Behold 2 and Blackberry 9700 Price Sheets Leak

Behold2_9700_TmoNews

We already had  a little inkling the upcoming BlackBerry Bold 9700 would come with a $199.99 2-year commitment price tag. According to the price sheet we’ve leaked above, you can pick up a brand new BlackBerry Bold 9700 for $199.99 of course, with a 2-year commitment. If you dislike contracts (I wouldn’t blame you) the Bold 9700 will be available on November 16th for  a $449.99 retail price. If you want to sign up with one of T-Mobile’s new Even More Plus plans you can divide the $449.99 retail price into 20 easy payments of  $22.50/month.

The Samsung Behold 2 will also be available for the same $199.99 2-year commitment price tag and the same $449.99 retail price. Once again if you want to sign up with one of T-Mobile’s nifty new Even More Plus plans you can divide the retail price into 20 easy payments of $22.50/month. Did I mention no interest? The Behold 2 is expected to launch on November 18th. How are the prices looking? Too high, or reasonable? Leave your thoughts in the comments! Larger image after the jump!

if you want to get the bold on an even more plus plan, can you pay off the phone in less than 20 months? say like 10 if you want or do they hold you to the 20 months?

    • Kickstar13

Yes you can pay off early but you have to go to the store or call Customer Care and inform them that you want to pay extra towards the EIP and tell them to put it towards the phone.

      • Duck_Dodgers

Do you have to call or let them know on each monthly bill or will they change the 20 month to say a 10 month billing cycle? Will the let you change the installment cycle at the time of purchase?

        • Kickstar13

You have to choose 4 months or 20 months. If you choose 20 months then you just call each time and tell them you want to pay extra towards the phone

      • domenic

        alright thank you!

      • niididdy

Stores cannot do it. I did that when I got my MT3G – did that in 4 installments. I went to the store and paid installment #1 ahead of time. To cut my story short – they messed me up big time when my actual bill came through. So went back to the store, they called Customer Service who told them it cannot be done that way. However I could have called it in, and they could have taken care of it via Customer Service. You can only pay in full at the store. That's what I know.

Why would anyone spend $199 on the Behold 2 when they can go to Verizon and get a Droid for the same price? This is why Tmo keeps posting bad quarterly results – decisions like this.

    • Andy

Also, IMO Verizon is really undercutting Sprint and T-Mo by charging $99 for the Droid Eris, which appears to be a solid Android handset in its own right. Although it doesn't necessarily make sense in the long run given Verizon's higher monthly rates, consumers still gravitate towards low initial handset prices.

    • protestthehero

Why would you go to Verizon and pay like twice as much a month for the same data plan. Where I live Tmobile coverage is comparable to Verizon so paying the same amount for a somewhat lesser device doesn't compare to paying way more over the span of 2 years.

      • billybob

Data prices are the same on Tmo and Verizon.

      • billybob

Data prices are the same on Tmo and Verizon.

        • watbetch

Monthly voice rate prices aren't.. and the data is cheaper when bundled with Text, or when you're on Even More Plus.

        • Protest the Hero

It costs like $170 a month for the Droid on Verizon doesn't it? It would cost $100 a month for the Behold 2 I believe. Thats roughly $1,400 in savings over 20 months

See myself I've Always liked to buy the handsets Unsubsidized, just to get it over with and keep me off contract. Even tho I love T-Mobile and really didn't want to leave it always makes me feel good knowing I don't have myself stuck in a contract. – D

    • kershon

I like the way you think. I switched to the em+ plan for just that reason. If it takes me 20 or 22 months to pay off the phone I really want makes no difference to me and I will be contract free. I’m just not so patiently waiting on the bb9700. It’s killin me but it will be worth it when I get it.

  • Jesse24

I'm pretty stoked for the new BB. I think people need to see the whole picture then just the listed price.
Tmobile may have higher prices on phns but cheaper prices on Plans. More savings for longer.
The Behold 2 wasnt something that was going to completly destroy all android phones- its just another options for people to choose from.

    • JTorres

well if you are an existing Tmobile customer, you can call customer service and get the 9700.. i ordered mine last night!! it comes in on friday..

  • koloheboy

T-Mo need to get new people in the marketing area lol

  • aggieman2k7

Come on, TMo, you've GOT to be able to do better than this. I sold your phones for three years, I've been a customer for five. Slowly but surely my favorite cell phone company is pissing everything away. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to charge the same price for a Behold II as the DROID, a phone that is far and away a higher quality product.

