost everywhere.  I am from Chicago and I know people that have US Cellular and they are pretty happy with it.  Just that it is much more expensive than T-Mobile.

• Zach747

not make the city look bad??? chicago has to be the most corupt, greedy city in the nation, never met so many hosiers in my life, nasty nasty city.

• Anonymous

I am also from Chicago, and cricket is hit and miss coverage wise.  There are times in the suburbs where you lose coverage randomly for no reason.  Their coverage maps are a joke, and areas marked with “we’ve got you covered” don’t always have service even though the map says so.  My son had cricket for 4 months of poor coverage, missed texts, and cs reps in far away places that were not  understandable.  No thank you, pass.

• Anonymous

I have a lot of respect for prepaid regional carriers like Cricket and Metro, and even Sprint-owned prepaid companies like Boost and Virgin. I love their pricing structure: bring your own phone, and pay a flat, simple, prepaid rate for each month of service. Straightforward and honest. The coverage is sometimes lousy, but for a lot of people it works well enough where they live, work and play, and they’re not too concerned about whether they can get signal everywhere else.

Plus, no credit checks or contracts or other nonsense.

As a side note, if you go on Cricket’s (or Metro’s) site and they say they don’t offer service in your area, that doesn’t mean you won’t get signal there, just that they don’t have native towers. You can still activate in another part of the country and use your phone in that zip code; it’ll just be roaming (likely on Sprint.) They just can’t sell you service based on roaming coverage.

• Anonymous

Bring your own phone? They don’t accept Sprint-branded devices on the Sprint MVNOs as far as I know.

• juicebox

Perhaps if they offered me an Android device NOT made by Huawei (or ZTE although that is not mentioned), then I might consider it. Right now, I don’t trust these specific telecom equipment providers.

• Anonymous

“So smart, so crooked”

• dave

Tmo is a first class company. Sales ,reception, phones good, better if they had more choices, rates. Cricket is not even compeating with them, guess they don’t know this. Crickets base is ppl with bad credit, and little money,or just really cheap ppl with money and credit,so the ad can’t work to lure away tmo ppl. I may stay with Tmo to get the Atrix from AT&T.

• Dewey Cox

Same can be said for some of T-Mo customer base. That’s how they got started.

• Rashad McCray

Not the same. We owned our own towers(not leased them) and we prioritized customer service. I’m not even sure cricket has customer service from what i hear.

• omgitzjose

by the time the merger takes place im sure the atrix wont even be on sale anymore lol

• dave

well Atrix2 then.

• Zach747

lol tmobile is so succesfull, it couldn’t sustain a business model…

• LFMAO

so desprate! So crooked!

• MIKEEEEE

100 miles+ from 38221.

• Curious George

Cricket has service in San Diego, but I don’t use them because the SUCK ASS!

• cricket=wicket

• Bleedingelement2231

cricket service cant even compare to T-Mobile….cricket service sucksss and the phone are not even worth going to cricket!

• Todd Nelson

Cricket has to share and/or lease tower usage from other networks otherwise they would not have service outside their main market areas.  This means slower data rates and lower signal priorities when you are on a out of market area.  Especially since no carrier will let you lease tower usage at the same speeds and priorities they give to their own customers.  It’s kind of like generic brands at grocery stores, very similar but not quite the same quality.  I’ll put it to you this way, you will never see a business man (traveling or not) with a Cricket phone and definitely not a IT guy or anyone with a tech related job.

• trife

We all know Cricket can’t really compare to TMO.  But I will never understand people getting all butt hurt when their particular brand/company of choice happens to be in someone else’s crosshairs.

It’s called business folks.  A smart company will use any and every opportunity to gain ground on those ahead of them.  That’s all this is…a marketing move to generate more business and more $$.  No need to get all up in arms.

• Dswagg2k10

No, thanks dishonesty. If you if get with a company like that they’re just going to do the same to you. #JustSaying

• Maschwar77

Maybe Cricket could have taken the advertising dollars spent on creating this smear campaign and used them instead to improve their network.  Just a suggestion …. what do I know?

• HTC Pyramid

not sure why all of the negative comments about people who use Cricket. They work hard for their dollars just like I do and you might. Hell, customers on Verizon and ATT think most T-mobile customers are customers with bad credit…think before you bash others.

