HTC Says Some Products Now Entering US, Won’t Reveal Which Products

Through a statement to the Taiwan Stock Exchange, HTC is now publicly saying that “some of our products have passed the review and have been delivered to our telecoms operators’ clients in the US.” HTC has been engaged in a battle with US Customs for permission to bring the HTC One X for AT&T, HTC EVO 4G LTE for Sprint and possibly a smaller shipment of HTC Amaze 4G devices for T-Mobile inside the US. The ongoing patent battle with Apple had stopped incoming HTC shipments of those particular devices. HTC sent a vaguely brief statement over to Android Central:

“Each imported HTC model must be reviewed by Customs and will be released once Customs officials have completed the inspection.  Some models have gone through inspection and been released to our carrier customers.  We don’t have the status of each specific device model at this time, but we are working closely with Customs. We remain confident that this issue will be resolved soon.”

Once this nonsense is over, HTC should consider suing Apple for lost profits.

Don’t forget to get some billboard space, and some commercial time at the Super Bowl next year to advertise that you are leaving.

Everyone hangs on your every word, so, this is important to all of us. Please don’t go…..I’m not sure that T-Mo, and customers like me can bear to live without you.

Apple is ridiculous trying to enforce a patent on a touch screen phone cuz they look a like. It’s like a tv company trying to sue another for manufacturing a tv. Get over it apple android phones do exist and there’s nothing you can do about it.

this is so ridiculous get it apple, you did not invented everything, HTC was working with Google for its first android long before your stupid iPhone was invented. Competition is real and winning deal with it!

“The ITC ruled that HTC violated the 5,946,647 patent, which refers to a method of data detection that allows a mobile device to recognize things like e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and addresses in text and automatically move them to a calendar, dialer, or mapping application.”

“Don’t worry, HTC’s products aren’t going anywhere. The ITC has given HTC until April 19 to settle the technology issues, so until then the company’s products are safe.
If some of HTC’s phones still use that patent, then they will be barred from coming into the country. But given the amount of time HTC has, removing the feature shouldn’t be a problem.”

So what does your One S do when you click on a phone number/address/email???

    • ogopogo

It automatically calls Tim Cook, and lets him know that you are coming over. It then maps the most direct route from where you are to his house.

Once you show up, the “Big Ass Boot” app initiates, and gives him good swift kick in the ass.

LOL nice.  But while you’re at it, fly on out to Taiwan and see Peter Chou for dropping the ball.

        • ogopogo

           Duly noted. :-)

  • Apple is seriously just acting like the kid in the playground who’s always screaming “mine” and when it doesn’t get it’s way, throws a tantrum until, finally, an adult intervenes. In this case the “adult” = customs, “innocent kid” = HTC, and “tantrum kid” = Apple (as always). Apple needs to grow a pair and admit that they’re no longer in the lead in terms of smartphone market share.

These kinds of situations are the reason why I’m such an Apple hater. It’s their policies that gives a sour taste in my mouth. If they never pulled these kinds of bs tactics to preserve their lead, I would gladly recommend their products to those who would benefit from them.

Apple makes pretty good products. I admit to owning an iPod Touch and AppleTV, the latter of which my wife received as a gift.

With that being said, I don’t hate Apple products. I do, however, hate their disgusting, anti-competitive tactics.

i hope the one s in ceramic black is in one of those shipments

I’m in love with the EVO 4G LTE.  Take the One X, add a bigger battery, a micro SD slot, a camera button, and a kickstand.  It fixes or ameliorates all the flaws in the One X.  Pity it’s wasted on Sprint’s terrible 3G network with no LTE.

And speaking of patent cases, great news for Android today, Google was found innocent against Oracle’s charges of java patent infringement.