  • trees247

I want to be able to pay for it over 20months without getting off my contract and getting in the new plans. We all should be able to pay for overe 20months no matter, I will try when it comes out!

    • me

      Not possible. Trust me.

  • watbetch

$199 is too much for a device with the same processing power as the MT3G.

    • deaconclgi

Sooooooo, is $199 too much for the MT3G? If I remember correctly, the Behold II is to have a few hardware advances over the MT3G….

      • watbetch

It sure is, it's at 149.99 now.. we should be paying $199 for a device like the DROID, not the midrange CLIQ/MT3G/Behold II

  • taylor

how is the behold 2 better worse than the droid?

  • HR

    $200?! Cmon.

The Droid makes this thing look foolish with it's Android 1.5 OS.

What is the processor and video recording resolution?

  • Bigg

Funny, I just got a call back from a Tmo rep to check on the replacement phone that was sent out to me, and I asked if she know when the new bb was gonna come out, she went and check and came back and told me that she doesnt see anything now but she have “heard” definitely before the year end. Those rep really dont know anything.

    • Petey Wheatstraw

It seems funny the reps don't know anything, but after working there, to be honest you all and the internet knows more about the phones and prices than internal employees. I come here to see what's going on, our company never tells us anything.

    • JTorres

damn man she's lying to you!! i read a comment on another post here (about the blackberry release date) and someone commented that if you are an existing Tmobile customer, you can order it already. I called last night and told the girl I wanted to buy the 9700 for both lines and she set it up for me! Call and just get straight to the point with them!

  • http://www.end-happy.com/ stab man

I ordered my n900 for $442 last week and you can get the droid, iphone 3gs and palm pre for $199 or less… so as far as the behold ii goes, yeah, way too high.

    • laphoneuser

Where did you find an N900 for $442?

  • laphoneuser

Seems fair to me. It didn't before, at the rumored $249, but breaking that $200 barrier makes all the difference.

  • Jason

My GF and I just switched to T-Mobile to save money on phones. We got the new Blackberry Curve (8900) because we assumed they were the latest thing with 3G, etc. We just found out the 8900 isn't 3G compatible. We just got the phones 4 days ago. Does anyone know what the policy is for exchanging the phones for the new Bold (9700)?

    • kershon

I would absolutely give those curves back and get the 9700. I am using a 8900 now and have been the past 6 months. Believe me, there is no comparison. After I pick up my bb9700 next Monday this curve8900 is going on craiglist or ebay pronto.

    • MAXIMUS

You have 30 days to return the phone. The smart thing to do is use the 8900's until Monday, take them in and exchange for the 9700's. I got tired of waiting around for T-Mobile to release a 3G Blackberry phone, I switched to Verizon and got the Droid. By far the best Android out there…..kills the Cliq and the myTouch 3G.

    • Anonymous

Give them back and wait for the new 9700 is my advice.

    • Anonymous

You have 14 days from the time you bought it to return the phone. It costs $10 to restock, but you still maintain your upgrade so you cold get the Bold for $200. The Bold is 3G compatible.

    • dannydarko

you have 14 days to return/cancel service, but they do have phone swaps depending on where you buy it .I have swapped out my phones a few times .It was at the shack though so, I don't know if Tmobile stores do it but, I would be inclined to think so

  • JTorres

  • Anthony in Utah

I am curious, the people that are saying they ordered the new BB 9700, are you saying you are a business customer? I understand business customers can order the new BB as of the 9th, BUT for existing non-business customers there is just no way you can order it through customer service. I called T-Mobile and asked about it and they said I couldn’t order it because I am not a business customer and they have no release date that they can tell customers as of yet.

    • kershon

Business customers are the only ones who can order the phone now. The rest of us will have to wait until the 16th..Just to make sure everything was kosher, I called my local store which is 15 miles away to make sure that the device would be available on the 16th. The fella I talked to said yes they will be selling it that day. But he said they might night have them right when they opened which is 10 am..He said they will have them by noon. That was hard to believe, cause I told him I would be there when they opened to get it and that is what he told me. I am getting there early just in case, and if I gotta wait I am gonna play around with some androids and the tp2 while I wait.

      • Anthony in Utah

Kershon do you know if T-Mobile stores are allowed to hold devices? Just wondering how fast this will sell out the first day its available to the public.