• Todd Nelson

We don’t have bad credit, we just don’t want to spend that much for cell service.  Not when T-mobile offers better service for less.  Only thing Verizon and ATT has on T-mobile is the phone selection.  T-mobile is closing that gap now too.  ATT’s excuse for wanting to buy T-mobile is them basically admitting they need a better network.  I guess all the complaints about their service have finally pushed them into doing something and this seems to be their fastest way of accomplishing it.

• wow, really??? T-mobile offers better customer service for sure, but their network has been terrible for me here in San Antonio (like the 8th largest city in the USA). Frequent outages of 3g/4g and 3 complete service outages in the last year. At least Sprint was reliable. Beginning to think cdma = slow but reliable and GSM = fast but unreliable. T-mobile also runs on the highest frequencies which means I get no service in my office unless I’m next to a window. Even had to get a Wifi hotspot from time warner just so I could have connection at work for internet. Switching to Verizon is actually saving me money because they are offering free mobile to mobile right now so I don’t have to have an unlimited plan and extra lines are only 10 bucks a month plus data which is really unlimited. T-mobile isn’t the deal it used to be unless you are a legacy customer.

• Xavi620

Guys, I work for Cricket and I can tell you that they are really stepping up their game, they wouldn’t be doing this if they didn’t had a crappy network. We’re upgrading to 4G LTE in the begining of next year and with the deal with lightsquared should make our 4G service even better. We will be launching dual core Android phones by the end of the year, and the CEO of the company is even thinking about launching postpaid(contract), alongside or prepaid plans to get better smartphones available.

• Lighting

Sorry, but in my area cricket has horrible service. And everyone knows it. You made a great comment but, EVERYTHING you said that is good about cricket has not even happend yet. I don’t buy cell service because a company will have great service in the future. I buy because they have good service.

• Plus, why did Cricket compare their pre-paid plans with T-mobile’s post paid plans.  Shouldn’t have been same type of account plans?

• delusion ftl

Does t-mobile give you a free phone if you use their post paid plans like cricket does?   That’s why.

• dave

From what I’ve read, what you say is true. I figure them to be a good nationwide carrier in the future. Which of the 2 will buy them out then is the question,AT&T,or VZ?

• Anonymous

Usually you attack your biggest competitor, I’m very happy with T-Mobiles service. No other carrier can give me close to what I’m getting with T-Mobile. Cricket ???? Are they even in business yet ???? They better step up their game because if T-Mobile gets swallowed up Cricket will get swatted away like a bug.

• Anonymous

If I were to ditch T-Mobile for a prepaid carrier, I’d switch to Metro PCS. At least they have 4G LTE. Why would I switch to a crappy CDMA carrier like Cricket?

• HD2android

Im Not even sure cricket is available in my area.. But its a good marketing ploy ! I guess i have to say great commercials because look @ all this chatter about a bug !

• BWest

Cricket is sold in my area of OH (Dayton).  My question is why would I want to give up my myTouch 4G for their Piece of Crap (2.5 headphone jack, Bloatware, and crappy dialer UI…), year plus out of date (android 2.1), Huawei Ascend… and that is their best phone!

• Dave

Cricket taking on T-Mobile is like T-Mobile taking on Verizon…

• Anonymous

Lmao cricket r u serious? My g2x is faster with no service then cricket with 3g xD

• Dswagg2k10

i love you cosmo lmao

• Flashburn503

I’m originally from Portland, Oregon but living in Maine Cricket is all over the Pacific Northwest Iv’e heard rumors that they are a goverment run company who knows if it is true or not but you never know!!!

• ColdFeet

Prolly because everyone who uses Cricket is on food stamps and welfare…

• Bearlymisbehavin06

Government run? That could be true? LOL…crap, that is enough reason to avoid them, they cannot run a country. No, wait, I got it, yes….They probably do own Cricket, they want to give you crap phones, lousy service, not tell you all about the fine print and so forth, yep, sounds about right to me,maybe we have an answer after all?

Hahahahaha. Trade in my Samsung Vibrant for a Huwaii Ascend…

They should atleast offer a real phone.

• Patmvaldez

All kidding aside I know one niche Cricket has, at least among my daughters friends is its a good kids line if you want unlimited web/call/text.. Consider Tmobile unlimited family plan. If memory serves, the cost to add a third line with unlimited calling is $40. Add unlimited data at $30 and the kids line is costing you an extra $70 so its a good option to just get them a Cricket phone account that can easily and cheaply deactivated for punishment.

• BWest

Yea, and you want a piece of crap phone for them in case they lose it, damage it or are otherwise irresponsible with their technology.

