Costco offering $250 gift card with purchase of T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, S6 edge, or S6 edge+

If you’re thinking about treating yourself to a new smartphone this holiday season, you may want to check out Costco’s new promotion.

Costco today kicked off a promo that’ll give you a $250 Costco Cash Card when you buy a Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, or Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+. There seems to be some confusion about whether this offer only applies to new customers/lines or if upgrades count, too, with different folks apparently being told different stories by Costco reps. Some people that’ve taken advantage of the offer say that EIP and a Simple Choice plan are required, and we know that the promo will run through November 30.

Because Costco is a membership-only warehouse chain, you’ll need a Costco membership to buy a phone and take advantage of the promo. If you do have a membership, this looks like a pretty solid deal on Samsung’s range of 2015 flagship phones. They’ve got some of the best cameras you can get on an Android phone as well as some other pretty respectable features, and the $250 gift card that you’ll get represents a sizable chunk of these phones’ prices.

It’s also worth mentioning that you if you do buy a phone, you can get some extra goodies through a couple of Samsung promotions. Samsung is currently offering a choice of two accessory bundles to folks that buy a new Note 5, GS6, GS6 edge, or GS6 edge+ by December 13. And then there’s a Samsung Pay promo that’ll give a $50 rebate check to any T-Mobile Note 5, GS6, GS6 edge, or GS6 edge+ owner that signs up for Samsung Pay and registers at least 1 credit or debit card by December 31.

Look at Alex pumping out articles left and right over the past few days. The old saying “no news is good news” doesnt apply here! Keep up the good work Alex

    • Alex Wagner

      Thank you!

  • dcmtnbkr

Thanks for confirming this. I believe you also get a crappy accessory bundle from Costco too. Usually a car charger and a holster.

    • PiCASSiMO

No car charger, and no holster… just a 5,000mAh back-up battery.

      • dcmtnbkr

Thanks! Better deal in my opinion anyway

Got one this evening at my Chicago suburb Costco… $580 base price… full taxes up front and 24-payments of $24.17 with T-Mobile. $250 Cash Card will take about 12-weeks (3-months) but it’s okay… as net cost of this phone will be $380 with taxes, compared to $440 on the LG G4 with it’s promotion of $75 off.

    • David

what model did you get? I’m trying to find out price for S6.
New line? Or replace phone on an existing line?

      • PiCASSiMO

I got the S6. All Samsung phones are available at Costco. Just check the current T-Mobile pricing and you can calculate how much it will cost you.

        Say the Note 5 at $700 x taxes – $250 = net cost.

    • PiCASSiMO

So… Coming from a Nexus 5 (since launch), I’m not happy with my SGS6.

Coming from the Nexus 5, I can’t believe how sluggish/choppy this new phone is. I think because there are so many post-installed apps on it AFTER you get your phone setup. Maybe I have a bug or something, but either way I’m not exactly thrilled by this flagship device.

The worse part really is the home and capacitive buttons. First, the home button is large and requires a good amount of travel to engage. I know that it’s got a dual role of a finger print scanner, but it feels clunky. Secondly, the capacitive buttons are BACKWARDS. What the heck? I was use to using Google’s Nexus 4 since launch and the back, home, recent combo is something that is very difficult to adjust to. If all the industry has it one way, why be different?

So… aside from a few other clunky interface issues, I’m seriously considering returning this phone and buying the LG G4, or simply holding off for a better deal. I kind of regret not buying the $480 – $100 rebate a few weeks ago because I know I would be happier with the G4.

Why the SGS6 in the first place? I guess the $330 pre-tax price was my motivator but ultimately, I will wait for other black friday deals that occur in the next few days.

      • AS118

You might want to try the G4. LG has software buttons, and allow you to rearrange them as you see fit. They also use closer to a stock version of Android than Samsung.

I like their products, and think they’re gaining marketshare for a reason.

