T-mobile G1 Makes it Rain

As it turns out all you crazy application downloaders are helping to drive the T-mobile G1 to a healthy sales position for T-mobile. According to the most recent comscore report, the G1 is the most profitable device for T-mobile, even so its only the 8th most sold device. Guess those required data plans are really paying off for the big magenta as is that $179.99 price point.

As most news outlets are pointing out, the secret seems to lie in the touchscreens as the iPhone and Blackberry Storm are also number 1 in profit for their respective carriers regardless of also being 8th and 9th in sales. So while some of you may remain touchscreen haters, the numbers speak and only gives credence to the idea that we will see more and more touchscreens as the year wears on.

  • The irony is that I’m paying less now than before. My wife and I both had Blackberries before and now both have G1s. We were paying $20 per line for data, and $10 per line for texts. Now, we pay $25 per line for the 400 text + data plan. So we’re actually saving 10 bucks a month by using better phones. :-)

ryaninc all tmobile data plans are all the same now, so your saving money either with a blackberry or g1. Upgrading your account is what saved you money.

T-Mobile spent a lot of money on commercial to push G1, even prime time

  • Ah, well, either way, I’m saving ten bucks a month and have way better phones to show for it, so I’m not complaining. :-)

not just touchscreen… it’s the fact they can all do a lot of things like music player, video, high speed internet… and they all have access to the best new HOT feature… apps and app stores.
