Is Verizon Single-handedly Responsible For Androids Success?

In the midst of yesterdays Verizon LTE announcement, a little ego showed on behalf of Verizon as they proclaimed themselves responsible for the success of Android. “Android really took off when Verizon got involved” is the direct quote from Verizon CTO Tony Melone and comes off pretty matter of fact. T-Mobile was the first carrier to launch Android in the US with the G1 but can Verizon really take credit for Androids current success? T-Mobile has … [read full article]

T-Mobile HD7 Next Victim Of “Antennagate”?

Reports are coming in that T-Mobile HD7 owners are experiencing similar reception issues to the iPhone 4 when holding their handsets in the “death grip” position. As represented in the YouTube video above, simply gripping the HTC HD7 in the hand firmly, drops the reception from four bars to one bar. While it isn’t nearly as bad as the iPhone 4, it does raise some eyebrows. The issue doesn’t seem to affect HD7 owners in good coverage … [read full article]

Samsung Nexus S Hits FCC Again With New Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS Antennas

Nothing terribly exciting in this round of the Nexus S news cycle but Engadget discovered a new Samsung Nexus S filing to the FCC. Running under the Samsung GT-i9020T model, the filing lends a little more credence to the release date being sooner rather than later. The real question is, were these additions the cause of the rumored delay or is there something else we don’t know? Engadget

T-Mobile.com is looking to get in on the Cyber Monday fun by offering up the T-Mobile G2 free for new customers.  While this is a great deal for new customers, I would have hoped that the carriers, T-Mobile included would be offering up something a little more along the lines of, a smorgasbord of sales. Offering just one or two devices is hardly exciting, although nobody will complain about saving $199.99. Still, I would have liked … [read full article]

Acer’s Smartphone Unit President Aymar de Lencquesaing says that since the Acer Liquid Metal is a GSM phone and there are only two GSM carriers in the U.S., it is up to them to decide whether they want to add the handset to their lineup.
