Confirmed: Accessories will be available on EIP from July 20th

Earlier this month we got word from our sources claiming that T-Mobile would soon being offering premium accessories on EIP from July 20th. Today, the company has officially announced those plans. In a blog post published this morning, Mike Sievert announced that accessories priced from $69-$250 would be available on EIP.

This means you and your family could walk out the door not only with new smartphones and tablets but also with your choice of the latest audio and mobile accessories—all for $0 down and 24 monthly payments with a Simple Choice plan. For example, you could pick up the state-of-the-art LG Tone Pro hands-free headset for $0 down and just $2.91 a month for 24 months with absolutely zero interest. You can find more information about T-Mobile’s new EIP payment option for accessories at your nearest participating T-Mobile store.”

Reading through the fine print reveals a couple of things that we weren’t sure on before today’s announcement. It states that – like EIP for handsets – the final balance on the installment plan is due if you cancel your wireless subscription. This suggests that the accessory financing agreement is tied to your handset agreement, meaning you won’t be able to just walk in and grab an accessory on EIP without taking out an EIP with a phone also.

Our sources were correct, however, that the minimum amount would be $69 and the maximum is $250. If you want a $300 accessory on EIP, you’ll need to pay a down payment to cover the difference of $50.

As previously mentioned, the new program goes live at T-Mobile stores from this coming Sunday, July 20th.

If the Moto 360 sells for $249 at T-Mobile, I’m all over this.

      Nooo go with moto 360

      • Jay J. Blanco

It does look nice. I’m just gone wait though to see what more cost efficient. The Galaxy Gear is 300

        • taron19119

Yeah but the galaxy gear is only compatible with certain galaxy phone if its the price that you’re concerned about then get the galaxy gear live its 199

    • JB

I’m personally waiting for the Moto 360, though since I have a S5 and will probably JUMP! to a Note 4, the gear is rather enticing.

  • JB

Awww poo that means I have to wait until I JUMP! later this year. :-)

  • taron19119

Yes now get the moto 360 when it comes out

If you just can’t seem to figure out how to manage your money, T-Mobile has an EIP for you. :)

I love the idea of EIP but 24 months is too long. I say if you know you can’t pay for something in 3 months, don’t bother buying it. Buy what you can afford even if it means sacrificing. I use bill me later and if I cannot pay for something in 3 months, I won’t buy it. This worked so well, I have a 4k spending limit with them. Bought the g2 and paid it off in 2 months. Why drag it out for 24 months. My stress levels are rising just thinking about owing something for that long…

But that’s none of my business **insert Kermit image**

Just because it is financed for 24 months doesn’t mean you can’t pay it off sooner. Take 0% interest for the longest length you can always get and you will always come up on top. The trick is having the will power to set that money aside and save it or actually pay it in advance.

You can make a payment to the device within your T-mobile account. The device is no interest. Get it now, save for 3 months and pay it off.

And that’s all fine, but most people I’ve come across that have the EIP bought , for example, 3 note 3s. coming up with that money in 3 months is not.

Gosh darn it I just jumped yesterday to the G3

  • steveb944

Damn, I don’t buy my phones through T-Mobile so I won’t be able to do this.

  • bob90210

The source is no longer there but I don’t see how “the final balance on the installment plan is due if you cancel your wireless subscription” for accessories has anything to do with the phone. The EIP on accessories (like the phone) is tied to the service plan so it should be possible to have EIP on either accessories or phone without an EIP on the other.

Wait but I wanted to buy BEATS AUDIO & Moto/Sony headphones/smartwatch! Will I guess I can use second line to get extra 250.

  • Troy

Just wanted to let everyone know you do not have to upgrade your phone. I just walked in the store told them I wanted to EIP a Gear 2. They added it to my account for 8 bucks a month and I walked out.

    • felipe sillas

So it does work? Since I saw no mention on the website so I was just waiting for someone to confirm thanks :-)

      • Don Cunningham

I can confirm as well. Walked in and picked up a pair of Tone Pro’s on EIP yesterday.

    • Kevin Stevenson

How does this works? The tmobile store doesn’t know how to do it and the customer care doesn’t know how to do it

  • Zimme71

I tried picking up the Gear2 Neo last night on the EIP on the phone with TMo customer service. According to the guy I spoke with, the Gear 2 and Gear2 Neo aren’t eligible for this program, and that I’d have to pay the $199 in full via CC or added to my bill. Do I need to go into a store?

    • Troy

I did it in the store. They scanned the device on my account and said it’s 8 bucks a month.

  • grod46

Just walked in to a Corporate T-Mobile store in fresno on Blackstone and got a Lumia 521 and a LG tone pro bluetooth headset, both on EIP and very easy, and super nice people too

  • elite