• Patmvaldez

True. My daughters friend is on Tmobile and her parents got her a Mytouch 4G which she lost a week and a half after getting it.

• Lcb084

Lol… Add a line for unltd is now $30 and data as little as $10… That eqautes to $40… Sounds like tmobile is the better choice for a kids line

• Patmvaldez

That $10 for 200mb of data, not unlimited. Let’s not compare apples to oranges.

No kid will get by with just 200mb. ;)

• So do the 2GB web for $20 and the unlimited minutes for $30, which includes the add a line fee.  They could also just be 500min per month, which for many teens is fine because they mostly text.

• Soapboxmanic

$10 is unlimited web with a soft cap of 200MB.  What that means is you will not be charged more than $10 a month for internet but your kids speeds will be slowed down after using 200MB.  Honestly a kid shouldn’t use a data phone like that anyway.  Just wanted to point out that it is still unlimited even though you confidently felt that you had a point in the 200MB.  Cricket has their caps too.  Please educate yourself.

• Bearlymisbehavin06

I agree, and why ARE parents paying all this money for their kid’s cell phones? WHY do kids have cell phones? Why not just get talk and text for the kid and a cheapy phone. No wonder kids do nothing, just cell phones, computers and Wii,etc…. wahoooo …….Keeping track and checking on your kids don’t require a data plan ,does it,really?

• Soapboxmanic

• really??? because I have 4 unlimited lines and it costs 40bucks just for minutes and 15 bucks for 200mb of data just because I’m on the unlimited minutes plan. That’s 55 bucks and 70 if the kid uses the internet at all. Cricket has a point, T-mobile is at a standstill until this deal either goes through or falls off.

• incredibry

HAHAHAHA! why would i give up nation wide hspa+ for crappy low end android phones and crappy coverage? i guess how i see it in this ad, you get what you pay for :)

• I saw this ad last night and thought how long will it be before Cricket is forced to take this ad down. They are essentially using this ad to make ignorant consumers believe that if you have T-Mobile, you better jump ship because you won’t have a phone provider soon.

Cricket is in the Chicago area, but outside of that I don’t imagine it reaches too far. We have it here in the DeKalb/Sycamore area, but just 20 minutes west in Rochelle, there is nothing. It is cheap, good for those with bad credit and are forced to pay $200-400 for a security deposit on their line. Their “broadband” internet is slow. Had a buddy of mine with it and it sucked hard.

• delusion ftl

Cricket doesn’t do security deposits or credit checks, just like most other pre-paid carriers.

• That’s what I was saying.

• Zach747

you being from shitcago know a lot about sucking!

cricket has stores in Ft Collins and Greeley Colorado as well.

• Luis Rivera047088

LMFAO! Hahahahahahaha!

How much did ATT pay them to do this?

• slicker

Never heard of em, maybe they are just CRICKETS, and all they do is, make NOISE.

• Bearlymisbehavin06

Ah,I rather like crickets, maybe it should be changed to “Cockroaches”!  All around fits better. I have had Tmobile for 4 yrs,and I am month to month on the Evermore Plus plan as I stated up above,I pay far less than on a contrac plan now,but you need to go in the store now to do this, it is not on the site like before. As for crappy phones, to each their own, but I LOVE my HTC,and hubby loves his Galaxy. If you go on the Cockroache’s site, LOOK at those phones, ratings,etc.. they are a joke, like near a play cell phone for kids. The only one I have even heard of on there is the Blackberry Curve or Bold! Some look like they came out a cereal box for a toy.

• Suziq012

My daughter has had cricket here in freano ca for over 3 years and i just got her their new Huawei Ascend smart phone(3G) last december 2010 & the service is great & the internet is really fast and pages load just like my home computer. Their service coverage has improved alot in the last year & their new touch screen android/smart phones are great or atleast their  Huawei Ascend is. I use to have tmo & it was terrable coverage & I was using someone’s at&t web/internet on their 3g android yesturday or tried to use it & internet service is terrible on their smart phones, it don’t load the pages right and takes forever if it loads at all before the phone just restarts because it loses service..

• Twistmycap

Cricket is soo new ken… hell with them.. im going to sprint if the buyout gos through..
Cricket has the worst worst customer service and insurance plans, REALLY CRICKET?? your phones arent supported, yet alone are cheaply made.. No thanks!

• there like CRICKETS TO ME…CAN’T Hear them AT ALL…….

