If you’re interested in foldable phones, you’ll get your chance to be an early adopter of this new form factor when the Samsung Galaxy Fold launches at T-Mobile later this month.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold will be available online from T-Mobile starting at 9:00pm PT on April 25th and in select T-Mobile stores on April 26th. T-Mo doesn’t have any pricing details to share today, but Samsung previously said that the Galaxy Fold will cost $1,980.

Samsung’s Galaxy Fold is a foldable Android phone with a 4.6-inch 1960×840 Super AMOLED display on the outside and a 7.3-inch 2152×1536 Super AMOLED screen when unfolded. It’s also equipped with a total of six cameras, including a 10MP selfie camera on the cover above the small display; a 16MP ultra wide angle camera, 12MP wide angle camera with Super Speed Dual Pixel AF, and a 12MP telephoto camera with 2x zoom on the back of the phone; and a 10MP selfie camera plus an 8MP RGB depth camera inside the device above the large display.

The high-end specs of the Galaxy Fold don’t stop there, as it’s also packing a whopping 12GB of RAM and 512GB of built-in storage. It’s got an octa-core processor inside its shell, too, along with a 4380mAh battery with fast charging support for both wired and wireless charging.

When it comes to T-Mobile, the Galaxy Fold will support 600MHz LTE as well as LTE Advanced technologies like 256 QAM and carrier aggregation. T-Mo also notes that customers who buy a Galaxy Fold will get a free carbon fiber case and Galaxy Buds truly wireless earbuds.

So now that we know the Galaxy Fold is landing at T-Mobile in a couple of weeks, what do you think of it? Does the thought of owning one of the first foldable display smartphones on the market have you thinking about buying the Galaxy Fold?

    S10 + 256gb sd card ~$1030 w/ tax.
    S4 tablet + 256gb sd card ~$600 w/ tax.
$600 left to buy a Panasonic ZS100 large sensor compact zoom camera to compliment the S10….that’ll be a pass on a $2,000 phone.

  • Nionx

Does anyone know the EIP on the device?

    • Cameron West

Well, EIP in iPhone XS is $31.25/month with $250 down payment and this phone is double the price of that… so… $62.50/month with a $500/down payment? Just a guess…

      • Nionx

Makes sense and I thought the same until I spoke with a tmobile worker. That estimated sound $1000 down. I must want exact figures

    • Me

Expect $500 down and $42 / month for 36 months.

      • Nionx

That actually sounds about right. I wouldn’t be mad if those were the actual numbers.

        • Me

TMO’s new 36 mo financing option is for devices just like this. 24 months just doesn’t look as attractive as an offer IMO. Other carriers may follow suit too on this kind of term.

        • Nionx

Agreed. Plus the fact that you can pay off the devices earlier means you are not locked into the 3 year plan. This is honestly the first device I even considered the 3 year financing option for.

      • JT

There is no more 36 months EIP

        • Greg Dalin

there is 36 month EIP on select phones

    • skywalkr2

Too bad in 3 years this phone will look very dated.

      • Nionx

There is a certain charm to a classic. Dated it will be, but to have it and compare and contrast to what will be the current tech will be a beautiful thing.

  • Bryck

I would never pay that kind of money for a “gimmick” decice.

    • Nionx

I wouldn’t call it a gimmick, but yeah for it is its pricey.

    • Darryl Woodbury

I wouldn’t necessarily call it a gimmick device, but I’m not paying $2,000 for a foldable phone. Also, it’s nice to see a fellow Mets fan! Let’s go Mets!

    • OnePlus6t IsBoss

      You sound like an idiot.

  • JayBEE

No headphone jack+No SD card slot=No buy for me

    • Nionx

It’s definitely not a device you buy for your primary device. You buy as the special occasion device. The little black designer dress or diamond encrusted cuff links of the mobile world. This device certainly makes more sense than those special edition phones that carry price tag equivalent or more for a extra bling on the back.

      • OnePlus6t IsBoss

This is a primary day to day device definitely but luxury.

