T-Mobile Galaxy Note 9 will begin getting Android Pie update today

Following the T-Mobile Galaxy S9 and S9+ getting Android Pie a couple of weeks ago, it’s now the Galaxy Note 9’s turn to get a piece of Pie.

T-Mobile has updated its Galaxy Note 9 support page to show that the Android 9.0 Pie update will begin rolling out today, March 1st. The update is version N960U1UEU1CSB3 and is 1671.6MB in size.

In addition to Android 9.0 Pie, Galaxy Note 9 customers can expect Samsung’s new One UI user interface. It includes an updated look that moves interactive elements toward the bottom of the screen so they’re easier to reach, which should be especially useful on the Note 9 and its 6.4-inch screen. Samsung has added a night mode to its One UI as well.

Also included in this update is a new e911 call flow, says T-Mobile, along with a compass calibration fix and a BYOD update.

T-Mo does say on its Note 9 support page that the update “will not be available to all customers right away”, so it may take a few days to make its way to your phone. If you’d like, you can manually check for the update by going into Settings > Software update > Download updates manually. Be sure to let us know when your T-Mobile Galaxy Note 9 gets its Android Pie update!

Nothing here yet for me either

Nada. But I figured they would be announcing it today. I wonder if this will also include the RCS update?

  • Probablynot

I did the firmware science update weeks ago…sounds like you have to revert with Odin for this to show up (once it’s fully live). Sigh.

    • Omegajb

I did the same. Wouldn’t we be able to install this version on a SD card and flash like the beta? The key will be getting the new ROM.

  • J.J.

Unlocked note 9 here who participated in the beta. We are still stuck on dec 1 security patch with no final version in sight and only canned respondes from the beta team. I for one will likely never participate in another Samsung beta.

I wasn’t on the beta but still on December update.

      • J.J.

Unfortunate but appears all unlocked phones must wait… I just thought common courtesy would be to give the people who shaped the software first dibs!

I wasn’t on the beta either also unlocked I hope I get this update

Mmmmmm…no Android Pie for the LG G7?

    Nothing yet for San Diego.

Very strange the build number is one for the US Unlocked version.
It wouldn’t surprise me if this update is delayed, not like it’d be the 1st time an update from T-Mobile wasn’t ready for prime time.

  • Sean Xu

    Its available for download now

  • TmoRepNLovingIt

Wasn’t available until after 1am EST. Downloading now finally!!!

Looks like T-Mobile is letting flood gates open mine just updated

  • Txawj Vam Vaj

I notice I can’t record in 4k after the update anymore, does anybody know how.

    • johnnyxlayer

U have to go into the setting and change it there’s plenty of videos on YouTube about it

      • Txawj Vam Vaj

Thanks I found it, they should have make it more easyer to get to.

Now I have to figure out how to restore the vertical scrolling cards in recently used apps. The horizontal orientation is more time consuming.

    • g2a5b0e

Pretty sure it’s a permanent fixture in the new Samsung UI. You probably won’t be able to do anything about it short of downloading a custom launcher.

      • Yonatan Ben Magen

DL the update and backed up all my notes and stuff. Using a custom theme.

I use fixed vertical no scrolling – but battery life after last security update is crap. Headed out of the country for three weeks and sounds like new update may have a slight learning curve so not so sure I want to update – but the new dark UI is tempting – going to have to do more research 1st I guess.

        Horizontal scrolling sounds like crap.

        • the martian ambassador

My battery life seems good after the update. I’m just using the optimized setting. Went for a 2 hour walk yesterday and was streaming music the whole time and when I got home the battery was at 95%, so that’s fine.

    • Yonatan Ben Magen

Playing with it on DW S9+ while I tend to end up with lots of recent apps, while I prefer a Vertical stack not carousel – I do like the flick to discard over accidental opening when trying to click on the tiny X.

So it may grow on me – I do prefer the horizontal scrolling on many Roku channels (Nflx, Amazon, etc ) over the vertical of Hulu channel.

This new build lifts a lot of things from iOS. It will take some getting used to.

    • rosedawg

I wish I would have known that before installing it, I hate this new look.

Anyone update their Note 9 with any issues? My issue is I can’t see yhe names in my contacts list. The background is white as the names are as well. Makes it very hard to see or if even see it at all. Anyone have this issue? Ot know anyone that does? Or if anyone knows of a fix for that? Thanks

Other than that, all else is great.

    • the martian ambassador

After I installed the update, the icons on the pull down menu were white with light gray text and I could not read them without my glasses on. It turns out that the theme that I had been using was the issue. I installed a high contrast theme and it fixed the problem.

  • Yonatan Ben Magen

Sounds like a crap shoot – Read some problems post update can be fixed with a factory reset – Who’s got time for that -I have too many banks and credit cards and other accounts that don’t have a day to waste setting back up after reinstalling and setting back up -even with smart switch and backups.

    • johnnyxlayer

That’s what Samsung pass is for so u can save all ur passwords

      • Yonatan Ben Magen

Have it, an use it – still a major PITA. Have a lot of Banks, CU, investment, retirement, MMA accounts as well as Credit cards for both Business and Personal, then Reauthorization with Samsung Pay as well as Gear S3 Sam Pay.

Even with Samsung Pass it’s far from simple even adding a new/another fingerprint is a PITA.

Once I upgrade, anything that has to do with audio recording app when making calls will not work anymore. Sad!

  • rosedawg

I really regret installing this update. And to top it off just to eff with me, they moved the time in the status bar from the right side of the screen to the left!

  • Bemi

It’s been pretty good for me. Just my Amazon Flex app has been acting up. Other than that it actually feels like a new phone. Been a while since an update has actually done that.Learning something new everyday.

  • Anyone know when the T-mobile Note 8 One Ui update will be released?

  • Bryan Ott

Loving it personally, had some issues at first but T-Mo has since updated an app or two I needed and now everything is great!

  • Yonatan Ben Magen

Played a little with Pie on wife’s S9+ reminds me a little of Marshmallow on the S5. Daughter installed Pie on her Note 9 overnight (letting her be the Guinea pig).

    Still slightly reluctant to upgrade
