Moto G7 Plus may be coming to T-Mobile

Motorola has already confirmed that the Moto G7 Power is coming to T-Mobile, but that may not be the only Moto G7 variant headed for T-Mo’s shelves.

The Moto G7 Plus may also launch at T-Mobile. A Motorola device with the model number XT1965-T was recently spotted in the FCC, and it includes references to T-Mobile in the documents. The name “Moto G7 Plus” is nowhere to be found, but the model number XT1965 does match up with the Moto G7 Plus. What’s more, Reddit user cstark notes that the IMEI listed in this FCC filing will get you a device named “Lake”, which is the Moto G7 Plus’s codename.

Meanwhile, the Moto G7 Power carries the model number XT1955 and the codename “Ocean”.

The specs for the Moto G7 Plus include a 6.2-inch 2270×1080 display with a waterdrop notch and a 12MP front-facing camera. Around back is a dual rear camera setup with a 16MP camera that includes optical image stabilization and a 5MP depth camera to help you capture photos with blurry backgrounds. Inside the water repellent shell is a 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 636 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a microSD card slot.

Rounding out the Moto G7 Power’s spec list is a rear fingerprint reader, a 3000mAh battery, a USB-C port for charging, and fast charging support. There’s a 3.5mm headphone jack on there, too, and stereo speakers for those times when you don’t want to use headphones.

Neither Motorola nor T-Mobile have made any official announcements about a Moto G7 Plus launch, but this FCC entry does seem to hint that a release is in their plans. Stay tuned for more on this as it becomes available.

G7 Plus has stereo speakers??? OK, now, that’s interesting.

Interesting that it supports both T-Mobile LTE bands and 3G/2G GSM, AND it also supports Sprint LTE and 3G/2G CDMA….
Are they preparing for the merger to go through by making sure their phones are interoperable on both networks?

    • Sharti24

CDMA will be shutdown just like it was when metro merged with tmobile

      • marque2

CDMA is on the way out anyway. GSM won and Qualcomm couldn’t keep up. 4g and 5g are extensions of GSM.

Weak processor is likely why I didn’t even notice the Power. And since these aren’t compatible with the 5G attachment I want, they leave much to be desired. One day we’ll be able to get everything Verizon does.

I have a G5 plus and it’s power is just fine. Only issue I had was that even though it was supported for some reason VOIP didn’t work – which is a problem if your temporary apartment has no TMobile signal.

      • steveb944

VOIP has always been an issue on BYOD. It’s hit or miss.
If that ever happens again just get a free signal booster.

        • marque2

Alas they only give you one. I use the booster at my primary residence for the wife and kids. My remote work apartments must suffer. Though that was the only apartment ever where I had a problem. Now I check signal before I rent and do a speed test.

    It’s G7 with B71 and NFC
Currently G7 is listed as one of the best selling midrange phone

  • marque2

Moto G series phones are very good mid range phones. They also do an incredible job with gestures – once you train yourself. Shake the phone one way and the flashlight turns on – that is pretty useful – shake another and the camera comes on. There are a few others.

This is definitely a better deal than the E phones they tried to sell is this year. Moto tends to be a bit behind with the new bands though.

Ok. G7+ hits ALL the minimums for a mid-tier. 6¼”, HD, NFC, 64&4gb, all TMO bands.
They’re only minimums, but at least NOTHING is missing.
Hope it goes to Metro as well.
    Anyone care to guess pricing? ¿$299 TMO / $249 METRO? ¿Tops $350?

    • riverhorse

Over $400 One Plus becomes the better option.

Maybe typo in next to last paragraph? “Power” should be “Plus”.
