Oh No! Nationwide Outage

UPDATE 1: As of 9:30pm est approximately only 5% of users are still experiencing a service disruption. The rapid response team which really equates to Catherine Zeta Jones flying from tower to tower is on the job.

UPDATE 2: Please do not overload T-Mobile customer care regarding this issue, they are swamped, overloaded and they have as much information as you do!! Give them a break!

Apparently, a nationwide voice outage is plaguing some users today.  This outage seems to be limited to voice, and for some reason it is causing phones to not be recognized on a network while using T-Mobile’s UMA service.  Let’s hope this gets resolved quickly and let’s be thankful that we all still have our data (is it too soon for that joke?).  We will keep you updated as we learn more.

UPDATE: T-Mobile USA has confirmed that they are aware of the outage and have mobilized their rapid response teams to restore service as quickly as possible. Official statement from T-Mobile below:

T-Mobile customers may be experiencing service disruptions impacting voice and data. Our rapid response teams have been mobilized to restore service as quickly as possible. We will provide updates as more information is available.

It is now currently 7 pm mst and we are still down, we have tried all 5 of our phones and no luck…..i guess we sit around and wait? All while paying them for this…hm?

I am tired of crappy phones and service t-mobile! I think it time to give customers a refund for their inconvience for this outage as you say! Especially if people use their phone for emergency and business!

Please update customers of what the real issue is and apporx. time when the service up!

9 PM Central. Still down in Chicago Suburbs… it is more than 5% here. Both Voice and Data down. Come Friday, I’m going to get a droid and move to Verizonwireless. The sidekick disaster and not this is too much for me. Tmobile, I’m done with you.

  7. tmobiley says:

Outgoing SMS is intermittent – Incoming SMS is more reliable

Incoming Callers get ”Subscriber currently unavailable” – Outgoing calls I get a busy signal

    Data is on/off again…

Glad to see I’m not the only one.

I have been on cell phone for Ernnn..say at least 20years, and this is first time happening to me, and I have been using Tmobile only for 1year!!! Tmobile is now a SORRY CHEAP CRAPY name to me now!

  17. AlexisKay says:

people who are complaining just need to calm down, having no cell phone for a couple hours may be good for you! tmobile is working to fix this issue, and having people rush the store and overload their customer care isnt going to do any good if anything those complaining are making it worse. i dont know how many people have disrespected tmobile reps because of this issue and it really makes ALL OF YOU look bad.

  18. Amanda says:

Still down for me in Seattle. I hate Verizon’s customer service, but at least I don’t have to deal with holes with no recepion, and THIS nonesense.

  20. jmurgol says:

Still down, no voice or data – atlanta, ga

  21. AlexisKay says:

i think that you jesse can switch providers because obviously you dont realize that this is affecting other customers too, maybe your “business” should find better ways to do you shit. All have companies have outages, its a fact of life grow up and get over it. there was a time before cell phones believe it or not you spoiled little prick. :)

  22. CWB says:

Houston is still down. Data only.

  23. onwaitinglist says:

I was pondering of getting rid of my landline last night, I have been little hesitated for many month now…… Now, I need express my thanks to TMo for helping me to make up my mind now.

    Landline is still more reliable.

  24. Howard Walker says:

Data is working for me, can sometimes connect making outgoing calls. Haven’t received any call or text since about 7 EST that I know of. I’m in jacksonville, fl. People seriously need to relax. Your cell service is interrupted. It’s not like your pacemaker quit or the sun is refusing to rise. Yeah, conversations and some business stuff gets messed with. It’s inconvenient, but far from tragic. Personally I hope everyone has an awesome night.

  25. phoneking13 says:

I’m going to assume the reason for the outage is not because of a hopeful nationwide 3G rollout, right?

  26. mattymatt72 says:

I call BS I have 4 lines of service and tmobile at home service. I have nothing on any of the lines, can sms or call. nothing the tmobile at home line is the same way no calling. I do not believe that its only voice and the 5% crap. Their was probably a zero missing ( meaning 50%) and the voice only missing, how do they know, nobody could call to complain. This was it for me. DROID here i come!!!!!!!!!!

