T-Mobile today officially announced that both of its upcoming LG phones will be available to buy from February 5th. Both the LG G Flex and Optimus F3Q will be released on the same day. CIRP: Jump early upgrade plan helping T-Mobile keep “a much higher percentage of customers than the other carriers”

A report from CIRP (Consumer Intelligence Research) suggests that of all the Uncarrier phases working best, it’s Jump! giving T-Mobile the edge over its competitors. Combined with the separation of airtime and phone costs, it’s helping Tmo keep hold of its customers, and attract more from other carriers. As a result, T-Mobile is keeping hold of a far higher percentage of its current customers than any other carrier, while simultaneously, attracting more from other carriers than are … [read full article]

LG G2 dropped to $499, some upgrade customers seeing it at $403?

This might just be one of the bargains of the century so far for T-Mobile users. If you head on over to the LG G2 product page, you’ll spot the price has dropped from $600 to $499.20. On EIP, that’s $0 down and 24 monthly payments of $20.80. So, that’s a high-end “phablet” for the same price as a “regular” smartphone. But that’s not all, one of our readers has been keeping a keen eye on the … [read full article]

Legere okay with Sprint/T-Mobile merger as long as he’s in charge?

John Legere has become one of the most prominent figures in the wireless industry since taking over at T-Mobile around 16 months ago. Thanks to his style, demeanor and business approach, he – and T-Mobile with him – has become unavoidable. Whether or not its just a public persona for the sole purpose of personifying T-Mobile’s new-found Maverick brand will be argued for a while yet. In an interview with NPR a couple of days ago, he … [read full article]

Uncarrier movement extends to personal finance with Mobile Money by T-Mobile

Late last night, T-Mobile announced that its Uncarrier philosophy would extend and reach in to the world of personal finance. Seemingly, Magenta feels the same way about overdraft and monthly maintenance fees as it does about contracts in the smartphone market. According to a survey done by Bankrate in 2013, those fees hit a record high and T-Mobile has launched a service to help consumers get a better handle on their money. Mobile Money by T-Mobile is … [read full article]

Uncarrier 4.0 working? AT&T’s latest move would suggest so

John Legere might get some stick online for the way he continuously aims jibes at AT&T, but the carrier makes it difficult to resist. Last year, it responded to T-Mobile’s Uncarrier phases almost every time with what was normally a pale imitation promotion. Even before Uncarrier 4.0 happened (after we’d published a rumor regarding “Houdini”) AT&T’s knee-jerk response was to offer … [read full article]

CWA: Sprint/T-mobile merger would be bad for consumers and workers

If there’s one hot topic in the world of U.S. carriers right now, it’s the rumored takeover of T-Mobile by Japanese carrier, Softbank. Only last year, the company bought a controlling stake in Sprint. And if speculation is to be believed, it’s got its focussed aimed squarely at T-Mobile, currently owned by Deutsche Telekom (mostly). Today, the CWA – or Communications Workers of America – spoke out about the deal, believing it would be a terrible move … [read full article]

T-Mobile value back up to AT&T deal level according to DT chief

Deutsche Telekom’s newly appointed CEO, Timotheus Hoettges took part in an interview with Bloomberg today in which he discussed a handful of topics. For the most part, Hoettges speaks of T-Mobile’s achievements in the US market. Stating that he is “fairly proud — together with all those involved — of what we created there.”  Back in 2011, AT&T had attempted to buy out T-Mobile for around $39 billion from Deutsche Telekom. After the deal went south, Tmo’s … [read full article]

T-Mobile leading the way in customer monthly spend

According to a survey released by Cowen and Company yesterday (picked up by Ars), T-Mobile has the lowest average bill size when compared to the other 3 major nationwide carriers. Including taxes, fees and the rest, Tmo’s average user monthly spend is $120. Compare that to the others and it’s a pretty huge saving. AT&T customers spend around $141, Sprint customers cough up $144 each month and Verizon subscribers are the most out of pocket with monthly … [read full article]
