T-Mobile planning Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge Buy One, Get One Free deal

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are now just four days away from hitting store shelves, and when they do launch, T-Mobile will have an offer ready to go along with them.

A source just sent in the image you see above, which reveals that T-Mobile will kick off a Buy One, Get One Free promo for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge on March 10. To qualify, you’ll need at least one new line of service, and one of the phones will need to be on that line. Both phones will need to be purchased on an Equipment Installment Plan, and you will have to pony up any taxes and down payment on the free device. There’s also a mention of a prepaid MasterCard mail-in rebate.

Some other tidbits worth noting about this deal include the limit of two free phones per account and the fact that employees aren’t eligible for the offer. Sorry, T-Mobile employees.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are two of the top-end smartphones on the market, and so being able to get one for free will be a pretty nice deal. Of course, you’ll need to find someone that wants to sign up for a new line to take advantage, but if you know someone looking for some new cell service, this could be a good way to get them (or you both) to join the Magenta side. With this offer expected to launch on March 11, we should hear more about it later this week, so stay tuned.

Thanks, Juárez75!

I wonder if thirst who got it early are eligible

  • I’d like to know if those that pre-ordered and received 1 can get the 2nd on the 11th?

  • Brian Richards

nevermind. Missed the new line requirement.

  • RLB63

for those asking if the early buyers can get a second one free, I doubt it. They got a bunch of freebies. So it’s very unlikely to get both…

    • Brian Richards

People cashing in this offer would be inside the 3/31 deadline for getting the netflix+gear vr. This is an extra bonus for opening a second line.

      • skywalkr2

Sales only through 3/18. 3/31 is only for submitting the promo.

        • Brian Richards

Yes, but they would have form the 11th to the 18th, so they should be able to do both I would think. Assuming they took what’s in stock rather than waiting for a shipment as that could be way past the 31st. I’m starting to wonder if I’m getting me pre-order. T-Mo confirms I won’t see it until AFTER the release date now so I may have been better off walking into a store Firday.

  • Will

What if I’m switching to T-Mobile? I don’t actually get both phones with one line, right?

    • DrakenFX

Switching = New Line so i bet you qualified

    • MadJoe

If you’re switching to T-Mo, you’d need to open 2 lines because they’re selling you 2 phones on EIP (can only have 1 EIP payment per line), and then rebating one of those phones with the MC gift card, which will probably take at least 2 billing cycles to arrive. So plan on paying at least 2 EIP payments on your “free” phone before getting your rebate.

      • Jordan

If they are doing a MIR for the phone, then just open the new line for a couple of months. That’s what I’m going to do if that’s the case. Have to pay 2-3 months of service is fine with me.

        • MadJoe

Agreed, but I really hate credit card based gift card rebates, but I don’t think I’m going to let that stop me.

  • leebrachi

I wonder if canceling an existing line and reopening a new one will work?

    • Nope. Because you have 90 days to total to reopen an existing line, lol. You will really need to do a completely new line of service.

    • DrakenFX

It will, new line + new number, I’ll be better if you do it at least 5 days before Promo kicks in, if this BOGO is true

    • Jordan

I think what you could do is this : Open a new line. Move the old line to MetroPCS. Do a port in to bring the old # into the new line. Someone who works for the company would have to confirm, but I do know that what J. Williams said is correct.

  • C Bell

Needs a new line, how carrier like of T-Mobile.

    • qmc

Yea, how terrible, not giving you a free phone for nothing.

      • C Bell

Well in the era of no contracts, it just distorts things (see the messages about cancelling or porting) and sends a very carrier message that existing customers are 2nd class customers.

        • Acdc1a

Really I’d rather everyone know what their phone costs. The $600+ flagship days should be long behind us.

  • Nancy

I am thinking you would need an existing line and then a new line that would need the second phone. Could they really give you two phones for one line? Or if you just are adding two lines maybe ?

    • MadJoe

If you’re an existing T-Mo customer, you only need to open 1 new line. The other phone would be attached to your existing line, which means you would need to use JUMP, pay off your current EIP or not have an EIP balance on that other line.

  • I’ll get this if they are doing it as actually FREE. Like the buy one get one iPhone promo, it was really half off on the second one no strings attached. So I’m hoping this one is cool too, I need to add a line anyway. I just don’t want to wait on monthly credits, I hate doing that. It’s not really free that way.

  • brybry

    nvm i guess 1 new line + 1 exisiting :)

    • MadJoe

No, just 1 new line. The other phone can be used on an existing line.

  • Shadowleo

Smh I already have 2 lines. I should be able to upgrade both and get this promo. Don’t need nor want to add another line of service… Might just have to cancel one since we own the phone and just reopen it…

    • skywalkr2

They are only offering this to get new lines *** MORE REVENUE***. IT wouldn’t be a financial smart decision to allow you to use two existing lines.

  • kookal123

Can’t you just cancel the line after the first month?