  27. NordicNINE says:

    Twin Cities in the “5%”

I was getting really tempted by the Droid, but this may have tipped it even a bit more. How much is the Droid without a contract? I like not having a contract. Even though I’ve been with T-mobile for over 10 years (back when they were Voicestream), I like the fact that I don’t HAVE to stick with them if I don’t.
I doubt I’ll switch because of this one outage and the lack of cool phones lately, but if it happens again, I probably will.

  28. NordicNINE says:

PS- If T-mobile wants to keep their good customer service standing, I think they should automatically give all affected areas a free month. If it’s only 5%, it shouldn’t be a big deal to keep those customers happy.

  29. phoneking13 says:

@timmyjoe: I haven’t had a problem either in Cincinnati, but my best friend says his G1 is still out…

  30. johnkzin says:

Seems better now, but on my way home, SMS wasn’t working at all. In or out bound.

  31. Carl says:

I think people are getting a little overboard with a free month of service for one day of outages, not happening… I expereinced no problems all day, I know some of my friends did, but seems like Southern Texas is covered.

  32. norcomike says:

s california, down since around 3:30, still no voice/ no data. My address is full 3g and dark green which is supposed to be 3-4 bars. I get 1-2 bar max (so many drop calls), 100% slow edge data. Tried to call customer service so many times. who the **** said excellent customer support?? had to file a complaint on http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

  33. NoYou says:

Mine is still out (9:45pm Central) in St Louis Mo but my GF’s phone is working. Lucky me I guess…

  34. Achilles says:

ALL T-Mobile Customers should receive compensation for this VERY unacceptable service! What’s the use of paying for service that you can’t use!

  35. AlexisKay says:

too all the people that are complaining about their business and losing a bunch of money, if your customers are loyal and you business is a good one then you should have nothing to worry about if you explain to your customers that you are sorry there was an outage there is nothing that i could do to help this matter. i bet your customers will be ok and hopefully all you whiners will realize that no one could have predicted this or prevented it. GET OVER IT PEOPLE, they will most likely credit people who had severe interruptions if you want more then that sucks because you are a greedy mo fo!

  36. Viper says:

Umm, to those calling BS on the 5% affected… 5% of approx 32 million subscribers is approx 1.6 million. That’s a lot of people… soooo… believe it.

  37. sheena from las vegas says:

Total inconvience especially when its the 3rd time in 2 months this service sucks I’m super pissed and anyone saying calm down can go sumwhere when ur phones a big part of ur work u need it damnit

to what ever douche wrote that their customer care rocks, but with millions calling it they cant talk to everyone right, or do you just want to jump to the front of the line because you are special?! you are a disgusting person.

  39. edwin says:

trust me, im betta get a discount alright…i demand a refund just like they demand to get their money on time every month!! ANYONE AGREE?? i went out at 5 central and its 10 and no luck what so ever. my dad has reception, im wondering if only smart phones are the only ones affected now..because all my friends that have smarty’s dont got service and the ones with the regular phones do..

  40. Hassoun says:

Grow up people. its called a service interruption. T-mobile didnt do this on purpose. Shit happens. I’ve been with t-mobile for 6 years and you know what ? this outage didnt even change my thoughts about them. I’ll stick with them for another 6. just get over it people and stop making annoying comments. If you’re one of those complainers that sprint let go a while ago then gooo. switch to the Verizon that controls your phone. no free ringtones. No tethering unless you pay 49$. and that would be my word

  41. James says:

hey who are you to tell us dont call customer service?? We are paying for service we cant use…. i just dont like how they BS us and tell us that its only 5% of subscribers that are without service… Try 50%

    I’m porting back to AT&T

    • David says:

I’m not telling you to not call customer service at all, I’m saying calling right now isn’t going to get you anything or anywhere other than more aggravation, T-mobile will decide how best to reimburse customers for their troubles but they aren’t going to be doing it while working first on restoring service