        • Nionx

Agree to disagree. For me a primary, day to day must not have any compromises. It must be the Jack of all trades devices that handles any and all situation without hardware or, for the most part, software limitations. I’ve seen the Galaxy Fold, held it in my hands and will definitely get one, but the lack of headphone Jack and IP rating of any kind makes it a secondary. My Note 8 is my primary daily driver. Water proof, S-pen, DeX, expandable storage, headphones Jack. There is virtually nothing in the mobile space the current Note series can not handle. In my humble opinion of course.

    • SirStephenH

It comes with a half a terabyte of storage. Do you really need more?

      • JayBEE

For me it’s not a matter of wanting or needing more storage, simply having the ability to pop a SD card slot when needed.

        • OnePlus6t IsBoss

Poor guy ZTE handsets can’t go past 128sdcards

    • OnePlus6t IsBoss

You couldn’t afford it anyway you financial losers are the Bain of Android.

      • JayBEE

lol, financial loser, lol, couldn’t afford it, lol, good ones. I won’t shell out any of my $$$ with the first Galaxy Fold, I’ll wait and see what happens with the next one and of course the upcoming Note 10. I’m happy for now with my Note 9.

        • OnePlus6t IsBoss

Yeah sure broke loser bums are always perpetrating a sad fraud financially.

ZTE dude from the gas station can’t lie here this isn’t Google plus anymore.

Get a job loser you don’t own any Note9, or anything Samsung makes you are a ZTE bum.

        • JayBEE

Okay, you got me, I’m a ZTE bum. *cries*

  • Francisco Peña

If you are whining about the price and saying you won’t buy it, that’s ok, as this isn’t marketed to you anyways.

    • marque2

Yeah but say it were 1/3 the price – I am still not certain I would want or need it. Seems like a nifty feature in search of a need. Not that others don’t do this LG G8 is a nice more affordable phone but other than the fee whiz factor the vein ID seems a bit unnecessary.

    • Chops

Can I wine about no s-pen support

      • Francisco Peña

no, you can’t wine about it because you might ruin it. now if you want, you can whine about it.

    • Jay Holm

It is a first generation product, very, very advanced technology, that reauired a lot of R & D to bring to market. . .I understand the price .

  • SirStephenH

$2000 for a gimmicky phone!? Mobile device pricing is really getting out of hand

    • Acdc1a

There’s a lot of good value to be had out there and people will eventually start realizing it when they turn away from $1,000+ phones. Got my $249 G7 Power and I couldn’t be happier.

      • skywalkr2

The mid / lower-mid tier right now is amazing.

        • Acdc1a

I gave my Z3 Play to the Mrs. to replace her iPhone 6. Her first crack at Android since the Galaxy S2. It’s another really good option.

      • Website Administrator

I agree. My OnePlus 6T only cost about $600 and it’s honestly the best phone I’ve ever had.

      • OnePlus6t IsBoss

Sound like you need to get a real job there is a value in how you live life. It’s sad when you can’t afford quality and you live life making sad excuses unnecessarily. Stop embarrassing yourself online with the useless life you live.

        • Acdc1a

If you need a phone to fulfill you, life advice is something you shouldn’t be providing.

        • OnePlus6t IsBoss

Truth hurts doesn’t it your life is a sad broke joke and you can’t face reality we laugh at your pathetic types in society.

    • skywalkr2

      Early adopters pay for R&D

    • OnePlus6t IsBoss

Another guy with no value or job in life. The gimmick is your pathetic existence in today’s society find a real life where a legitimate income is part of it.

  • The Borg

I guess everybody has to have something to waist their money on

  • riverhorse

You’ll need to get a part-time at the escort agency to buy it, then obtain an open carry gun permit to use it in public.

  • Goober

So this is why my S10+ Flamingo Pink hasn’t shipped yet… I better pre-order now to ensure I receive my device months after release day because that’s how pre-orders work, right? /s

  • OnePlus6t IsBoss

I crack up at you non buyers talking online like idiots. True Galaxy Note users buy the the Note product because of the abilities of the Spen that’s what had kept use buying since 2011.

  • OnePlus6t IsBoss

#GalaxyFold will be joining my industry leading Note9, OnePlus6t, and Revvl2Plus at home base on April 26th.