        • PiCASSiMO

Yes. Either the G4 or perhaps the Moto X PE.

        • Apple

Sounds like someone should of gotten a iPhone!

        • Andrew Singleton

iphone is probably the most sluggish of any major brand at this point, but sure definitely worth $650.

        • PiCASSiMO

I would consider the 6S+ if it were for no more than $500. But at $750 for the 16GB or $850 for the 64GB, it’s a little too much to pay for an apple logo.

        • George

I have owned a G4 for about a month, though it has great features the battery life is just awful and there are tons of software bugs. HTC will have the One M9 for 40% off soon and that when i’ll be giving the G4 to my wife.

        • PiCASSiMO

Have you tried simply replacing the battery to see if it would help?

Quite honestly, my Nexus 5 was also a battery hog, with every update that Google thrown at it, it would give me about 6-8 hours worth of casual use. I purchased a new battery for it, and it didn’t help even with the Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update.

        • George Salcedo

I had two different G4s and both had the same issue, overheating and battery drain. Maybe M will fix it but I’m close to being done with Android.

        • BKPhil

Switched from N5 to G4 a few weeks ago, and so far I’m happy. My battery life is great, regularly get home to 60% remaining, when on the N5 I’d be at 5% unless I charged up during the day.
Unlike others, have not encountered any notable bugs or lag (although N5 was arguably even smoother). I’m on a stock T-Mo model, but with some LG and T-Mo bloatware disabled, and with the Google Now launcher installed.
My main complaint with the G4 is size, but a) for my must-haves (massive storage and great camera) there’s little to choose from, and b) it’s manageable.
Others have reported different experiences with the G4, just wanted to share my experience.

        • nycplayboy78

          Or the Nexus 6P :)

        • cherazor65

Soft buttons are crap. They waste about 10% of the screen and sometimes they are there and sometimes not. Very confusing. Fingerprint sensor in back and not really working. Vol up/down can’t be accessed when talking with flip-cover.
BTW: 90% of the photos are way over-exposed and have wrong focus. Read reviews. Common complaint. Also no way to adjust photo resolution and image quality. LG is nice, but lacking lots of basic features. Just returned my V10.

  • Peter Smith

So this might make me finally get the Note 5. I can sure use that extra $250 at costco.

  • AngryBadger

I also got an extra 25 dollars on top of the 250.00. (tmo/costco loyalty promo apparently). plus that battery pack as well. edit: upgraded/jump 1.0 used.

    • TaekwonBo

Are you sure? I got 250 but it’s a combination of 225 plus the 25 loyalty for a total of 250. At least that’s what my rebate form said.

      • AngryBadger

whoops, guess i wasn’t paying much attention (was talking with another customer about his options with verizon and his legacy unlimited data plan). You are correct. Still a great deal though for anyone looking to upgrade.

  • Omar Cardenas

i was gonna get the edge + ,but my s6 edge is still runing like new .

  • Thatguy

I might have to go ahead and upgrade my note 4 to that note 5. Not bad deal

  • satish

I got the note 5 yesterday. Am existing Tmobile customer and have a simple choice plan. I tried to get the rebate form submitted today as instructed on the rebate form. I got a transaction error, and was told that based on the entry I am no longer eligible for the promotion.

This seems to be a scam or poorly implemented program since I was told that I am eligible by the wireless rep that I will get the rebate.

Sorry Samsung, I like the phone, but am not forking out $250 extra for this.
Going back to the store unless the customer service comes back honoring the offer, which is highly unlikely.

    • Andrew Singleton

Update this post with your resolution! Still haven’t found any concrete info!

    • cherazor65

Any update so far? Thank you!

    • Andy

      Any update? Thank You

  • Suk Magar

Costco in Missouri also saves you the taxes due to the way the registers work up front.

    • Andrew Singleton

there’s always federal sales tax at a physical POS. I’m confused.