  42. ninjaofthenasty says:

this is the biggest cry baby site i have ever seen. i enjoy the news that this forum gives about my carrier, they do a great job, but i despise reading the comments left by a lot of whiny babies. oh, tmobile’s network down, im going to verizon, or tomobile needs to get better phones, get a better 3G network, blah blah blah. if tmobile is sooooo bad of a carrier, THEN WHY THE HELL ARE YOU STILL WITH THEM AND COMING ON THIS FORUM TO COMPLAIN ABOUT IT!!! leave, go to the almighty verizon or at&t, trust me, tmobile will not miss the 50 or so babies on this forum…. oh wait, you cant leave cause then you would break mommy and daddy’s contract and cost them an ETF and they will get mad :( . for some reason you people have not figured it out that you are not tmobile’s target audience. for all the people who want the greatest phones and the fastest network and so on, that’s not what they are after, they are after the everyday american who just wants good cell phone service at a good price and not feel like they are getting jipped out of thier service by high cost plans and poor customer service. thats why they dont spend all the money to buy all the high end phones cause the average user doesnt need it. get over it and if your so unhappy then leave and let us, who enjoy this forum converse without all the crying. oh, and by the way, verizon has had outages, we all know at&t is just a big outage and i know sprint has had outages cause i worked for them for 4 years. grow up, tmobile will fix it and life will go on.

  43. Jesse says:

its not the smart phones i have one on my work phone and works perfect

  44. Carl says:

    People, people
    ninja very good point!
People complain about ONE outage, that hasn’t even gone beyond one day, when other carriers have had multiple outages, I’m sure their customers complain, but anyway…
It must really suck to be a T-Mobile Customer Rep right now, I’m sure a lot of their patience is running thin.

@James have fun on with AT&T, I’ll be laughing when our EDGE speeds are beating your 3G speeds, and oh yeah paying x2 for the same service.

  45. Viper says:

@David and those wishing to call customer care

From engadget comments (I like this):
“I bet they’re getting customer service calls up the ass right now. NON-STOP calls of people saying, “WTF’S GOIN ON?!” I’m not even gonna bother. shit it’s not like they’re gonna say “You know what…. I think it was this… yuuuuupp YUP yup yup. Some fool flipped this light switch off in the break room CLEARLY MARKED, DO NOT FLIP, and turned the whole damn network off. Can you believe that? And if you hadn’t of called then T-Mobile’s network would still be down cause I wouldn’t have seen this light switched marked DO NOT FLIP just sittin here behind this coffee maker.”"

  46. dave says:

still no luck with uma nor my tmobie @home. i can receive calls on the @home but i cant call out. thank god for google voice so i can text friends and make calls

  47. Jesse says:

Ok for you dumb ppl out there T-MOBILE IS A GERMAN COMPANY AND THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY SERVICE TOWERS HERE IN USA THEY PIGGY BACK OFF ATT TOWERS THE DIFF IS ATT TELLS T_MOBILE WHAT SERVICE AREA THEY CAN HAVE AND THEN IF THEY WANT IT THEY BUY THE SERVICE FOR THERE TOWERS SO PLEASE ANYONE THINKIN T_MOBILE IS BETTER THEN ATT UR WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS GET UR SHIT STRAIGHT

  48. ROY says:

GREENVILLE ALABAMA IS DOWN BEEN DOWN SINCE ABOUT 5pm CST

  49. Pritpaul says:

I have had no service at all (voice, data, or text… phone just has no signal) since 5:45pm. Still not back up.

Oh and Jesse, you have no idea what you’re talking about. It’s true that Deutsche Telekom owns T-Mobile, but T-Mobile has their own US towers.

BIG DEAL!!!!!! im still alive! My pulse is still beating just as strong. if you are a loyal t-mo customer like you are claiming to be, then you can hold your horses for half a day and then move on with your life. SHEESH!