    • Robert

Was wondering the same thing. Sign up, get the rebate, pay off the phone, cancel the line. Profit?

      • kookal123

Exactly, doesn’t mention anything that wouldn’t allow you to do so.

    • Nancy

I have cancelled lines in very short periods of time. But you would have to read the fine print last years free tablet promotion you had to keep the line with data on it inorder to get the 7.00 per month credit that pays for the tablet

      • Robert

Sounds like this promo is a MIR though. If that’s the case, you would be able to get the card and then use it to pay off the device. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

  • iCrap

since i’m using google voice as my number now, i wonder if i can just add a line, get both phones, and then cancel one of the previously existing ones.

  • Bryant

    Already?!?! Selling that well, huh?

  • BillSmitty

Fock Tmo, how about a decent offer for existing clients like $$ off or a fast wireless charger. I want the phone, but the deals so far aren’t doing a thing to get me to part with my cash for the S7. If it held its value like an iPhone, then maybe, but this thing will be discounted better in a couple months. Guess I’ll keep waiting.

    • Dennis Mak

If you want the luxury to use the wireless charger, then pay up.

      • AA-Ron

you get a free one for signing up with Samsung pay. Not the fast wireless but it’s free.

        • Rachel Mullins Dillin

Thanks for the heads up. I just got this!

  • onstrike112

They’re such disappointments that they have to give the devices away. Sad.

    • yankeesusa

Yea, it’s so disappointing to get around 35mbps down on regular days and around 60 on good days. That sucks so much.

      • iCrap

i think he’s talking about the phones not the service

        • yankeesusa

If that’s the case then the good news is android has other choices. With ios, you are stuck with the same thing on every phone. I look at an iphone and the os looks identical on every single one. No customization at all. yes, they are stable and work decent but i like choices.

        • Bryant

I used to jailbreak my iPhone so i could customize the look, but got bored with it and like Apple’s better. I stick with the stock now. To each their own!

        • yankeesusa

The iphone is still a great phone. And i don’t mind it. But i prefer android. But i like all tech and i see no need to say one is better than the other. I will use either.

  • Drewzilla

Wow, that’s really good for… anyone other than loyal T-Mobile customers.

That’ll teach me. Maybe I should pick up one of their competitor’s promos. :P

    • AS118

If you get a good deal, you may want to consider it. Believe it or not, my family paid a little less on Verizon before we switched. I specifically switched to support T-mobile’s “uncarrier” movement.

The flip side is that we get more individual data, but having shared data wasn’t so bad, because we had that situation where 1 person needed a lot of data, but everyone else barely used any.

I like to switch carriers every now and then to get a better deal (promos for new people and switchers tend to be very goo) and to keep competition strong. I like T-mobile, but I have no particular loyalty to any 1 company.

  • gorilla

Requires a new line of service?
That doesn’t sound like uncarrier at all.

    • AS118

Well as they keep growing, I feel like they’re getting more confident, so are acting more carrier-y. Plus, they’ve never been very uncarrier in certain regards, like providing cheap but good phones that aren’t the G Stylo.

Too many of their $200-ish phones only have 8gb of storage, when it wouldn’t cost them much to give 16gb. I’m thinking they’re (correctly) concerned that it’d lead to reduced sales of their higher end phones.

That said, they should probably get with the program. Even selling a cheaper phone and making a profit is better than losing a sale to an unlocked phone off of Amazon, or losing a customer to AT&T.

      • Acdc1a

        Does T-Mobile manufacture the devices?

    • yankeesusa

How is that uncarrier? Are they going to give you a free phone just to do it? LOL.

      • gorilla

Just a simple buy one get one free or even buy one get one 50% off would do.

  • Jose Lugo

But I just got my s7 Edge grrrr. Now I’m thinking that I should have waited. Thank you T-Mobile grrrrrr

  • Joe

How is this even remotely fair to the people who preordered? I mean they couldn’t wait a couple months to do this deal? Only two weeks after preorders started? I would have jumped on this deal in a heartbeat because I have one more phone on my account that needs to be upgraded. Person is using a LG F3Q piece of crap phone that drops calls like crazy. I would have used the extra line for an emergency phone. It’s only an extra $8.00 a month for me with my discount. Damn it Tmobile. This is a d*ck move you just pulled.

    • Acdc1a

You haven’t learned not to pre-order yet? If you have to be the FIRST to get something, why complain when you don’t get a good deal?

      • Joe

How can someone learn that? I mean come on.

        • Acdc1a

Pretty easy lesson. Did you not watch pricing on the LG G4 and Galaxy S6? $100 price cuts within 90 days even more as time went on.

        • ikillflesh

I learned after I pre-ordered the g4, which I love..But was price chopped right after release and which is now 50% off the original price.
So… That’s how you can learn.

  • kev2684

Holy crap should I cancel my pre-order then? I was thinking of opening EIPs, pay them in full, close the line thereafter, then sell the other phone on ebay or something.

    • skywalkr2

Only if it would benefit you.