      • Suk Magar

Costco processes the purchase using a series of rebate codes that drop the phone from full retail price down to the $0 down price when you purchase the phone. In Missouri, and a few other states, sales taxes are applied to the sale after all coupons and rebates are applied. Therefore 8% or whatever it is of $0 is always $0. Just a nice perk. Works for all financing plans at all Costco’s in Missouri as long as you buy the phone in store. :)

        • StevenM

TX is the same way. I know Costco collects taxes in LA.

  • evnow

Can you sign up for jump on demand at Costco ? The folks at Costco were very confused when adsked.

    • Suk Magar

  • bob95825

I am on a grandfathered plan. I tried to purchase one on EIP but the system kept giving this error: Anyone know what this is?

The system did not require changing plans but on the screen where they put in the amount to get EIP, it kept giving this error.

    • Suk Magar

Tell them to call Retail Support Line and process over phone.

      • bob95825

Thanks for the suggestion. RSL says they cannot add EIP on my plan.

I’m on a “Family Time 700” plan. I do get a lot of loyalty discounts.
        $50 for the plan.
$15 for my 5GB data with tethering
        $5 for 2nd line 2GB data
        $5 each additional add a line (3rd, 4th and 5th lines)
        $5 each for 2GB data for 3rd, 4th and 5th lines.

Total $100 for all 5 lines. Unlimited talktime, 2GB LTE data on 4 and 5GB LTE on one line.
Looking at the new plans, I am thinking I should just move to the new plan and get 2GB for everyone. It’ll still be $110 a month.

  • TaekwonBo

Seems like the deal is in store only. Although they have more phones online not all are available to purchase in store. Ex: I wanted the 64GB Gold Note 5 online but it’s not one that they stock or buy in bulk. I was told 64GB androids aren’t as popular as 64GB iPhones. They only carry 32GB androids and only black/white note 5’s. Some phones online get redirected to tmobile site to complete the purchase.

Now I do need to decide black or white. I just wanted gold so it stands out from the normal colors.

  • Thatguy

I upgraded to note 5. Got the white one, now waiting for my 250 from Costco.

    • thepanttherlady

Sorry, no buying/selling/trading or bartering on this site. If you’re selling your phone I suggest using Swappa, Ebay or Craigslist. Thank you.

      • guy

He’s not selling anything, learn to read.

        • thepanttherlady

Considering I edited the original comment I’d say I read perfectly fine.

But hey, Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

  • Gman

So, I signed up for this yesterday at Costco and was on an old T-mo “Select Choice” plan and EIP all seemed to go well and the representative said I would qualify for the rebate. I looked at the paperwork for the rebate and it says “Simple Choice + EIP”. I know Costco has great customer service, but what are the chances this gets rejected and I’m out $250 three months later? The rep was pretty adamant it would go through but I want to play it safe.

    • Gman

For clarification, my agreement still says “Select Choice FAM UNL TT+D 60” that will be turned in for the rebate.

      • pseudoswede

I have the exact same plan ($5 AAL ftw), and I’ve been able to take advantage of EIP as well as Jump on Demand–including the $0 Samsung Galaxy S6 promotion. I think you’re safe.

  • Mike Thaler

Does Costco sell TM branded phones. If not, won’t have wifi calling or band 12.

  • Jimmy James

Best Buy does not like T-Mobile. “Get a guaranteed $250 Best Buy gift card with any Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge or S6 edge+ with Sprint Lease or monthly installment plan for Verizon Wireless, AT&T or Sprint.”

  • Farouk AL

I just visited 2 more Costcos and got conflicting answers. One costco I visited told me that I could order it and get the rebate. The second costco said that they can only do the direct delivery option with the rebate for verizon, for tmobile they have to go through some other online process, and that since I’m not activating it same day of purchase, I won’t qualify for the rebate. I really don’t want to order the 64gb and be denied the 250 dollar rebate. Has anyone else asked about ordering a not traditionally carried variant like a 64GB note 5 FOR TMOBILE and been told that they can do it while qualifying for the rebate? Thanks in advance.