• Mgt2014

All of these ignorant people talk so bad about cricket when they probably haven’t tried it. The fact is in Houston I get twice as more dropped calls with t-mobile than cricket. I can barley even hold a 3g signal let alone 4g, while on my cricket phone I can always count on having 3g. Yea they arent “4g like speeds” but its reliable. Plus I travel to lake Jackson a lot and t-mobile doesn’t even have 2g there my phone says G where on my cricket my 3g is still kicking.. and I know I have both carriers.

• Anonymous

Here’s the reality of what you posted – Cricket has no where near the subscriber base as T-Mobile, and no where near the network congestion.

• me

Network congestion has nothing to do with thier coverage being poor…. At the moment on my tmobile phone I can only text certain people, which sucks I hate tmobile hello cricket

• Anonymous

That’s due to a routing issue, I’m familiar with it, if you call technical support they can file a trouble ticket and resolve it for you, I used to work for T-mobile and that’s what I did

• MeSoSilly

HaHaHaHa…. This thread is 2 months old.  No one listening but the crickets

• David

Only reason I switch to CRICKETS when T-Mobile is dead will be having good phones which they don’t. T-Mobile already has so many crappy Android phones and no wonder their business is not good compare to others. CRICKETS offer even more crappy android phones so no thanks. I wait till T-Mobile is dead and will move to AT&T with much better phones with Blackberry, WP, and maybe iOS.

• Loalpine

wow, you have no idea what you are talking ABOUT. You actually sound like and average cricket customer, so we would appreciate it if you just stayed where you are with cricket. T-mobile service isn’t for everyone.

• Bigmerf

i would not call the g2x, nexus, nexus s and sensation4g crappy.. not one bit. that tmo has crappy phones is getting old and becoming obsolete

• Let me get this straight, I can trade in my 30 year old T-Mobile Dash and receive a new Android phone for the price of one month of service?

• Let me get this straight, I can trade in my 30 year old T-Mobile Dash and receive a new Android phone for the price of one month of service?

• JustThinkin

T-mobile should respond by putting out a commercial that is just the white background
and a little cricket just chirping away… Carly walks in, stomps on
it, smiles and does a little curtsey, then walks out…

I think that would make the point..

• Mangobeach

The only place I have seen Criket Wireless is in San Diego. Is that their only market?

• Anonymous

never even heard of cricket so that shows how popular they are.CRICKET FAIL.

• Noeleaser

What a joke.. Cricket sucks..

• Torybelloise

Hah, wow. Where I live in Boulder, CO we have Cricket. They are actually pretty good with reception, but need to offer free roaming….

• delusion ftl

They do offer free roaming on Sprint.  And 5 a month roaming on vzw.

• Kea J

there is nothing wrong with the commercial..it is a great marketing add so to speak and I have tmobile..at least with cricket you know what your paying for and no surprise charges..no its not very popular in some areas but that is the whole point in advertising and creating reasonable plans for low income ppl or just ppl who want to cut expenses..Im thinkin about switching over..Paying 80 buck for unlimited everything and could be doing the same for 55..smh..Tmobile needs to step up their game b4 another merge happens within cell phone companies

• noeleaser

Cricket is NOT the same caliber of service. They are not nationwide. Their data speeds are nowhere’s near TMO. Thier phone selection is lacking. 90% of my custoners that switch to Cricket, come back within a month because it’s such a joke…

• 21stNow

Cricket has stores in the washington dc area. I can’t speak about the quality of their coverage.

• Brittony

Cricket has nationwide service and unlimited, free roaming on the Sprint network. You can checkout the coverage area, rate plans, and smartphone options at mycricket.com. Don’t be fooled, Cricket is growing faster than any other wireless company.

• MS-tery

Did someone pay you to say that?

• Sarah

Please Cricket uses roaming agreements with other phone companites for ALL 3G DATA in all major cities.  AND They promise NO in-building or IN-car coverage anywhere for 3g data because they are ‘borrowing’ cell towers.

I have tMo for myself, bought a cricket for my son figured cheap who cares if he looses it.  Absolutly no reception, He’s 10 the phone was just so I can keep track of him in the neighborhood….It was as good as haveing no phone.  He’s at my neighbors, and has no reception OUTSIDE in the yard???  When I called and tried to explain to there TERRIBLE foreign customer server…I had to hang up the first time, I just could not understand the women her english was as good as my Indian.  Called back and asked to cancel the phone…instead my plan was upgraded???!!!!!  Call again and I spend 15 minutes trying to convience them to cancel the phone It gets no reception in my area.   I tried to explain to them that my 10 year old doesnt need a roaming plan he can only travel so many blocks.  Ahhh they suck!!!  I was seriously thinking when I first got the phone if this is good I may just switch.   No way!