        • kershon

I have no idea about holding phones. You might want to call your local store and see what they say. I know there are lots of people waiting on this new device. I can’t remember RIM ever having a shortage on release. Maybe one of the other commenters would know better than me.

  • Rochester

You at least have 2 weeks. BB 9700 is coming out soon. Just in time for you to return 8900 and grab the new 9700

  • Koloheboy

I am so upset at T-Mo lol yesterday I placed order on two BB9700 phones, and the rep said it was placed. I even did a phone verify to extend my contract on both phones for 2 years. That girl also switch my service plan from my SK to BB plan, and guess what that did, well that turned off my internet service on my SK, I did not even have the phones yet. Anyways she said I would get 2 text message. Well, I got the text about me change my account, but not the text with order #’s… I called in and they told me the phones was not ordered because it’s not out yet till the 16th? how da heck… anyways took a while to get them revert my account back to Sidekick Unlimited for $19.99 and not the $34.99 just so upset lol

    • Anthony in Utah

Oh man are you serious? That's crazy! How did they place the order and then say it was never placed? That is weird. You have to be careful with T-Mobile sometimes. You know that Motorola Cliq I ordered and sent back? I still got billed for it and now I am waiting for an adjustment to be made on my bill. It was upsetting because T-Mobile said that my tracking number was invalid and they couldn't see if the phone was ever shipped back… but after putting me on hold a few times they finally said it was recieved and that they will credit back my account. Its just frustrating sometimes haha

Also the SOME of the reps. are confused about the Even More Plus Plans…. One rep told me that it was a flat 20 months you pay for the phone and it isn't based on credit, then another rep says it depends on your “Credit Limit” that they have on file for you.

I can't WAIT for the new BB 9700!

      • Koloheboy

I know, how’s this one…. Yesterday when I spoke with the rep she knew what she was doing she researched and found the phones got returned.. I ordered the Motorola Cliq too and returned them.. she found the order was returned and credited, then placed the order for the two bb9700 gave me prices and shipping terms and all that… I did not know she even switch the data plan already from my Sidekick service to the BB service which cut my internet service on my current phone, so I had to call back to let them know I ordered the BB phones and my current phones do not have internet. So they switched it back to Sidekick right? Anyways, I woke up this morning and did not get any order conf so I called and they told me no order was placed, I said double check your notes cause I talk to rep yada yada… and then place me on hold… then came on and said the phones wont be avl till the 16th, I said I just agreed to a 2 year extension to my contact yesterday and now your telling me the phone wont be out till the 16th?

I just cancelled the order and told him revert my account back to where it was, where no contract… it was already expired. I will just wait till the 16th to come.

  • Sam

    Garbage phones for TOP DOLLAR!!!!!!!

  • Sam

    Garbage phones for TOP DOLLAR!!!!!!!

  • im gettin it on the 16th

i just called tmobile and asked for a discount on a 9700. they said no discounts. i then told them i was heading straight to ATT for an iphone and they immediately sent me to the “customer loyalty” department. that rep told me she would give me the “maximum discount” on a 9700 and put it in the notes for my account so any sales person at any T-Mobile store could see it. said she thought id prob end up getting it for between $149 and $199 and that i can still choose to pay that over 22 months if i want. they’re scared of losing customers. use it to your advantage. and still NO-CONTRACT!

  • James

Sorry but still too expensive, but I can talk to blue in the face and it wont matter, like Dave Chapelle said “Tmobile is f*ckiing up! The behold 2 is a mid range phone..not high end like the Droid…not even better than the Droid Eris. The BB? I dont get the fascination with phones that all look the same with better screens and keyboards. Pass on both..nothing better than my G1 right now on Tmo.

  • DannyDarko

I keep hearing people say that the Behold2 isn’t note worthy that it has the same old qualcomm. But ,it is worthy and it has the same processor as the sprint moment 800mhz the behold 2 is the amertican version of the galaxylite more or less and that phone is definatly note worthy. So, lets reserve judgement till you get all your facts . Also ,an update to 2.0 is very close that’s why certain phones are skipping 1.6 and going straight to eclair (2.0) Forget the name forget the cube, unless that’s your thing look at power ,clarity and build quality If you don’t like it then ,well then I guess there’s no accounting for bad tatse

  • FILA

Man i think there gonna loose alot of good sales based on the More Plus plan shit, I mean imaging paying over $500 for the TP2, even paying on it every month is alot with your bill. If you cant pay most if not all when you first get the phone, then hell your phone will be old by the time you get it paid off, then its time to do it all over again

maybe the G1v2 wont be that much :-/ yea right

  • 30014

199 for the blackberry maybe because it will be the top of the line blackberry but not for the behold 2

  • Kershon

Anthony I did reply on the pc but I don’t see it on here while using opera on my phone. So I’ll do it again. I don’t know about holding phones, but you may want to call your local store and see what they have to say. I do not know of any time newly released blackberrys have been completely sold out, but maybe other commenters may know.