    • TaekwonBo

After talking with a few reps myself and reading the signs at the store it appears the $250 offer is for in-store only. Same scenario with myself, I wanted a 64GB Gold Note 5 shown online but noticed only a $25 gift card. Ordering the 64gb would redirect me to Tmobile site to place the order therefore I had to settle for a black 32GB cause I couldn’t pass up the 250.00 for a different color or more memory. I haven’t exceeded the 32GB on my note 3

      • Farouk AL

Thanks for the response. And I did the same, just settled with a 32 gb model myself.

      • uhs74

Costco site redirected to TMO site. So how TMO site will know that i have started form costco site and i m eligible for costco discount?
I mean how costco ppl know that i have completed order on TMO ?

  • James

Motorola has just unveil Cyber Monday deals for upcoming Cyber Monday.

    Take a look =>

  • Robert

  • They were outta stock at my costco here in Aloha, OR…and said to call back on the 29th (which is the last day of the offer)…she said I could still qualify for the $250 offer but just have to go through customer service to get it, if they are still no stock and past the offer date…anyone else get something like this?

  • TaekwonBo

Costco’s website is now offering a 150.00 rebate on newer Samsung Devices purchased online between 11/27 and 11/29

  • MattB

    Craptastic. Two months ago I bought a Note 5 and S6 Edge….

    • econobiker

Yeah, I hear your pain. My old S3 is dying (worn out charge port) and I was in Costco last month but didn’t know about this promo.

      • thepanttherlady

What does paint sound like? =P

        • econobiker

Drying paint sounds about the same as grass growing. ;)
Thanks, I’ve edited my pain/paint fat finger spelling, dohhh!

  • Sheena

Purchased 3 devices during 2015 black Friday sale. 2 Samsung Galaxy s6 rebate stated 250 Costco cash card for each phone and 25 cash cards for each device. Waited the full 14 weeks to finally receive the three 25 cash cards but nothing else. Went online like directed to Stuart Lee rebates and file claim to no avail it was the most incompetent website I’ve ever experienced with no human contact and an automated response. Called original store to ask for help didn’t get far. Went to local store and customer service was a complete joke guy stated there were no rebates in those amounts during the time, insinuated I was lying about all of the amounts. I wouldn’t leave so he eventually did his job to look up the rebates and found, ta- dahhh alllllllll the rebates I stated were there in bold. He then claimed he didn’t know how to do an escalation for the cash cards to come back and see his manager a few days later. Wtf? So I come back and am hit with the same hostility from the manager Jesse (I have severe anxiety so u can imagine what a nightmare this all is to BEG for my money back.) Once again he finally agrees to do his job call the original store and ask for the 250 for each phone to be escalated. I heard these words ok. So he says it’s done I’ll receive it in the mail. No he can’t tell me when I’ll expect them….lol I received them a month later at 225 each. OMG ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS?! when will the madness stop? I go back to the forsaken store talk to a new guy because the other guy (not the manager) refuses to acknowledge me. He then is the literal worst experience and actually argues with me that I’m wrong the amount was never 250 there were never rebates for the 25 cash cards off any devices, then says well u got ur money the 225 plus the 25 cash cards equates to 250. I almost break down crying and tell him all of u are treating me like I’m trying get to steal money when this was in ur black Friday sale!! I just want my money back I’ll never do business with u people again. So he calls the original store to go ahead and complain about me in the face to the manager who agrees that I’m already up to date with my amount and they can see if ‘they’ can escalate my request. The fucking ridiculous part is nobody ever disagreed about the 250 amount due until this last guy, who mentioned that their rebates papers changed in November. So all in all this is the worst scam ever and I’ll be contacting both stores dm to make sure they understand the importance of customer service and lack thereof. I can’t believe how I was treated. And I’m still short 50 dollars and a bruised ego.