• Specter619

Tmobile is dead in the water theyre losing customers faster than they can get them.thier parent company doesn’t want them, they’re losing $. If at&t can’t acquire them the company will likely be sold off in pieces. at&t has a network congestion problem in some prime markets like new york and san francisco. I phone customers have long been aware of this problem. It will only get worse with the merger. I worked at tmobile for 7 years, the service sucks which is why they can’t seem to hold on to customers. They are consistently #1 in customer service but #4 in over all customer satisfaction. That tells me that people want thier service to work(as advertised) and that customer is nice but not as relevant as tmobile thinks it is…our wants it to be. Good bye tmobile, good riddance.

• Specter619

…and that customer *service*is nice but ……

I switched from Verizon to Wal-mart/T-mobile prepaid plan and I love it. Verizon will be missed; however, I’m not trying to file bankruptcy to communicate with others. T-mobile’s customer service is AWESOME! I was so impressed with their human-to-human service wherein I purchased my tablet through them to kill my internet service with Cricket. My BFF left Cricket’s wireless phone service years ago with no regrets, and its internet service is boo boo. A lot of my students have Cricket phones and they constantly complain about poor signal, no connection and bland customer service. When Cricket creates its own network towers, then they can challenge the big dogs. Until then Cricket is to T-mobile as Saturn cars are to Honda cars.

• Rtl777

TMo towers will be sold, … using all AT&T in the future with the iPhones and the crappy service.  Goodby Sidekicks, … Goodbye G-2, …. It is going to suck really bad

• Ambee61488

Tmobile sucks as soon as I can get away from them I will they are too expensive an my bf has cricket and gets better signal than I do in places where I should be getting it. Plus for android he pays $55 where as I also have one and I’m paying close to $100 and its not all unlimited

• Hhjlhljh

yea but thats why u see everybody that has cricket has the same phone they have no selections and there phones look to crappy

• Jnites

T’mobile is full of it, they do not offer unlimited everything, it’s false… They have a cap on internet usage on that “special,” but I guess it is SPECIAL, anybody that believes that tmobile is still good IS “special”…If you know what I mean.

• Crybabies

Its funny how people complain about T-Mobile’s plan not being unlimited.  Here is the fine print from the cricket website.  “Rate plan contains a 1GB data usage level. Once you reach your usage level your speeds will be reduced.”

t-mobile does that as well

Been a tmo customer for 10years. Tmo customer service is horrible. They over charge and add sh*t to my bill every month. I use all my minutes arguing with tmo customer service idiots. And i am not at all happy about the at&t merge. At&t is expensive and overrated! I am happy to switch to cricket in a month after my stupid contract is up with tmo. Same phones & same service in Fresno,CA. I wish cricket would help buy my tmo contract out so I can switch sooner!

• Papi

You can use ur minutes talking to reps are u an idiot or what

• Papi

You can use ur minutes talking to reps are u an idiot or what

• Bearlymisbehavin06

Uh, you do not use personal minutes on your Tmobile wireless phone, you call 611 ! And from a home phone, they have free 800 numbers. I am having a hard time saying this, really, but who did you say was the idiot here? Cricket? you want some horrid service, I do not think you will be LOL when you get them from all I have heard. Me? ,us? We ran out of our contract this past Feb 2011,and I am on the EverMore Plus plan. Month to month, and We are paying  8.00 more than the 55.00 plan per line on Cricket, and we have all unlimited everything but minutes, which is at 1500,and barely get even near that number. We both have droid smart phones. We have no service issues at all with our phones. The month to month plan is cheaper than the contract plans, you buy the phone, and you can pay outright or break into 19 monthly pymnts, but you pay alot for the contract plans,as you end up paying way more than if you just buy the phone on this plan. Do your homework, and yeah, only thing I agree with is AT&T bites, first company I ever went to and started with in 1997.I would go prepaid before I go with AT&T.Oh,and I cannot help myself, but that is what you get for living in the armpit known as Fresno! Please do not move anywhere to the bay area.We don’t need no more odd people here.

• Rod

Well you can love TMo all you want, … but it will soon be AT&T and your rates will go UP, … and your services will change

If AT&T Buys TMO, … You no longer have a contract.  Look at the fine print, … if they are sold they cannot hold you to the contract.  Cricket is fine, … I have a few friends already there from TMO and they love it!  I’m heading there as well!

