Exclusive: LG G3 (D851) being tested on T-Mobile, release in June [Pics]

Next Tuesday, May 27, LG will be unveiling its next flagship device: The LG G3. Many of its features have been rumored for a while now, and we’ve seen a ton of leaked press images, feature lists and online placeholders. We’ve even seen a FCC document showing a T-Mobile compatible version is in the works.

We can now confirm that a T-Mobile flavored model is definitely coming. Pictures sent to us by “SolidLiquid” show a test model of LG’s G3.

As is the norm with many flagship models being tested, the device has a rather bland exterior case/chassis. It’s regularly used with testing models to disguise them in public, and stop people from knowing what the final product is going to look like. Sadly for LG, we already know what they’re going to look like.

Still, this model clear displays the D851 serial model, showing it off as being a T-Mobile variant. We also have the “connect to Wi-Fi to make calls” notice along the status bar above the lock screen, pointing towards Wi-Fi calling (a T-Mobile service), and one screen showing it’s connected to T-Mobil. If that wasn’t enough, it’s clearly resting on a T-Mobile internal document.

One image also confirms the rumors that the G3 will have a “Quad HD” display which – from the images – looks incredible. The vividness of the colors is unreal. And these are just photos. Another image clearly shows a 3,000 mAh battery.

We’ve less than a week to discover all the ins and outs of the LG G3. I’ll be attending the London launch event for PhoneDog, so look out for hands on coverage next Tuesday. I don’t think it’ll be long afterwards that we find out officially when T-Mobile will start selling it. Our source states mid to late June, but no pricing information as of yet.

Thanks, SolidLiquid.

its either this or the HTC M8 prime for me.
Edit: forgot to add that if i get this phone im definitely rooting amd roming.

    • Justin Merithew

If Motorola keeps to the small form factor I’m probably going with the X+1, but the G3 and the M8 prime do look pretty amazing.

    • Paul

M8 Prime or Note 4 for me. I’m waiting to see how the Note 4 specs turn out. So far, the HTC learned from the Max and upgraded the Prime’s specs from the M8 model.

  • mingkee

    The battery is removable!

  • GreatNews

The mid to late June sounds a bit BS according to LG financial release of Q1 they stated that they expect much better results in Q2 since the G3 will be out already and saying that keep in mind that May is almost over and you got now only June till Q2 is over, plus normally when FCC approves a phone its not to long till release!
So I would say plus what I heard and what CNET also claims the release will be on the announcement day May 27th by all 4 major US carriers

    • Cam Bunton

Perhaps. We’ll post again once we get confirmation on the date. What I will say is 1) A T-Mobile release isn’t going to have a huge impact on LG’s global financial results. It’s the 4th carrier in one country. 2) CNET has its sources, we have ours. Sometimes people get things wrong. We’ll found out soon.

      • GreatNews

I didn’t say T-Mobile its self will make an impact but think about it that all 4 major carriers at once releases it on May 27th this will make a big impact

        • cellphonechris

4 days of sales won’t impact an entire quarter. I suspect the source info is correct.

        • GreatNews

I think you didn’t understand even a bit what I said the whole time!

        • Semantics

Wrong, Sprint is now the number 4 carrier in the US. T-Mobile is pulling customers from every carrier.

        • Semantics

Oops sorry wrong person to quote :)

        • MadJoe

You’re wrong, T-Mobile is still the 4th largest carrier in the US, but they did out-sell Sprint wrt to smartphones recently (it remains to be seen if that trend continues, or even if T-Mobile overtakes the 3rd spot size-wise before being absorbed…).

      • Semantics

Sprint is the 4th carrier. T-Mobile is going upward.

  • steveb944

Wow that screen looks nice. Very tempting.

lmao orlando east business review isn’t that illegal to post?

  • seattle tech

Wow that screen looks like i’m staring into the future! 2015!

  • Oh well no USB 3.0! Going to be even longer to charge on 2.0. Another fail!

    • AllThingsReviewed215

Your name suits you right. The G2 charges fast so I don’t see why this wouldn’t. There are a lot of dumb ass people and comments on this site.

      • MadJoe

Exactly, USB 2.0 vs 3.0 doesn’t change how fast the phone charges, the amount of current the wall wart can supply vs what the phone pulls does. The only time USB version will matter is if you use your computer port to charge your phone, and even then you can use a 2.0 cable in a 3.0 port and get the full current from it, just data transfer will be slower.

  • JosephLagalla

I think I’m gonna wait for next year’s version with the 4K screen…

  • Pepe LePew

Snapdragon 801. No thanks. Old tech on 2k pixel phone is a recipe for disaster.

    • Richard Yarrell

It’s the Galaxy Note 4 for me only nothing else matters for me. But I am very happy for all Tmobile customers the Lg G3 will be a wonderful device

      • Chris

Where are the Note 4 rumors? Nothing has been leaked yet! Come onnnnnn

        • JJCommonSense

There have been several note 4 rumors, flexible display, qhd screen… u can Google it for the rumors. .

        • Iphone_User

Will it have the anti-gravity too?

      • seattle tech

Well richard you will be missing out on the most advanced phone. Imagine everything you love about your samsung phone but better and more advanced!

    • g2a5b0e

Old tech? Are you serious? The Snap 800 has been handling QHD just fine on the Tab & Note Pro series since last year. The 801 is more than capable.

    • Singleweird

      name something newer

  • wank_me

Comcast to try to bid for T-Mobile

    • seattle tech

      F Comcast that big monopoly

  • dontsh00tmesanta

    • Cam Bunton

Not as far as I know. It didn’t show up in the FCC filing. I don’t think handset makers will integrate band 12 until it’s live, which probably won’t be until next year.

  • TechWings

I really hope they release a Google Play edition. Or base the Nexus 6 on this. If there is a Nexus 6.

    • Xavier_NYC

Nexus line is dead.. Confirmed by eveleaks

      • Tyrone_83

Google themselves it isn’t who are you going to believe Google or a website?

        • Xavier_NYC

Dude I made this comment two months ago.. Since then Google officials have clearly stated that this is not the case. So I’m expecting a Nexus..

        • Tyrone_83

I knew that but when it comes down to are you gonna trust a website or the company that make it.

  • mreveryphone

    G-Flex weather widget please

  • Philip

Look like back firing speaker? Come on now!

  • Francisco llanos

I believe your sources are wrong for a T-Mobile release in june. No release date or hints of release yet.