  • Kershon

HOOORAY!!! IT WORKS!! THANK YOU, DAVID!!!

  • Broke

Jason, it differs whatever state you’re in. Best thing is to call or IM online and check because if your buyers remorse period is 14 days instead of 30 you’ll need to have that postmarked most likely next week with tracking number and all of that. It takes a little while for them to credit your account and catch things up. The sooner you get them back the better. Also, I just got my phone and they would not do a swap in store for battery issues. I’d have to send it to the return center.

And to Tmonews Blog extraordinaires, I do like your old comment formatting much better if you’re taking suggestionsv;)Its easier and more efficient to read.

  • Cameron

glad I didn’t wait for the behold 2. i’m not on contract and defiantly not paying that price for it!

  • DoctorFighter

These two phones aree ok but right now I can only think on one thing “The Nokia N900″. I’m sure you guys know more than what’s has been said on the internet. Is T-mobile going to sell the N900? What’s going to be the price for it with a two year contract?

  • Achilles

@DoctorFighter: Good question! Do we have any confirmation of the N900 coming to T-mobile?

  • CrackberryBW

Monday cannot come soon enough! 9700 here I come! Been waiting and waiting to upgrade until tmo got a 3G BB.

  • watbetch

What happened to the much better comment engine?????

    • David

People were unable to comment from their mobile devices, gotta troubleshoot before implementing again!

  • JB6464

If their charging that much for these phones, i’m almost scarred to ask what the HTC HD2 will be.

  • GreenTea

still waiting for the next Android Phone…May have to get the Cliq if nothing else comes up at least in rumors by the end of the quarter :-/…Come on Tmo!

  • 30014

@Watbetch…I personally like this comment setup better, the other way wouldn’t allow me to post comments from my g1. I work 10 hours a day without internet access so my g1 is the only way to read the blog while at work. With this setup I can post comments from my phone so I’ll take it.

  • vollrathian

@greentea… Tmobile isnt getting another android device this year after the behold 2 comes out, unless the fender edition of the mytouch comes out. i have the cliq now and its a good phone, a lot better than my original thoughts. Ya the battery isnt that great but when andriod 2.0 comes out that should be fixed

  • GreenTea

    @voll

Understandable, but I at least want WIND of another phone to look forward to. I can hold on to my G1 longer if something better is slated to come out by June 2010. I love my G1 but Im the type of person who switches my phone almost yearly (why I could never own an IPhone). It’s been a good year with the G1 and the Cliq doesn’t really sing to me. So Im not really interested in spending the money on it. So we shall see what rumors come up by year end.

  • WXman

All these people talking about Verizon and the Droid being so much better than T-Mobile’s Android phones are a bunch of ******* idiots. That’s like saying my Windows Vista laptop is better than yours because I downloaded Service Pack 2. Really stupid people on here sometimes… Android is freakin’ Android people. Once 2.0 is released to us, the G1 will be exactly the same as the Droid, and still half the price. Not to mention T-Mo’s customer service is 1000 times better, and their prices are lower. If you think Verizon really has something to offer, go bow to them. The rest of us are a little more intelligent than that.

    • rossi

Did you see watbetch’s comment below yours? You come in here insulting intelligence, and you’re wrong… Interesting.

      • NiiDiddy

Rossi,I believe we have been through this with other people on here before. No need wasting your breath on this one. Maybe someday it’ll sink in that what drives a business is the product first, not the service…! In this case, this dude doesn’t even have any clue about the product.

    • NiiDiddy

I agree with Rossi – you are wrong. Nothing to do with the software. You have no idea do you?

      • rossi

Yeah, I know… I just had to point out the irony. ;)

  • Josh

Well said, WXman. Amen to that…

  • watbetch

It’s not so much the software, as it is the hardware. Can I haz Cortex A8 plz? Moar screen? Classier build?
