T-Mobile Galaxy S8 and S8+ now getting security updates

UPDATE: Looks like the Galaxy Note 8 is receiving an update, too. TmoNews reader TR got an update to version N950USQU5CRG7 that includes the July 1, 2018 Android security patches.

UPDATE 2: T-Mobile has posted its info on these updates, and all three include a Samsung VOC fix in addition to their security patches.

A couple of days after T-Mobile’s Galaxy S9 and S9+ began receiving new software updates, it’s time for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ to be updated.

T-Mobile is now updating its Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The updates are now going out over the air, so you should see ’em on your phones in the coming days. You can also check for them manually by going into Settings > Software update > Download updates manually.

As for what’s included in these updates, both phones are receiving the July 1, 2018 Android security patches. T-Mobile hasn’t updated its support pages for the S8 and S8+ as of this post, so it’s unclear what other features might be included.

Let us know when your Galaxy S8 or S8+ gets its update!

Thanks, Maciej, Michael, SEBA, TR. and Bryan!

Just got my Note 8 update, sad that it doesn’t even include the August security update. I feel like Samsung is just giving me reasons to end my Note string of phones, rather than continue.

You sound surprised, but the update in the article literally says that it includes the July security update. You made this comment after that happened, so perhaps you should read through the article before posting?