• enzo

criket is balls. cant go withen 1 mile from the hotspot they tell you where u have service.  Dont get it. the connection seeds at 0.04 download and 0.02 upload mps. on Speed Test app.  Now on my G2x i get around 5.00mps to 7.00mps constally. Cant go wrong with T mobile

• demi

T-Mobile lost me when they refused to do anything about the froyo update that made my phone completely useless. I’m happy to change to Cricket!

• pineapple girl

cricket is kind of frustrating i get no reception when i leave my area or barely when am in my room, even if i do the *228 thing..am going to try tmobile no contract plan and see how it goes…i never understand what  the costumer service agents are sayin either…

• Dowhat35

T-mobile sucks horribly. If you’re not getting reception though, it’s probably the crappy phone, not the service.

• Im Just Sayin’

I guess a lot of people have done their research. I have a Cricket phone (Huawei Ascend) and most of my problems come from the games I play from TeamLava ….’Resturant Story’, Bakery Story’, ‘Nightclub Story’, etc. The audio works faster than the visual, and it forecloses or freezes on you like an old 1990 computer. Just when you thought touch screen was great…….I guess you get what you pay for. A little advice for those that are looking for GOOD Android Smartphones with a low monthly bill…..IT DOESNT EXIST!!!!!!!!!!! So what I pay $55 a month! The 3G dropes whenever it wants to sometimes! Any Boost Mobile Customers? Im tired of this T-mobile and Cricket Debate.

• Dowhat35

My 3G drops on my samsung galaxy s a lot as well. I’m on t-mobile. So many issues I’ve had with t-mobile..and at&t… unfortunately, it’s pretty much all phone companies. Cell phones suck.

• Harper-raymond22

Hey guys and girls! 1st i will like to say that i had t-mobile for 7years and i recently brought the Glaxy phone and to tell u the trust tmobile is very expensive! I used the hotspot on the phone and in less then 15 hours i went over 2GB! HOW I DO NOT KNOW!! But i also brought a cricket phone for my son and he uses the internet all the time and downloads apps! But Cricket only gives u 1GB of 3G high speed internet! But look here once that 1GB is gone the internet will not slow down it will just be on a nother 3G network! and it will still be fast!!! TMOBILE SUCKS AND when March comes am buying me a cricket android phone! and also CRICKET HAS MUVE MUSIC!!!! SO SOON I WILL BE SAYING GOODBYE TMOBILE!! ALSO Cricket is in 85% Of the USA but if we keep buying the phones then of course it will be allround the USA! ALSO I HEARD IN THE SUMMER TIME 2012 4G will be on crickets network!!! AND THE monthly plans will go drop down to just $40 a month! O AND By the way if u dont wont a android phone cricket also has $35 a month plans! UNLIMATED EVERYTHING!!!!! NOW DATS WHAT I CALL THE WAY TO SAVE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ALWAYS FAST!!!!!!

• Randall_davis01

cricket sucks, I’m trying to get my girlfriend to switch from cricket to T-Mobile because if you have a problem with your cricket service you can’t talk to someone from this country, you have to talk to someone from India, and you can’t understand what there saying, they try to sell you service on the phone instead of addressing the problem that you called for, and you end up talking to a supervisor that speaks even less English than the person you stared with; this co. is so cheap that they remind you of your next bill in the beginning of the month after you have already paid.what do they do with the millions of dollars that they make from people! they sure don’t put it back into there product!!

• Shay

So you have to talk to a guy in India and that ONLY happens with Cricket? I’ll have to tell the Indian dude I talked to about my t-mobile service and see if he agrees… All cell phone services have issues. All phones have issues. It’s hit or miss. You missed.

• Matthew23319

I live in Fresno ca and cricket sucks tmobile is fast and good just as all the main carriers (Verizon,AT&T,Sprint,T-Mobile)are so fast make cricket look like a company that is going out of business :p

• js

I live in austin tx and have the s4 with cricket its pretty fast even when I use all my high speed data and I only pay 50

• PburghFightChamp

i know these posts were 2 years ago but Try cricket wireless now? I have my s4 with them and love it. Now that the whole AT&T & AIO Wireless merger is about to be finalized. I expect even better service. i only pay 115 a month for 5 lines. Mum Bro sis sis me. the free muve music app is what caught me. the guys in robinson mall (15205) set me up & im loving it