    • Nionx

I already got mine S7 edge but I think I’m going to return it, buy it back and get another one in a different color. Why pay for one when you get have two for the same price?!?

      • Fitnesspro

        Do it now.

  • 1sys

Guys, I think is also mentions both phones have to be on EIP, so how is the other phone free????

    • kev2684

      MIR = Mail-in Rebate Mastercard

    • Richard Vasquez

They give you a monthly credit for the eip of the free phone. The catch is in order to receive credit you cannot cancel line. Still a pretty sweet deal

      • ConceptVBS

Wrong. You pay for EIP for both phones. They send you a debit rebate card in a couple of weeks. So you are paying for the phone’s while you wait for the card to come.

  • Joe

Went to facebook and sent Tmobile a private message about this. They replied back and said they can’t comment on anything not official yet and sent me a link to their official news page. So no help there until this is made official.

  • Eric

Wow, they really must be pessimistic about the sales if they’re already offering deals. If this was an iphone, they’d jack UP, the price to get people interested. “Twice as much? Yeees, give me Two!”

Note 4 and lgg4 owner, but I’m being honest in how this looks. Which is bad.

  • Rachel Mullins Dillin

Well if this is true I’m irritated. I just got one, and I’d WAY rather have 2 for the same price. Plus, I just added a line a week ago too.

    • HotInEER

That happens. Just like sale prices, besides, you got 1 year of Netflix and a free VR, so it’s not like you didn’t get anything.

    • Fitnesspro

Rachel Dillon, your photo shows a beautiful face, however, evidently you have not heard W. Buffet’s advice: Impatient buyers are usually the losers. But listen. What about the 14 day window if you changed your mind. Most carriers will honor it. Perhaps, it is worth giving it a try. Damn. You are so good looking. Too bad, at 55 probably I am old enough to be your father.

      • Rachel Mullins Dillin

Guess what? I write technical user’s manuals, which is why I buy them early. I release books for people who need more details than the little included manual or who want it in a larger format.

  • Mike

Post release deals are almost always better and why I waited for Mar 11 to roll around. If you’ve seen the Samsung promos alone, you’d have realized that.

  • Manny

Why is it always a new line though? Well… I know why, I just know I would of loved that deal since my bro and I both want one.

    • kev2684

      padding their customer base :D

      • Vontae Everton

        What’s the MasterCard for

        • Noya

That’s how you get the money back. Pay for two new S7’s on your account, a few months later they send you a Mastercard with the $600 (or whatever the S7 costs) on it.

  • Fitnesspro

I am a Pure Android guy but I would not get a Galaxy even if it is free. I had three LEMON Galaxies in a row. I will wait for the new 4″ iPhone. I think it is cute. I use NEXUS 6P and iPhone 6+, however, came to hate the size of either one. So, I still use the legendary Nexus 5. It fits perfectly into my hand. That is Why, I like the idea of the 4″ iPhone with the A9 processor. What do you thing guys? Any comments???

    • brybry

what are you doing on a 6+ that you can’t do on a 5s ?

    • steveb944

I think you just had really bad luck. I hate Touchwiz but I’ll take a free one.
Why would you get phablets when you don’t like them due to size? Get the Nexus 5X.

    • srgonu

Don’t call yourself Pure Android guy if you like 4″ all bezel iPhone :)

    • Mario Martinez

4″ IPhone what are you 12.

    • Richard Vasquez

      Legendary nexus 5???

  • Jin

So is “adding a new line” mean I can add a new line to my existing family plan (which already has 5 lines) ? Or adding a new line means a separate completely new account? thx.

    • Chanki Lee

Adding a new line which has 5

  • steveb944

Exhibit A of a carrier move, loyal customers get cut out. I guess I could open a line for my dog…

  • jin

So I just called Tmobile, and they said there ‘s no such a Promotion, so I don’t think where ppl get this BOGO promotion from.

    • niftydl

Did you not read the part where it clearly says it “might” start March 11th? wtf.

  • kb

Never fear everyone. Magenta comes through!!! Phone rep said come in with receipt and they would honor the deal. See web site explination below.

    Q: I already bought a Samsung Galaxy S7 / Galaxy S7 edge. Can I get one free?

A: Yes. If you bought the first Samsung Galaxy S7 / Galaxy S7 edge on EIP, you may also purchase a second Galaxy S7 / Galaxy S7 edge on EIP, then add a line for that second device and, if you meet the requirements, you will be eligible for the rebate.

    • Santico Valenzuela

Do you know if you can just pay off the EIP whenever you want? I just wonder why they are stressing the EIP option.

  • Mike
  • Tmo slave

The MIR is for employee accounts . They don’t qualify for this promo but if they purchase between April 1-15 they will get a PPC with $350 dollars

  • Do you need to buy Two phones? Or can you just buy one on a new line and then get the rebate? I currently have 2 lines and will add a line then cancel it after the rebate arrives. The end net sum is to get a free phone.
