T-Mobile today spilled a little more info about its 5G plans.

T-Mobile CTO Neville Ray has confirmed that it’ll carry the same 5G Samsung smartphone that AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon recently said that they would offer in the first half of 2019. “T-Mobile is working on that phone too — and other 5G devices with other OEMs and chipset manufacturers,” Ray said. He went on to tease that T-Mo will have multiple 5G devices that work across multiple spectrum bands in 2019.

Details on the upcoming 5G Samsung phone are light, but it’s expected that the device is a variant of the Galaxy S10. Samsung’s Galaxy S flagships are typically released across all major carriers, and rumors have suggested that a 5G version of the Galaxy S10 is in the works.

We recently heard that the Snapdragon X50 modem that’ll likely be used in this 5G Samsung phone will support millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum, but not the 600MHz spectrum that T-Mobile also plans to use for its 5G network. That means that if you want to be one of the first on T-Mo’s 5G coverage with this 5G Samsung phone, you may be limited to the mmWave coverage. PCMag says that Qualcomm will likely intro a 5G chipset with 600MHz support in February, and Ray says that T-Mobile will have multiple 5G devices that work across multiple spectrum bands in 2019, so those that wait until later next year to get a 5G phone will likely get a device that’ll work with both T-Mo’s mmWave and 600MHz 5G coverage.
