LG G Pad X2 8.0 Plus now available, includes Plus Pack with stereo speaker and extended battery

Remember the LG G Pad X2 8.0 Plus that leaked out earlier this month? Well today T-Mobile quietly added the Android tablet to its online store.

The LG G Pad X2 8.0 Plus is now available from T-Mobile at a price of $0 down and $10 per month for 24 months. That works out to a total price of $240.

In exchange for your hard-earned dollars, you’ll get an Android 7.0 Nougat tablet with an 8-inch 1920×1200 display, 5-megapixel front and rear cameras, and 32GB of built-in storage as well as a microSD slot if you need more storage. Also included is an octa-core Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 2,900mAh battery. The G Pad X2 8.0 Plus supports LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 12, and 66.

Perhaps the most notable feature of the LG G Pad X2 8.0 Plus is the G Pad Plus Pack that’s included with the tablet. It’s got a full-size USB port, a 4,400mAh battery to greatly extend your battery life, and both a kickstand and stereo speakers to improve your on-the-go entertainment experience.

We don’t see a ton of new Android tablets come to market anymore, so it’s good to see LG and T-Mobile team up to offer the G Pad X2 8.0 Plus for those folks that like Android slates. If that’s you, this LG G Pad X2 8.0 Plus seems like a nice option, especially for folks that like to consume content on the go.

Make this a phablet instead please.

    • Cole

      8 inch phone… SMH

      • riverhorse

Yes… A bezel-less 7-8″ phablet to fit into cargo pant / coat pocket.
Presto! Only one gadget to schlep + no purse/briefcase.

Ideally… a Chuwi Win/Android contraption with LTE sim + Dialer.

Ever hear if the LG V30? It’s six beautiful inches of screen…

        Newsflash: 8-6=?…*answer below

PS V30 no removable battery, IR, QC3 only, 4/64gb only, 6″ only… I’d much rather buy refurbished previous model than “this latest and most improved flagship”.

      or a Tablet works too

  • Alex Pilaia

Will there be a free tablet deal???

    • Bklynman

Yes there is,with G6 and V20, bogo offer, the same as all Tmo free tablet deals, have to get $10.00 data plan, then get it refund back to you. You can either buy your choice of 2 G6,or 2 V20, I was going to do this, until I saw Note8 bogo offer, now with the New V30 coming out,I might wait to see if Tmo has Bogo offer with that phone.

Is this better than the Samsung Tab S2 8.0″ ?

    • DM725

  • gmo8492

This would be a bad purchase since it’s missing band 71. Most people don’t upgrade their tablet the same way as phone.

    • andreas hosemann

The average consumer doesn’t even know about band 71 only us techies do

    • DM725

What tablet in the world has band 71 or will have band 71 in the next 6 months? Are you serious? For $240 this is a great deal if you already have an unlimited LTE Data Line.

I just picked this up yesterday. Leaps and bounds better than the Gpad F8 that I had before. It’s a tablet you can actually use more than one app on. The dock is nice and the kickstand is very handy. The stereo speakers fire backwards, but it still sounds much better than the onboard one. With the dock attached it’s a little heavy to hold and watch video, but that’s to be expected.

I have the LG Gpad X8 and it’s still a solid device. My Samsung same price galaxy E8 devices sucks major ass.

  • Iphart

2,900mAh battery on this will probably last 3 hrs. max.
Should have been at least 4,000mAh.
The 10.1 version of this comes with 6000 mAh for $233 at Amazon and it is LTE.

  • moonoverparma

That battery is a total joke.

  • Philip

I got the Samsung Tab S2 9.7″ for $191 on ebay and its a “New other”. Better than this.

    • Bklynman

      Wifi only?

  • mingkee

    What a disappointment.
The screen looks muddy, and root is questionable as LG is anti developers

    • MattPortland

      The screen looks fine.

      • Bklynman

All I know is this, the only big names to makes tablets now Samsung,Lg. Moto, stop making them as soon as last one they make for big red. Toshiba,Acer,,etc, don’t make them any longer.(to my knowledge) Not sure about Sony, haven’t check deathstar site for a while,I know they were selling ZTE tablet, that got good reviews, but all is tmo is selling is under storage Samsung Tab E,which I don’t see any different in the Tab A they sold, they had few yrs back, and the over price Ipad. Between the Tab E and this,I will take this.More ram,32 gigs, plus the free stand speaker.

    • Joseph Guy

there’s nothing wrong with the screen it’s the same as the g pad x and i have that one, if the screen is an disappointment then hear is an idea stop looking at budget tablets people like you want high end specs on an budget tablet for cheap

    • MadMartigan

      “LG is anti developers”

It sucks that it came to that. The V10 had an unlockable bootloader and was dead-easy to modify – nearly the same process as a Nexus (fastboot oem unlock, fastboot flash recovery, etc…).

V20 suffered – bootloader was unlockable, but they disabled most of the fastboot commands. Broke everything and made it impossible to alter the recovery without exploiting an Android vulnerability.

Looks like they’re going to stick with it, unfortunately. Hopefully Oreo/Treble makes some of this easier. (Recovery being an AOSP, not OEM partition)

  • MattPortland

I’d consider this if they waived the SIM starter kit fee. I have SIM cards coming out of the yin-yang and I’ve been with T-Mobile since 2004. Throw me a bone T-Mobile.

  • Why is this just being announced? It’s been on the site for a long time..hmm.

  • SirStephenH

The best thing about this tablet is that it comes in black. That’s not much reason to ditch my ugly white and “gold” G Pad 8.0 though.
