T-Mobile Galaxy S9 and S9+ updates bring August security patches

One week after their last updates, the T-Mobile Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are being updated again.

T-Mobile is updating its Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ to version G960USQS3ARG8 and G965USQS3ARG8, respectively. T-Mo hasn’t updated its support pages quite yet, so the full changelogs aren’t yet known, but we do know that they include the August 1, 2018 Android security patches.

These updates are now going out over the air, and TmoNews readers Mitchell and Nate received them today. If you’ve got a Galaxy S9 or S9+, your phone’s update should appear in the coming days. You can also check for your update manually by going into Settings > Software update > Download updates manually.

Thanks, Mitchell and Nate!

For some reason there’s no auto updating

I don’t get why people say Samusng doesn’t update their phones enough. This is now the 6th update for S9/S9+ since they were released about 5 months ago. No they’re not on 8.1 and certainly not 9 yet but what are we really missing. Samsung already has new features before Google does on Pixel devices.

8.1 was really more for the pixel 2 device than all Android devices

Because they announced their Android 8 update roadmap the day after Android 9 was released for Pixels and partnered phones. Out of every manufacturer, Samsung lags behind due to their bloated system. Where it takes Samsung 7-18 months to push out major updates on flagships, others push it out between 2 hours-3 months.

      -Typed on my Galaxy S9+.

Um the S8 was updated to 8 in March and the S9 came with 8…Also, the last few years Samsung flagships have got the latest Android Beta version two months after it came out. The S7 and S8 got the Beta around October and o expect S9 to get Andriod Pie beta around that time as well

As always unlocked version we have to wait longer.

  • Had 2 updates this week lol

Off subject, but pertains to the s9 Plus. With the arrival of the Note 9, when should we expect a price cut on the s9 Plus?

So just noticed today, whenever I record a video in 4k 60fps it will save it to internal storage. It didn’t use to do this. Was this changed in the last update and why did they do this? I have a lot more storage on my sd card and can’t even use it.
